I stay at Dadar, Shivaji Park.. and me along with my friend go for small ride every night after the dinner. We usually go to Worli seaface where there's a fixed place where we sit till around 11.30 and then return home. and when we get in the mood of a bit longer ride we go to nariman point..take a u turn just in front of oberoi hotel and sit on the "kattah" of the road.
Yesterday evening me n my friend almost had decided to go to Nariman point, both on our R15s respectively. But at the last moment i called him up and said i cant take my bike today, instead we'll go to Worli sea face itself on his RX100.
And so we were sitting at worli sea face and at around 10.45 we heard first blast over there. It was powerful enough to b felt on the ground beneath the foot. We wondered what it was and were looking in the sky for some sign of fireworks, but cudnt see anything. And surprisingly none of the people over there seemed interested or alert. Couples were busy kissing there chiks in there cars.
After around 10 mins we heard another blast, same sound..same power. This time we were a bit worried on what it was, but even more surprised that no one else is reacting. We thought that there's a Mafco, milk company and thought that the huge boilers inside the company must b under cleaning process and it sounded like a huge boiler falling on ground. Just after 2 mins heard the 3 rd blast.
We didnt pay much attension and continued our chat. After some time we decided to leave. We were on the cadel road, just in front of podar hospital and all of sudden the RX100 simply died. Refused to start. We were sitting on the pavement and trying to figure out what's wrong with the bike unaware of what's going on just a few kms away. Then after some time My friend called up his friend who's a mechanic and asked if he cud come there to check the bike.
He then told us what's going on at VT and said he cant come there as the roads were blocked near Siddhivinayak. We were simply shocked and all those 3 blasts which we heard were circling in our minds. We immidiately got up and started walking towards home pushing the bike. Just a few meters before siddhivinayak, a wireless wan came there and stopped in front of us, literally skidding. Officers got down and came running towards us. They started asking us all sorts of questions, who r u? what's wrong with the bike? what r u doing here? this and that. Some of them were a bit too much rude. Fortunalety my father's a well known social worker in the area. So just a phone call solved all the matter and they allowed us to go and take care.
We actually pushed the bike for some 4 kms and got home safely. Was watching the news channel till 3 in the night.
What ever's going on is realy sad and is a shame on mumbai's security department. They have used the same old technic which they used in 1993-entering in mumbai via sea route.
I hope all the mumbai xbhpians r all right.
Safe riding guys.
TC!
