  • Re: Crazy comments u heard about bikes

I got in the discussion with a couple of guys, one of whom was on the lookout for a used bike. He shortlisted a few out of OLX and they were discussing which one should he get. One fellow from the group, a proud and ignorant owner of a Pulsar 220 was nagging the guy to get the Avenger, because it had a liquid cooled engine and a radiator just like his 220 and he can take it for long tours. Now this guy had owned his Pulsar 220 for over 6 years and claimed to know a lot about bikes, so I had to stifle a giggle. So patiently I explained to the group the difference between a liquid cooled engine in bikes like R15, Dukes and CBRs and the oil coolers in bikes like Pulsar 220, Avenger and ZMR. The guy refused to admit and took offence saying that I was undermining Bajaj and praising my Japanese bike. He was really convinced that the 220 and the Avengers had proper liquid cooled engines.

So exhausted with the mind numbing stupidity, I told him that I use a coolant called Engine Ice on my bike, what sort of coolant does his bike use. To which he said, he didn't know. Now other people in the group start to snigger, he got madder and said he didn't have time to waste on such petty things and his service center takes care of everything when he gives it for a service. So I asked him to check with the service center and ask them which coolant they were putting in his 220 for the past 6+ years.
Till this day I am yet to get an answer..
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Well, I have come across people criticizing me for riding a Ninja 650 at 120 kmpl..

I am not sure if this is related to the topic or not! nevertheless, here it goes..

People know I have craze for bikes and when I tell them about my bikes.. They go bonkers! Once few colleagues and I had a conversation about bike rides.. I recently did Kargil on my Ninja 650 and when my colleague asked about the top speed, I said it can touch 210 kmph but I ride it at 120 kmph! for which he went bonkers and said "You must be crazy to ride a 650cc bike at such slow speeds"

I replied saying "Yes, I am crazy and I love being crazy.. Crazy for the love of my life and loved ones"

I just went thru almost 20 odd pages of this thread and have been laughing my ass off of the experiences of the bikers here.

          Adding a small anecdote.
I have this small group of biker enthusiasts and we do short rides on Sunday mornings. Most of them own Royal Enfield Classics and Thunderbirds. A friend and I are Japanese loyals. So there is a lot of good natured ribbing that goes on. A few years back I happend to come to the ride with a Karizma ZMR (the first full faired model - 2009-10) that I borrowed from my showroom and very few of them actually remembered it. One of them is like " Abe, Yeh Sailboat kahan se leke aaya?" I literally froze for a couple of seconds and then burst out laughing along with my group.

( For the Non Hindi guys, Translation: Where the hell did you get this sailboat from?)

Most times for me it's about the gears !
I ride always fully geared up, sometimes on scoots too. And my friends and neighbours ask me - "ye kaala bakra ban ke kidhar ja raha hai ?"

trans - "where are u going dressed up like a black goat ?"

All my gears is mostly black [emoji14] Which includes jacket, pants, boots, gloves almost all of it is black.

And many a times I have been questioned about the price of my gear, after listening to it, they come and inspect the material, and the first question always is - "is if waterproof ?"
They think I wear it for the waterproofing rather than safety.
And sometimes - "scooty pe itna mehenga gear pehan ke maza nhi aya"
trans - "such costly gears and u ride a scooter ?"

And of course, wearing gears is very uncommon in Uttarakhand, less than 5 around my city wear it, imagine the alien looks I get !

This is really an interesting thread. Would like to add best one i ever got almost 8 years ago when i bought p220 in 2011.

This guy came to me and asked me. So, this bike has got 220 cc engine. I said yes. He asked so can it do 220 kmph? I was like what the hell. If we go by this logic does it make all 1200+ cc motorcycles super sonic? Rofl. Some peoples are really naive.

In India cc is everything. Not many people are aware of horsepower and torque figures. Nor power to weight ratio for the one who knows horsepower.

I recently got a Bell Qualifier, this one colleague of mine who feels he is some distant cousin of Harvey Specter (usually dressed up in designer clothes and wears Rolex), asks why did you buy this new one, did you have an accident that you had to replace your other helmet. When I told him that the old was already 4 years in running and that's the end of its life, he was quite puzzled. And then the famous - "how much is it for" question. You know I am not as terrified of relatives asking me "Beta shadi kab kar rahe ho" as I am of being asked how much for the gears. In a very Ekta Kapoor TV show style - all heads turned in my direction when I announced the price reluctantly and almost everyone in my small office came to my seat to touch and feel the helmet. Anyone familiar with Bell knows that the visor is quite expensive and man was I breathless to see a horde of my colleagues fiddling with my lid, extremely worried about its safety. In the end, after the monsters satisfied themselves, I inspected the lid and sighed. The entire day I had to answer why did I spend so much, whats so special. The Rolex guy asked very seriously "ki itne me head massager bhi hota hoga in built, nahi".

I left early from work that day :P
                LOL " head massager" [emoji23]🤣🤣

I was with my friend at a local mechanic, for some work of his RE Thunderbird. Another guy, whose Pulsar 180 was at mechanic's place asked my friend the age old question asked by Indians.
                  'Kitna deti hai?'
And my friend promptly answered- "Ye deti nahi, leti hai."
