  • BTW Why are we guys so interested in this, after owning ZMAs, P220s, R15, etc...?
Because some of ours' budget doesn't allow the price as well as the mileage of ZMA/P220/R15, and to a guy like me (occasional family tourer), this bike fits perfectly right next to Unicorn. That's why.

May be you forgot to add the launch of R1, Intruder and other superbikes. As those bikes are launched, why are we still thinking about ZMA/P220/R15?!! j/k

      I see ...

So well said, I think this bike will make a mark of itself. It's still the cheapest 6 geared bike.

Good luck for your bike, I hope you have happy times with it ...

      • Guys, when I was going yesterday from Swargate towards Sinhagad at night, suddenly a big mass of a bike overtook me very silently, and at good speed (I was at around 40-45, so he seems to be at 60 above). After looking at the tail lamp, I recognized it was a GS150R! That biker went zipping through the traffic, without any 'seemingly' dangerous tactics, and I couldn't catch him.

Bike seems BIG on road, and is silent as a cat! Glad to see suzuki has started deliveries. Awaiting for the first owner report!

(And no, it was not a test drive bike, because I was too far away from the Suzuki showroom, and that person was alone).

Seems like the GS is gonna give Unicorn a run for its money! Which bike were you on btw?

          • I was on Caliber115, with a pillion, so my 'chasing' abilities were doubly limited! As told, I was around 40-45, max 50 kmph.

However, the road presence and silentness were very evident.

            • guys people at overdrive have had a test drive and they also share the same opinion about gs150r as we do.Here is the link

              • Indeed.... they have a similar opinion posted as we have been discussing... but one line is a surprise -

"The GS will get to 60kph, but only the Pulsar is slower. It will do a 100 kph, and only the RTR is faster."

This, to me, is making the GS 150R a more interesting bike.

                • The very same line caught my attention too.. So does it mean that the GS has a good 60-100 compared to other bikes ?

It means that it is faster than the Pulsar in 0-60&just a bit slower than the RTR in the 0-100 mark. I am completely bowled over by this bike. I reinstate: It seems like my F2 reborn with new age features. If I were to use a bike purely for commuting (given the wide roads of Hyderabad), I would look no further than the GS. It has the practicality&power to match all civil utilitarian needs!

                    • Now this was very much expected by me.People were skeptical about this being another half-hearted attempt by SUZUKI.And i knew if there would be any other bike which would come closer to the RTR in terms of performance it has to be a 'zuki powerplant to match up.(coz the RTR's engine block itself is one amongst them )I had high hopes for the bike and finally it seems SUZUKI had ticked every box right not to let down any one.

I am completely bowled over by it's awesome dash display and that 6 gear speed gearbox could even make it more interesting to ride on the highways.Any idea about the top speed?

                      • Hey guys, anyone else has had a test drive of gs 150r?
It seems to be designed to cater to hassle free urban commuting. Because there are six cogs they can use five cogs "effectively" to reach top end quicker ,and use the sixth cog as an over drive. As already posted in this thread, Od have tested this bike and feel it is slower to 100 only to rtr that seems pretty good for the modest 13.8 bhp it makes. How i wish this bike made 15bhp.

                        • I had a short test ride of this bike:
                          - felt it a bit heavy specially compared to RTR(so rtr's sprint is also contributed by this fact)
                          - power felt just right -- almost like Unicorn as I couldn't get over 50kmps over that stretch. Gear box was good too and that gear indicator is good for newbies to tackle with 6 gears confusion(I can think of one of my friend as I write this, who always forgets the gear his bike is in).
                          - I bit bulky for me at least .. dropped the idea to buy that bike just after the test ride.

                          * moreover, I was getting some noise/lag and other things from the chain assembly and SC guy was just blank about that saying that they don't have any servicing/maintenance manual for this bike (so servicing can be a prob for new bikes).
                          * didn't like the rubber cover(don't know the technical term for that) over front shocks.

Otherwise bike was good .. liked many new features in it. Also liked much of the styling.

                          • I am quite sure that this bike is not going to perform any better than Unicorn/Hunk/Xtreme....

                            • Suzuki's second shock

I feel suzuki is irritating its customers a lot.First they are constantly delaying the deliveries of the gs150r and now they have given its customers a second shock!!! They have priced it quite ferociously. It's ex-showroom price here in hyderabad is RS.59,854 and on-road is Rs.66,667 whereas it's direct and only competitor i.e the unicorn is priced at 57,344 and on-road Rs.63,555.there is a difference of Rs.2500 in Ex-SR prices.I can pay an additional Rs.1000 for suzuki's quality and paint finish but not this much.Seems suzu has forgotten abt central vat cut of 4%.Guys do you think is it worth it?????

and also the prices are out in their website for all regions

                              • I guess price is ok as you are getting many a things for that:

                                1) Digi and the best console.
                                2) 6th gear
                                3) Ride control switch: if that really works :P

And quality wise it's at par with unicorn if not better. Moreover it's totally new bike rather than 6-8years old bike. I think pricing is alright but I feel that they should have launched it in two flavor: one as it as and second with sporty looks, lighter body and so on with really VFM sportier bike -- I would have gone for that for sure .

But I don't like the attitude of Suzuki dealers at all.
