As confirmed earlier, Guy Martin and John McGuinness are the riders of the Honda Racing Team (CBR1000RR Fireblade SP2) in the Isle of Man TT 2017. And now, the same partnership of Martin and McGuinness to race the electric bike in the TT Zero class going to happen in June 2017. McGuinness and Martin will race on the new Mugen Shinden Roku electric superbike in the 2017 TT Zero Race and expected to break the landmark 120mph barrier for the first time this year.
The Team Mugen has announced its team of the Isle of Man TT Zero 2017. 23 times TT winner John McGuinness is back with TEAM MUGEN for 2017, and this year will be partnered by Guy Martin, who is also team-mate to McGuinness in the Honda Racing Team at the TT 2017.
According to the Mugen Team statement: “For MUGEN the challenge of participating in the Isle of Man TT races started in 2012 using an original bespoke EV bike, SHINDEN, as a unique project to foster young engineers and conduct developments in a new area of motorsport and experimental powertrain design, and along the way has accomplished consecutive victories for the past three years in 2014, 2015, and 2016.
The 2017 machine, (SHINDEN ROKU), has been extensively developed from the 2016 race-winning machine, (SHINDEN GO.) “SHINDEN ROKU” will be unveiled at the 2017 Tokyo Motorcycle Show, which will be held at Tokyo Big Sight in March, 2017.“
