Dougie lampkin, the 12 times World Trials champion successfully rode the entire lap of the 37.7-mile (60km) Isle of Man TT course on just one wheel for his Dougie’s Wheelie project.
The rider managed to complete the TT course in 1hour 35 minutes. The island’s roads remained open during his attempt. Dougie battled crosswinds and on-coming traffic as well, initially the plan was to ride on Saturday but was postponed for Sunday due to strong winds in the mountain course. The entire event was also telecasted live on Red Bull TV.
After the successful completion of challenge, Lampkin said:
‘I feel absolute massive relief, the build up to it, seven months of planning, everything that’s gone on, like the nightmare with the weather yesterday and still strong winds today on top of the mountain – I was just hanging on really. It wasn’t over until a couple of metres from the end but that last couple of metres was just amazing.’
