If rumors are to be believed, BMW is working on a mini GS which would be based on the upcoming BMW G 310 R road bike. The news comes from Autocar which references an interview of a senior BMW official who, apparently, revealed this information.
Popularity of adventure motorcycles is on a rise in India and in every major market that a motorcycle company targets. Modern technology has made these kind of motorcycles extremely versatile while the electronics make them easy to ride as well.
In India, specifically, the success of Triumph’s Tiger is catching the attention of every other bike maker present in the country and, of course, they want a piece of it too. However, the need of the hour is for an affordable all-terrain motorcycle which is decently powerful as well. Royal Enfield has recently entered into this segment with their very capable Himalayan, a 410cc adventure-touring motorcycle.
The ever-rising popularity of RE Himalayan and its instant success among the riders who love to tour hasn’t gone unnoticed by the likes of BMW it seems. And so, it is a no-brainer to develop an affordable adventure-tourer with decently powerful engine, and BMW already has the base ready in the G 310 R.
Also, BMW shall offer visibly better quality as well in every aspect of motorcycle building.
