Recently WIMA India (Women’s International Motorcycle Association – India), the Indian chapter of WIMA International celebrated the International WIMA Day in India on May 18, 2019. This day is celebrated by WIMA on 3rd Sunday in the month of May every year, and this was the third iteration of this event. And this time, the India chapter was also a part of the celebrations along with women riders from 27 other countries where WIMA has presence.
WIMA has presence in all these countries!
And the girls celebrated this day in a very unique way. The theme of the celebration was to reclaim the roads and being fearless. So to ‘reclaim the roads’, they organized a night ride from Vijay Chowk near Rashtrapati Bhawan in Delhi to Hindon Elevated Road in Ghaziabad from where they took a U turn and ended the ride at ‘The Treat’ restaurant in Chankyapuri. The ride started at about 10:30 p.m. and ended well past midnight at 1 a.m. after covering a total distance of 60+ kilometers. There were about a dozen WIMA India riders WIMA who took part in this ride.
We at xBhp were also a part of this ride and were represented by the only member of Core xBhp Team who is eligible to be part of this girl only group, Ankyta Arora, who joined the ride on her Ducati Monster 821. We had also conducted a small quiz at the end of the ride there, and the quiz winners rode away with an xBhp tee shirt and the xBhp magazine.
The ride was led by the WIMA India Chapter Head Anita Krishnan who was supported by other WIMA India senior members like Wing Commander Jyoti Mehta Patel, Mandeep Kohli Merwah, Manjula Narayan, etc.
