BMW has now decided to convert India as the fulcrum of its smaller capacity motorcycles. This announcement was followed by the introduction of their new release product – The G310R.
The 313cc bike will be manufactured by the German automaker in partnership with the TVS group under its ‘Motorrad’ brand. BMW is known for making higher capacity bikes and perhaps this will be the first time when the company will have a bike which is less than 500cc.
The G310R offers a six-speed gear box with the single cylinder engine producing a maximum power of 34 hp at 9,500 rpm and a peak torque of 28Nm at 7,500 rpm. Fitted with ABS as standard, the bike will display a high-performance braking system.
The motorcycle will be manufactured at TVS Motor’s Hosur plant in Tamil Nadu and will come in the market early next year at an expected price of INR 2 lakh to INR 2.5 lakh.
Frank Schloeder, President BMW India said, “We have big expectations from the G310R and there have been a lot of things that are happening behind the scenes.”
“While India is a big market in itself, we have plans to position the G310R as a global product. The India made bike will be sold in Germany, the US and many countries in Europe.” Schloeder further added.
