New MV Agusta Brutale 800 launched!

November 18th, 2015 Sunil Gupta EICMA 2015, News, News From Abroad comments

… and MV Agusta say this is the most beautiful Brutale ever.

The folks at the MV Agusta who make some of the best looking motorcycles ever have done it again!  They have launched the new Brutale 800 at the EICMA 2015 with which they want to ‘conquer new generations of enthusiasts.’  This bike was created with an aim of creating the best Brutale of all time. The first ever Brutale was born on 13 September, 2000 with the launch of first Brutale 750 Gold Series at Intermot, then held in Munich. Revolutionary and extreme, it proved to be the embodiment of its name: Brutale. Its design redefined the rules of motorcycling beauty with stylistic features such as the ingenious elliptical shaped headlamp or the “sliced pipe” silencers.

So, today, fifteen years after its first appearance, the New Brutale 800 is once again taking on the future.

Fully redesigned and yet still tied to its origins, the New Brutale 800 is said to be more “effective” on the road and is more efficient performance wise and is definitely more beautiful. With a new take on its proportions, modelled on more sculpted shapes and focused on the front end, the New Brutale 800 enhances the reinterpretation of the main stylistic features, such as the elliptical shape of the headlamp, now a Full LED, and the three‐pipe exhaust, with increased shape and capacity (+ 3 litres). At the heart of the new style, however, there is this futuristic frame of the saddle chassis in
light alloy, which blends in with the trapezoidal tank (capacity 16.5 litres), integrated with the air box and providing greater definition and aggression.

Some of the new features on the New Brutale 800 include its double saddle, concealed passenger grab rail, rear light and LED indicators. The instrument panel has also been changed, with a new handlebar and the addition of the clutch pump and the related tank thanks also to the renewed digital instrument panel and electric switches.

MV Agusta has made some changes to the engine as well, with the latest development of the three cylinders with counter‐rotating crankshaft, to meet Euro 4 emission standards. This engine is capable of delivering a maximum power output of 116 BHP at 11,500 rpm. The maximum torque has been increased by 25% with 83 Nm at 7,600 rpm mark, with about 90% of it already available at as low as 3800 rpm mark.

In addition to the counter‐rotating crankshaft, another unique feature is the fact that the new Brutale 800 is the only one (as per MV Agusta) in its category with electronic EAS 2.0 up & down gear shift. The slipper clutch is now hydraulically operated. The engine is managed by the MVICS system, which includes integrated multi map Full Ride by Wire in the traction control with 8 settings.

In terms of handling, the New Brutale 800 comes with an extended wheelbase of 1400 mm (+20mm) and a trail that is now 103.5, up from 95 mm in the previous version.

The ALS steel tubing frame is incorporated with light aluminium alloy clamps in the rear area of the pivot of the single swingarm. The front has Marzocchi 43 mm diameter upside aluminium forks with a travel of 125 mm, just a bit more (1 mm) than the Sachs shock absorber, which is hooked to the single swingarm. The braking is taken care of by Brembo throughout, with two 320 mm diameter floating disks at the front and brake callipers with four pistons. At the rear, there is a twin piston calliper fitted on a 220 mm disk. The enhance the safety quotient, you have the Bosch ABS 9 Plus fitted on the bike. Also making its way onto the new Brutale 800 is the new Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tyres, that is coming for the very first time as stock fitment on a standard production motorbike.
