@prateek2210, hahahaha, seriously i think that's the best thing that has happened to me (breakup I mean)

Btw, how do you reduce the fat that is settled at the back?? I've been doing hyper extensions and weighted side bends for the past two years and it still hasn't reduced..

hahaha, that is not true but its funny as hell xD

@kmk0311 : Aaah one of the toughest place to loose, back and love handles
Rowing, pullups, side planks needs to be added. If your exercises are not helping then increase the reps, push little more. It will work, I am sure

Re: The Gymnasium thread: A guide

Good to See a Fitness thread :-D

My two Cents... Each and everyone is different and the individual's metabolic system reacts different for different workouts. Coming to workouts you have a million of them out there. from 5 minutes HIIT workouts to Tabata's to Strength and Weight traning. Before one would start on any fitness, sit and think on whats the goal - what you want to become : Like lose 5 kg, 10 kg or some maybe not be fat but want to increase their strength and build up some chest and arms, some might want to be more fit overall to improve their core. Moreover what ever you want to gain or lose you can be but maintaining it over a period of time is what makes you a Fitness enthusiast.

Just hit Google and you get everything online, from diets and trainings but those would be of a common study or a general, but the things which matter how you can pick whats available and change / tune it for your fitness goal respectively.

Fitness is a Lifestyle and it has to be a disciplined habit and you got to be obessed over it - No matter it is Summer or Winter.

Now who am talkin about - A person who wanted to have the fitness model looks and like many tried to be fit but didnt stick on to it - so gained wegith and lost all my hardwork which i put on - Not one time but have did this many times from my college days. But this 2014 i decided to stick on to it and make it a gift for myself on 30th b'day. So put the sketch and worked towards it and achieved what i want in 6 weeks (this happened in July) but maintainaince phase started right after it and kinda proud to say that am still holding good on that look :-)

the reason am putting this note is that - like you all i had all the execrises and diets out there - but spent a month on choosing what i want to do and the diet to follow for the transformation and maintainence phase. And speaking about determination, there should not be any excuses - if you want to do jus go ahead and do even if it hot, rainy , snow or cold. I run around the ground and do sprint trainings in a open basketball court with the freezing -2 to 0 deg winter winds.(eventually i was geared up properly to beat the heat) which improved my bodies metabolic rate to burn more calories to bring up the core temp...

i can go on and on - would like to finish up short saying - 'Decide, Plan, stick on to it'

              ----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

Losing out the love handles and the fat stored in back it tough but can be get ridden off by doing right execrise and food.

Hyper Extensions - Helps to strenghten your lower back muscles - doesnt help in burning minimal fat
Wegihted Side bends - actually helps to grow the muscle right up over your Pelvic zone (hip bone) which makes your waist line look much bigger

For E.g. i was having a 36 inch waist and if i would have went ahead and done only the Ab's to lose weight, my tummy would have grown bigger as my ab muscles would be stronger doing the ab workout but the layer of fat on top of it will not be shown... so i hit the cardio and more of total body weight workouts which help in burning the fat and kept my diet in check which resulted my waist line to be on 30 :-)

As shared in few pages before start focussin on the HIIT today body workouts for a month you see good changes... leave the ab focussed workouts for now

36 to 30? You just inspired me.

I keep finding excuses not to work out. I have a lot to learn from you guys.

How do you even build determination to all this stuff so religiously? I wonder

If our answers gave determination to everyone, all of us would have been in gym by now. Its all depends on one's decision.

For me, honestly, it was anger, depression and a stubborn way to tell everyone that I am not the "fat boy" that everyone called me all these years.

Determination comes to everyone when something hits really hits you hard either when someone mocking the way you look or when one gets a injury or when someone realised what the heck am doing with myself...

Simple example is Mainly with the current culture where most of sit and work, our postures are gone for worse and we tend to make it more worse by sliding down or sitting which is comfortable for us which is relly really bad for spine. you never know when you will get spine related problems - but most of us currently would be having lower back pain and the risk of it gets more with each kg of weight increases.

Ye back problems is a major issue with us bikers. Want to share one more instance.
Too much touring and sitting job took a bad toll on my back, there came a small gap in between my L1 and L2 in my vertebrae. Physio therapist strictly said NO to biking and weights were never to be touched. And now after 3 years, here I am pulling 100kgs of dead lift. Why would my injury stop me, why cant I make my back strong and continue my normal life.

To people who find it difficult to start, just remember it will be toughest the initial days, but you will eventually start liking it.
In today's world obesity, b.p,sugar kills much more people than we can imagine. Just give few hours per day just to yourself, and see the difference. Who doesn't want to live a little long

I managed moving from 30 to 34 in 4 years of slow progress. With some work, I have achieved 33 for now and I already feel like a contestant in Gladrags Mr India. [emoji14]

So all those who posted on this thread have gone from fat to fit, and the fit have started looking like the Spartan army.

As for me i have been clocking decent number of kilometres on my cycle and also enjoying the 15 minute workout R had posted earlier.

For me, as the summers are approaching, I have to change the workout. Less or running and cardio or HIIT and more of strength training. For cardio I'll be only doing kick boxing. Running would only be early mornings.
The other day I was doing that 1000 calorie workout at 4pm at home and was sweating so much and my face was like red hot that I had to stop in between. Might have to work on muscle gain through summer and no more running competition after this Sunday :P
Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

Last I posted that I had reduced my waist size from 34 to 33, now it's on borderline 32. A few of my old trousers have started fitting me without trouble.
Though my gym time has reduced thanks to 14+ hour software development times daily for the past 2 months.

However, a good thing happened in the meantime. Milind Soman visited our office with breast cancer campaign called Pinkathon. Talking to him in person was quite an insight!
I barely hit the gym on weekends for cardio and stuff. Rest of the days, it is surya namaskaar for about 35 min (I manage 9 reps, though want to do 12-14) followed by cycling in the neighborhood for 25-35 min.
