Intramural Rugby was the cause of most of the injuries. These are only stuff that broke ... there are lots of dents and bends :-P

Broken Glabella and the two right hand fingers were construction site accidents.

The chin was broken when I was pushed down the stairs (Don't ask ... i got crazy people in my life)

The eyes is again work related ... too much strain causing too much nerve something leading to something .... blah blah by the doctors. I had some green lazer shot into my eyes burning something for treatment ... fun stuff.

Motorcycling was never a reason for even a single scratch on my body ... though its the most flak I receive.
When I'm on the road, I'm indestructible. No one can stop me... but they try.

      1. Broken Glabella
      2. Two arms fractured at radial necks with the right being more severe. Hence have a slight angle at the arms after the elbow
      3. 4 fingers, two on each hand, broken.
      3. Skull wounded twice 12 and 13 stitches either side.
      4. Broken right Tibea
      5. Sports injury on the right Metatarsal in right foot
      6. Both eyes fixed (best thing I went under knife for)

So I had a few years of GAP between my active days and until a few years ago. I gave up motorcycling as well ... and I grew chubby from a size 28/30 t a size 34

I have this unique condition that whatever I ate first went to my face and then to other parts of the body. I had a double chin, bags under them eyes, chubby 'ponds' cheeks and the whole 9 yards. I even upgraded to a size L Studds. And the snoring .... I could rattle windows out of their holdings and screws of door hinges.

So in 2013, I decided ... enough was enough. I wanted to get back to what I was. Not just physically but everything else ....

I was never a fan of gyms ... actually hated them and the puff pieces in there. I was always an endurance guy.

I started slow ... walking ... walked and walked and walked. On the roads, up the hills, how the slopes, the 8 floors to office .... nothing was spared. HR was on my ass about wearing them Sketchers in office ... screw them right !!!

This went on for a year and then started 2 years of penance ... I was shuffled between India and US. One month India and one month US. The regime changed ... I started building mass in the US and then shed the corresponding excess in India. I was that crazy dude who was in a beater all the time ... even when it was freezing.

The time in India was spent on the super famous Batman Regime albeit a bit customized. I did a mix depending on complimenting muscle groups ... 60-90 minute regime alternate days

      1. 20 Squats
      2. 30-60-90 seconds planks
      3. 20 Jumping Lunges
      4. 10 Pushups
      5. 5 side planks
      6. 20 Climbers
      7. 10 Tricep dips
      8. 5-10-5 crunches and Leg raises
      9. Heel Touches
      10. Sitting Twists

I tried skipping, but I was aggravating my metatarsal. So instead I did the stairs ... hopping ... 1 floor 30 reps. I still walked ... hitting 30K steps everyday. (Moto 360).

I started fixing the bike with whatever I could. I started riding (Good core exercise) pushing myself every time. The Lower back flared up every now and then initially and soon ... no more. I did non-stop Pune-Hyderabad runs ... only stopping every two hrs for cigarette breaks.

I did endurance activities (not running). I climbed and then climbed and climbed some more. I have two runs of Ahobhilam, conquered Blue Trail and Dallas Pattle.

I got down to a 30/32. I need 32 as the thighs of thunder don't agree with a 30 while the waist and hip don't agree to a 32.

Bought my first weight set from Amazon ... those 60 Kgs set. I do the normal gym stuff for about 30 mins daily ... itching to get out of work so that I can have a go again.

Still reeling from a missed punch and the right ring finger is swollen :-( Difficulty getting into those gloves.

Well the story of my measly life ...
Good to see you doing well God Bless you.. I see yourself as a motivation for others.. and of course for me

            • Re: The Gymnasium thread: A guide

This thread is dead for so any days. As usual with anything related to fitness now a days in india. No wonder everybody wants to talk of fitness but no one does anything for it.

Coming to me, i have been transferred and was little ill, so no workout for a month till now. My workout will resume full fledge from tomorrow. Feeling lazy but once i start working out will get interesting.
Now coming to new office as usual i am the fittest guy around. Going by trends all staff asks me how to loose stomach fat. How to get six packs and all but no one is actually interested in doing it. All wants some shortcut but alas there is no shortcuts to fitness.

Coming to my six packs i always through out the year have the abs.

People ask me how did you get six packs?

My answer- I have been working out for 13 years now. Frankly speaking i didn't had six packs in mind while working out. Six packs is a recent phenomenon. One day while brushing my teeth in morning saw the mirror and that's when i discovered i had six packs. May be because of discipline, right eating and regular workout i achieved abs which every media says something as non achievable.

              So three things for fitness:-

              Discipline,
              Workout,
Diet- nothing fancy just use your mind to think.

People ask me how do you get motivated for so many years?

I said i don't watch tv, don't have any smoking or drinking habits. So i have enough time in world. Moreover my motivation is me. I always flex in front of mirror. Compare my muscles. Ok the biceps needs a little peak, chest needs more upper development, lats needs workout, Abs needs more definition. Ok the bulk has increased lets increase the cardio.

So i continue doing it the whole year. This keeps me motivated.

People asks me is weight training good for normal persons?

I reply why not? If you can smoke chew tobacco, drink knowing that it is bad for health, then why do you asks this much for something called workout knowing it is beneficial for health.

And most common thing is people go to advice from those people who have no experience in the thing.

Not true for all I started nearly 2 months back and I am more motivated than ever to do even more.

Most people back off because they think working out for a week or so will make them loose weight, which is nearly impossible in such a short time and they stop even trying.

                  Ride safe and have fun.

I don't know it was sarcasm or genuine thought but ah! let it be.

In fact i found getting abs easy contradictory to what fitness magazine and advisors say. Or may be what i think is my way of training which did all the difference. As i have posted my training schedule i workout real heavy and with gradual intensity increase till i can't go any longer.

                        You will soon get it.

My funda is keep it simple and give more stress on basic weights and normal range of motion.

As the great body builder Mr. Arnold has said that trainers and pupils today have forgot most basic movements like clean, jerk and press, military press, free squats, dead lift.

These are exercises which build the inner core strength. I remember when we a group of friends used to hang out in the gym we would try to do all the basic exercises.

In fact once in three months we would compete in push ups, or squats or back workout.

And for diet try to eat as much as natural food. Natural foods are those that you used to eat when you were small and your mother cooked it.

It includes rice, dal, chappati, vegetables. Avoid eating processed foods. Include oats, egg whites, in your meal. If you are non vegetarian, eat chicken breast instead of leg piece. The leg is full of fat, the chest portion is protein. In fishes try to eat those small fish as it has omega 3 fatty acid.

Use your brain and you will know whats good and whats bad for health.

I have never been a strict dieter but i keep my portion of meal small. I do not eat oily and processed food. Keep my meals simple without following any complex suggestions.

For example a typical meal of mine:-

Get up at 5 in morning and have two bananas and an apple. Along with it eat a fibre biscuit.

Then start my workout and finish at 7 o clock.

                        Take a 30 mins rest.
Then take a bowl of mixture of bajra, paddy, badam, pista, dal powderand mix with water to make a smoothie. Also a glass of protein shake.

Then while going to office eat 4 breads with salads as stuffings.

Then i office have a small snack of same bread (2 pieces) at 12.

Then at 2:30 have my lunch consist of a bowl of rice, a bowl of dal, a vegetable bowl, a bowl of tomato mashed with onion, and a bowl of mashed vegetables burnt over gas stove.

Then at evening 6 i have a bowl of corn flakes or oats.

In night i have four chappatis along with vegetables fried on non stick tawa with 2 spoon of oil.

Also pop a multi vitamin pill to keep body from getting weak.

So you see the diet is nothing extraordinary. But i keep myself from indulging too much.

                            Bhai leave public.

Aa late Rajesh Khanna has said in his film:-

Yun toh log kahenge, logon ka kaam hai kehna.

You workout you are show off. You don't workout you are lazy. So nothing to worry. The thing is that people particularly in India do not treat fitness as part of life.

As there is a saying:- character first, health second and wealth last.

But that has been reversed. Nowadays wealth is first, health next and character is not there at all.

Once you start getting fit you feel the wonder. Until and unless you haven't delved into fitness you can't know what it feels to be fit.

And chill buddy, I was just joking.

Has anybody followed ketogenic diet? Once we have followed it and lost a good amount of fat, how do we come out of it and maintain the same body composition as we can't follow keto lifelong? I understand that we still need to eat healthy food but do we need to change our diet drastically to maintain that body composition?

                                Sorry missed the post.
Keto diet limits hunger so that post the plan one doesnt over eat.
You have to keep a check over the calories you take. It should be near the same calories you were taking during keto plan, plus minus some calories.
