Eurogrip is not an unfamiliar name to the tyre world, but it has undergone a renaissance in recent years. From launching new tyres for performance motorcycles to entering the large-capacity motorcycle tyre category, Eurogrip has seen massive success in reinventing itself. In addition to the launches, Eurogrip has also been inviting riders to test their tyres on different motorcycles in varying conditions showing immense faith in their renewed product line.

The first invite we got from Eurogrip was to the Kari Motor Speedway. In that event, we got to check out the Roadhound- Eurogrip’s first go at sports-touring tyres for bigger motorcycles (>400cc). The tyre was almost perfect in every way conceivable, showing the massive progress Eurogrip had made in tyre design and manufacturing.

The second invite from Eurogrip had us leave the confines of the racetrack. We rode from Madurai to Thekkady trying a bevy of new tyres launched by Eurogrip on different motorcycles. We tried the Duratrail, the Terrabite, and the Beamer HS+. The test was aimed at showcasing the versatility of these tyres and needless to say, every single one of them passed with flying colours.

Now, both of these tests had Eurogrip sharing details on how each of the new tyres was conceptualized, designed and developed to provide the best possible experience to the end user. Albeit insightful, the presentations were brief. This is the third time we have received an invite from Eurogrip for what they call the Tread Talks Masterclass, held at the Kari Motor Speedway.

The event was broken down into two distinct phases. In the first one, we got to know in detail about the new tyres from Eurogrip. From the usage of multiple compounds to tailoring the ply to best suit the discipline of riding, the class was very informative. Not only did we get to know the meticulous work that goes into motorcycle tyre design, but we also got to know how Eurogrip aims to ace the game. Different purposes, surfaces, compounds, and motorcycles- the goal remains the same; producing excellent tyres for customers.

After the class, it was time to head out to the racetrack in the company experts and experienced racers from Japan and Italy. Before we spill the details on how it all went, here are the details on the motorcycles we rode and the tyres fitted; Kawasaki Ninja 650 with Eurogrip Roadhound, Kawasaki Versys 650 with Eurogrip Roadhound, Harley-Davidson Street Rod with Eurogrip Roadhound, TVS Ronin with Eurogrip Beamer HS+, TVS Apache RR 310 with Eurogrip Protorq Extreme, and KTM 390 Duke with Eurogrip Protorq Extreme.

We have talked about Roadhound and Beamer HS+ in detail before this. You can read about those in the two prior events we mentioned here and here. That being the case, we will skim over the performance details on the Roadhound and Beamer HS+ but talk about the Protorq Extreme in a bit more detail.

The Roadhound is aimed at being an all-around sports-touring tyre that balances performance, durability, and cost. It uses 4 different compounds throughout the surface to provide predictable grip in varying conditions. On the racetrack, we had Ninja 650 and Versys 650 shod with these tyres and the grip was astounding. We could easily exploit the limits of both of these motorcycles with confidence in the tyres. Considering the kind of mileage that Eurogrip expects from these tyres, I found them to be a solid option for the asking price.

Beamer HS+ is aimed at the sort of daily-use tyre that has enough grip in store for some spirited days as well. The Ronin had these tyres on and we found the feedback to be very reassuring. Despite the focus on mileage and stability, the tyres held their own even when push came to shove. Slow riding through the cones or going bananas on the racetrack, we found the Beamer HS+ to be a very reliable tyre considering it is aimed at being used daily.

Now, Protorq Extreme is what caught our eye the most. It is aimed at high-performance motorcycles that do duties both on the road and on the racetrack. You can tell the intent of these tyres by looking at the tread, it is aimed at maximising grip even at crazy lean angles. We were also told that these tyres offer more than decent wet grip as well but we did not get to try that. However, we have heard online that these claims are not unfounded.

The result of the third collaboration between xBhp and Axor, the iNineteen builds upon the qualities of the Axor Apex helmet augmented by stunning graphics and a beautiful message for the younger generation.

The motorcycles that had these on, the RR 310 and the 390 Duke, are both known to be sharp handlers albeit with different characteristics. In both cases, the Protorq Extreme tyres enhanced their agility and responsiveness to steering inputs. This, combined with stellar edge grip, means that these tyres offer grip for days in both tight side-to-side and long & flowing sections. The best bit about the Protorq Extreme is the competitive pricing. For the asking price, there are not a lot of tyres that can offer what Eurogrip brings to the table.

Developed with insights from national champions, the BBG Racing Suit was the perfect companion for this track outing of ours and it has everything we can ask for; comfort, protection, and lots of style.
