CS Santosh’s 2016 Dakar Rally challenge has ended prematurely. This unfortunate event was because of an electrical failure and a broken navigation tower on his Suzuki.
CS Santosh had been fighting hard in the 2016 edition of the Dakar Rally to make up as many positions after having a difficult start. He started off in 127th position on the first leg and had top speed and reliability issues according to his twitter feed. He even had to make repairs on his own in the middle of the stage. This cost him considerable time, but the braveheart from Bangalore fought on to improve his overall position. In the 3rd stage he managed to finish 62nd, improving his overall ranking to 87th. Things were once again looking up for him as he seemed to be getting into his stride.
But on the 4th stage, his bike had an electrical failure and he even had to ride a considerable distance with a broken navigation tower which ensured that he finished the stage last and 2 hours 45 minutes behind the stage winner. Due to certain reasons he will be unable to continue in the Dakar Rally and therefore this is unfortunately the end for him this year.
It is extremely disappointing for him and his many fans in India who were hoping and praying for a good result this year. Santosh had told xBhp, that he hoped to finish this edition in the top 20, unfortunately that dream will have to be realised in 2017.
After all the hard work and training it would be a bitter pill to swallow that he will be unable to compete till the end due to a technical failure. This year has been a difficult edition for CS and it will make his hunger for a better result even stronger in the coming season. xBhp wishes CS Santosh all the very best for his future rallies and we know that a man as focused and professional in his approach will sooner or later see success in this intense and dangerous sport.
We will bring you more details of the specifics of what happened shortly.
