Royal Enfield will launch “Himalayan” Motorcycle on the February 2nd 2016, a day before Auto Expo’16.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan has been spotted testing many times towards the 2015 end. And going by its name spy shots and earlier news reports, this is going to be the first adventure touring from Royal Enfield.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan is based on a new 400cc single cylinder engine. Chassis is expected to be built by UK based Harris Performance Products which Royal Enfield acquired in 2015, the firm has earlier worked on the development of Continental GT.
Royal Enfield Himalayan spy shots appeared on internet features a long telescopic suspension at the front, round headlights, large visor for touring. Handlebars and seat have been designed in such a way that it provide upright riding position for comfortable long rides.
The Adventure touring motorcycling lovers in India have been looking for a good sub 500cc bike for a long time now. If priced well Himalayan can not only expect a rage in the Indian market, but overseas as well.
Other Adventure touring motorcycles like BMW R1200 GS, Suzuki V-Strom 1000 and Ducati Multistrada 1200 are way too expensive and bulky for Indian buyers.
We expect Royal Enfield himalayan to be priced around Rs 2 lakhs
