After checking out the Katana, we saw a couple of more interesting motorcycles in the Suzuki pavilion. The 2019 Suzuki V-Strom 1000XT Adventure and the 2019 Suzuki V-Strom 650 XT Touring.
2019 Suzuki V-Strom 1000XT Adventure
The Suzuki V-Strom 1000XT Adventure is a beautiful motorcycle. Powered by Suzuki’s venerable 1037cc 90° V-Twin, the V-Strom has enough power to keep tourers happy. And with added elements like 10-hole injectors and butterfly valves that automatically open slightly when the rider eases the clutch out to help prevent stalling, it makes this bike very easy and practical.

Suzuki have also been able to include three levels of traction control, linked braking, and five-axis IMU-assisted Cornering-ABS. And an added benefit is the seat height which is only 33.5 inches. The wire spoked wheels readily accommodate tubeless tires giving a wide choice of street-focused and dirt-focused rubber options.
The icing on the cake is the inclusion of the Suzuki aluminum panniers on the V-Strom 1000XT Adventure. Like its smaller sibling, the V-Strom 650XT Touring, the big Strom gets an accessory light bar. Riders who enjoy two wheels far into the cooler seasons will enjoy the standard heated grips. And we’re happy to see a center stand making an appearance on the included items list.
2019 Suzuki V-Strom 650XT Touring
The smaller sibling of the 1000XT is the 2019 Suzuki V-Strom 650XT. It is a motorcycle that has proven itself and enjoys much popularity among the fans of middle-weight adventure touring. Add to that a plethora of accessories available directly from Suzuki and the aftermarket, and you’ve got a flexible mount for either commuting or racking up the miles.

But some people like their bikes a certain way. They prefer that the essentials be installed directly at the factory. The release of the 2019 Suzuki V-Strom 650XT Touring should make these people very happy. At the heart is the SV650-based engine, Tuned for a strong bottom end and mid-range, the Strom uses 39mm throttle bodies with servo-motor controlled secondary butterflies to smooth power delivery. The Touring also receives Suzuki’s Advanced Traction Control System for rider confidence in varied riding conditions.
The 43mm fork, twin-spar aluminum frame, and aluminum swingarm connect the 19-inch front wheel with the 17-inch rear. The spoked wheels carry Bridgestone Battlax tubeless radial tires for travel on pavement with a little bit of dirt road thrown in. Stopping comes courtesy of dual 310mm discs and two-piston calipers plus a rear 260mm disc with ABS.
However, what separates a V-Strom 650XT Touring from a plain old XT are the installed accessories. The hard saddlebags are keyed to the motorcycle ignition for easy locking and removal without burdening you with extra keys. The Touring also receives an accessory bar that should offer protection in a tip over. Finally, the included center stand should make maintenance and loading the bike much easier.
