yes.. the exhaust minimize the noise and pollutants.. but the smoke will come from the exhaust right ? and it's right under.. unlike exhaust of other bikes where the smoke goes away at the end..

It's one the reasons I stay away from auto's/bus
dont worry about pollution..... it runs on petrol, not diesel, so it produces way less pollution than auto or bus.... and the thanks to triple spark technology, for proper combustion and no smoke..... only 2 strokes produce smoke...

and you wont even see or get the smell of smoke.....

Umm , Diesel is a cleaner fuel than petrol
      Wrong reasoning bro ..

          Welcome bro

Bajaj is claiming 55 km/l when ridden under 60Km/hr.

Anyway in city riding + highway riding, we can expect a 50+ mileage.

Bajaj claimed 54+ for the 220. I get 35 .. So lets not expect 50+ and stuff. Expect around the same as the 220 dtsi.

Besides , this less than 60kmph thing is stupid. There is a big difference riding at 60 kmph on 3rd gear and 60 kmph on 5th so the speed is never an indication. Its the rpm. Blow 5k rpm shifts = sane riding and decent mileage.
But this is a 4 valve triple spark screamer ! so sane riding = boring

              Ya may be.

Let's hope best. With all those 4 valve and triple pulgs, and lil Bajaj's engine head I think it can deliver 45-50 per liter.

+1 on that. The mileage should be expected is around 40's. 54+ is just a claim from bajaj and not ARAI tested.

Don't mind that I'm prolonging on it.. yes it doesn't emit smoke like auto's/bus..

but pulsar 200 ns uses triple spark carburetor unlike Fuel injection used by KTM duke 200.. from what I read FI is reduces pollution more than carb..

everyone's seen 1st gen 5yr old pulsars emit a lot of smoke..

// thanks to triple spark technology, for proper combustion and no smoke.....

I think there will be some smoke.. else logically there would be no need for the exhaust pipe to be open..

this is my only concern from what I see with the new exhaust.. I don't want 200 ns to emit smoke to pillion.. say after 5-7 years..

my bad.... i have mostly seen black smokes in diesel powered suvs , trucks etc........ so i assumed it......

and if so, then i guess it wont cost much for replacing it, with the faired version when it comes.
MG pls throw light on these two issues--
                      1) Where is the air vent located?? ( Will it be obstructed if i modify d bike with a fairing? )
                      2) What is d backlit light of d instrument panel? Same old orange??

ANd any scoop on when the faired version might launch??
Magnetic tank bag can be used a tail bag for this.

                      1) Air vent? Didn't get you. Putting full fairing on this is not a good idea, you better wait for something which comes with a full fairing

                      2) Yes its orange. The right and the middle cluster is orange, while the left one has no backlit. The various signals in that cluster has its own individual colours

Unless we ride it back to back its difficult to tell which is better but what we can tell is that it is a very good handling machine

I'm wondering how BAL thinks in all these terms to produce a bike that suits a perfect motorcycle for Indian market; I mean, more power, less price, more FE. Time & again it shows BAL has the pulse of every single Indian & I'm sure Hero Moto will no way be closer to BAL in the forth coming years.

OTOH why not use a plug that sends stronger volts for more burning efficiency? That can also be done right? When a single spark plug KTM can produce 25 Bhp, the same cylinder spec on a Pulsar 200NS, why does it need, not 2, but 3 plugs?

Not that I dislike the design or arguing, but, trying to find out reasons through discussion.

I quote one of the lines from my earlier post again:

My understanding of English tells me that the above sentence doesn't mean what you thought I meant! And I wrote the above on the basis of this: "The KTM has a slight edge here what with a more powerful engine, less weight and better running chassis". This is a sentence from one of Sandeep sir's posts.

Let me know if you are still unable to understand what I wrote then, dude!
not to contradict you but to tell that the performance is indeed varied between the two & not "similar"
2nd, any bike priced closer to a lakh is no way meant for the masses per say but yes the price difference of 30-40 k will be a major factor during purchase even for the educated buyer

                            • Just saw the video. Lots of scope for improvement. I guess I was expecting the same quality as in the written report!

Since xbhp is run by real bikers and not a bunch of hacks I was hoping the video will be more relaxed, informal and chilled out. Maybe a couple of dry runs would have been good. Because right now its not come out as an informal or a rigid vid, its got stuck somewhere in between. OF sir seems to be very concious of speaking to the camera!

And the circuit ride would have been much more enjoyable if it was a helmet mounted camera. At this angle I am basically seeing the road, without getting a clear picture. The vids posted by Joel of his souped up R15 are so exciting because of the angle which it is taken from.

Hope some of these points will be kept in mind when shooting the next vid.

                              Cheers

But one thing I must say,Pulsar 200 NS has a more re-designed switch console than the Duke 200 which seemed almost a direct download from Pulsar 220.
I wouldn't expect the controls to be configured any differently. The turn signal switch, horn and high beam switches positions are quite standard among most motorcycles. Only thing a manuf cant probably do is play witheth graphics or size of the buttons, I guess.
