I've heard the news channels have been making quite a bit of news of their own throughout this whole incident.

The cops cut the Television connections to the hotels before starting the operation in either of the three places.
A wise thing to do as the news channels keep showing all the activity live, and hence would've kept the terrorists aware of all the cops, NSG commando whereabouts...

I am talking about the PIGS such as those who need Z catgeory security to visit this city when they could do all that crap from Delhi itself.

PS:Ranting on forums and keeping gtalk statuses is like being jedi warriors in one's dreams - helps nothing. Either you organize a community self defense/contingency plan/volunteer for civil defence/army/police or just fart in thin air. The latter helps one's ego, let's go of discomfort but does nothing to improve things. Better not to point fingers at everyone and just quietly get on with one's lives.
PPS: I notice something lovely about BOTH your rant posts - "everyone else has some responsibility - my responsibility is just to point fingers and whine. endlessly." Atleast I'm at a massive loss to understand how everyone doing similar rants could help the country.

@hitanshu: Under stand what you say but every one cant join defence forces or organize communities to make things betters.. that's the reason we elect people and let them take correct decision to organize things properly.. For example, how many join the poilce force to serve the country,

For instance, Most of us vote for Congress or BJP ..ok? Will you ever vote for a "Nirdaliya", the minority parties? Both of these major parties have been given chances, will we give the minors a chance?

Maybe we won't! But then, we can't change things much. Change requires pain & sacrifice. It's not for free! ...

Yes, such a feature is available, but obviously these seemingly
notorious leaders have never disclosed it. This is called ' 49-O '..
Why should you go and say 'I VOTE NOBODY ' ? ... Because, in a ward, if
a candidate wins, say by 123 votes, and that particular ward has
received ' 49-O' votes more than 123 , then that polling will be
cancelled
and will have to be re-polled. Not only that, but the candidature of
the
contestants will be removed and they cannot contest the re-polling,
since people had already expressed their decision on them.
This would bring fear into parties and hence look for genuine
candidates for their parties for election. This would change the way,
of our
whole political system... it is seemingly surprising why the election
commission has not revealed such a feature to the public.... Please
spread
this news to as many as you know... Seems to be a wonderful weapon
against corrupt parties in India ... show your power, expressing your
desire
not to vote for anybody, is even more powerful than voting... so don't
miss your chance.
So either vote, or vote not to vote (vote '49-O ') and pass on this

I have a hunch, during the whole year watever incidents happened are a part of a political gambit.All politicians are the same.

I dont mind your stance, it is your choice. In a way acceptable, for an avg civilian of the state there perhaps is no way of know (no data/facts) if the intelligence/defence/police did an effective job or not. but that is about it.

That should not stop someone from debating on it. Because without a debate or without a questioning voice, the accountability will slowly degrade. If there actually was a lapse or failure and if aam junta sits quite what is the use. Yes Gmail statuses blog mean effectively nothing on their own but collectively show a sense of unrest or interest to know why this has happened. sitting clam while doing nothing is in no way better than those who rant and do nothing. effectively your contribution is still zilch

That said, questions should give enough room for the fact that it is the game of the terrorists that they chalk new plans to beat the intelligence. It is not always that the intelligence is capable of being able to bust them. There may have been success stories that did not show up for security reasons. The knowledge about their efficiency is merely a perception of what media has given to you. one has to keep in mind that the media can indeed present grossly skewed data in a hurry to be the first.

Bottomline: we need a debate not a blame game. one has to be cautious while choosing the words.
