The best part about running a motorcycling community is that you get to meet and hear about all sorts of people. Different ethnicities, different motorcycles, different ideologies, but all connected by the thread we call motorcycling. Over the years, we have covered stories of many inspiring and daring riders. Whether it is battling adversity, breaking stigma, or quashing preconceived notions, these riders have consistently pushed the envelope, adding greater meaning to motorcycling. This story is about one such rider: Bonny Elangbam or Bonny Bam.

Bonny is a solo endurance rider and a motovlogger. That said, he also holds two world records doing stuff that may have seemed impossible. He rides a blue TVS Jupiter, completely stock. He fondly calls his scooter Dhanno. Now, Bonny and Dhanno have seen places and done things that a fair few of us only dream of. So, we talked to him about some of his most gruelling rides and, of course, his world records.

The idea behind his rides was that while most people celebrate big adventure-touring motorcycles, he wanted to see where the limits of a ‘mere 110cc scooter’ lie. Based on what he has been able to do, we’d say far beyond! He also wrapped his idea in a neat line- the size of the engine does not dictate the scale of the adventure.

His first world record was made in 2022, when he took Dhanno for an epic roadtrip from Delhi to Northeast India and back. He covered nearly 6,500 km, making the world record for the longest distance covered on a 110cc scooter. Then, in 2024, he did it again. He rode from Kashmir to Kanyakumari (K2K), covering 3,761 km and establishing the world record for the Fastest Kashmir to Kanyakumari (K2K) on a 110cc Scooter. The time he did it… just 107 hours in total!

Other than that, he has also piloted Dhanno to the top of the world by riding to Umling La Pass in Ladakh, situated at a staggering 19,024 ft. From all this, you can tell that he is not a fan of ‘easy’. He is playing life at Hard Mode and nailing it. He rode from Delhi to Srinagar via Manali and Kishtwar, tackling some of the most notorious cliffhanger roads.

It is stories like this that teach us that most of the hurdles and roadblocks we perceive exist within the confines of our own minds. Once one sets their mind to it, there is not a lot that a human cannot achieve. It has been heartening and inspiring to hear Bonny’s stories.
