I find the R15 cumbersome to ride in heavy traffic. End up using my F2 most of the time because of that. Moreover my Mom&gf find it very comfy on the F2.
On weekends when I go for long rides on the Yammy, I find it underpowered&wish it had atleast double the power it has.
So, I was thinking of replacing my old F2 with the GS for daily city usage (as a commuter)&buying the Ninja for long rides. Does that make sense now?
However, I haven't finalized on this, just contemplating. I may end up buying the Ninja&having it as my 3rd bike!

If you read carefully my post again, you will find that I replied to R15-rocks who currently owns an R-15. That is why my comparision. I very well know that the bikes are in two different leagues, and that is what I told above.

            • It's finally going to come

finally guys suzuki GS150 is going to come.Today I received a call from showroom that the deliveries are going to start from 23rd FEB.Anyways I have bought an GLADIATOR-RS, the pricing is one issue that buyers will consider. It's priced RS.4,500 more than unicorn which I think is a lot.If GS150 was going to cater performance class than pricing is not that important but its targeted at commuter class where 4,500 means a lot.

              Comment

              • Uday... something wrong with teh data there... the GS is priced along with the Uni and not 4500 more than the Uni. we were thinking that pricing is one of the strong points of the GS 150!!!

                  • @vrooom: No offense buddy but are official ambassador of GS? You get provoked by every small bit that is against GS. Delivery is a big problem. I am sure there are just few people buying GS and if they can't give that number of bikes on time then we need to rethink.

I am wondering if Suzuki has aired any ad on TV regarding GS?
                    Enna Rascalla. Mind it !!!

                    • They are going to officially start the deliveries of the bike on Feb 23. Read it today in Economic Times. No ad as of now.

@Leon You are true, thought of commenting on Vroom.. but refrained. Do not know why is he hell bent on comparing the GS with Uni's smoothness and refinement.

                      • OT:Been getting my R15 to office since the last few days. I've changed my opinion-its not bad even in heavy traffic! Surprisingly, it pulls from around 35-40 in 6th gear with ease. Riding position is a bit cumbersome initially, but when you get used to it, it is as easy to 'cut' around as any other bike in traffic. Going to get a safe parking in office soon, so that my baby is scratchless. Congested parking lots are the only things that bother me.
Yamaha was right-it is built for heavy traffic, as well as open highways. I'm more in love with my R15 now.No thoughts of buying GS anymore...
P.S.&O.T.: Now that my R15 has become my daily bike, I am considering buying the Ninja exclusively for weekend rides!

                        • just a few paper ads.... that doesn't give enuff mileage

they have many things shared with their cars division from suppliers to the place of the plant but they fail to learn a few basic things - service network, sales network, advertising - Suzuki cars enjoy almost 50% market share in India and that doesn't come just because it is Suzuki but for the ground work they did...

Also, despite being the market leader by a huge margin, they do heavy advertising for their cars...

BTW, I had a chance to spend an hour with the bike but not a test drive! even flipped through the sales training manual pages... It is a good bike... looks decently different from the Pulsers & Unicorns physically. Very good build quality... learnt about some unique stuff the bike had...

Saw how to change the ECO & PWR mode of the bike in the console... it cannot be changed on the fly (a-la Hayabusa) but am very glad to see that feature.

The guy (a friend of my friend) who rode the bike to RTA for approval (owns a pulsar 150 dtsi) rode it for about 50 kms, said that this is tons better than the pulsar in traffic & on the highway. His view is that the bike had a very smooth and good pull in city over his pulsar and the top speed he did is 110 kmph on the speedo without any struggle. When I saw the bike it was run for 400+ kms.

Of the many intelligent design elements I read about the bike, the one that caught most of my attention is the oil jet system (they have a fancy name for that too). Suzuki has embeded an oil spray system that sprays engine oil directly to the place where the crank (connecting rod) links to the piston... that place being the hottest part of the engine outside the head (and since engine oil doesn't go into the head) spraying engine oil there gives a very good cooling effect.

Also, the accelerator has two cables... they call it the butterfly carburettor (gotta see how it is in Karizma) that has two wings to connect two throttle cables in opposite direction. Forgot about the advantages of this

I'd really like this suzuki to rock the sales charts... the last time a suzuki rocked the sales charts, it left an ever lasting impressions and the engine stilll continues to be the best performer in that section... yes, I'm speaking about the Fiero and the RTR.

Lol.... I've recommended GS to many my friends and my mom says the same u said.
Its bcos Im in love with the bike. I was buying Unicorn before but since the news of GS spread I waited to see it. Its the only bike having Uni like smooth engine with the latest styling, digi console, etc. plus the "commu-tourer" character of bike suits my every requirement. It may be less smooth than Uni. But who cares? I hardly get chance to ride >70 kmph in Pune and even on higways speed is not my requirement. And its almost like Unicorn on low rpm plus combination of style and comfort, etc. So those who want 150cc commuting bike with 50+ mileage, looks and smooth engine, why get Uni by compromising on looks? GS is the good option, isn't?
Well, this my opinion is based on reviews in BI, overdrive, zigwheels and those who rode it incl I.

About Suzuki's service, I thinks it isn't that bad and lets hope they will improve with the launch of Intruder and (i heard) gixxer1000.

Nobody is making GS less compared to Uni. There is no use in comparing the smoothness and refinement of Uni and GS. You liked the GS, and just go ahead and enjoy. I do not have any reservations in suggesting one to anybody.

Even GS had lots of extra goodies compared to Uni.
