Harley Davidson, India is planning to expand its dealership network in tier-II cities.
Vikram Pawah, Managing Director, Harley Davidson India Said: “We are expanding our footprints in tier-II cities in India.”
Last year in June 2015 Harley Davidson opened its first independent store in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. They will soon open stores in other cities as well.
He also said: “In a span of less than five years, the company has sold more than 12,000 units in India.”
On being asked about the market challenges, Vikram said: “Harley Davidson is all about leisure biking and brotherhood. We are not into numbers.”
Commenting on the H.O.G. Rally, he said: “In the February H.O.G rally more than 6,000 members will participate.”
Harley Davidson dealership is already present in 22 cities out of which 5 are tier II cities.
Other groups like DSK have managed to expand their dealership network across 32 cities for their Hyosung and Benelli brand motorcycles.
The motorcycling culture in India is growing at a very fast rate, most of the big bikes manufactures have already entered into the Indian motorcycle market. Now the customers have variety of options to choose from depending upon their riding style and preference.
The motorcycles have become more affordable now. Every premium bike manufacturer is trying to downsizing their production cost so that they can price their motorcycles well against competitive brands and increase sales and service support.
