  • For the Integra Overseas Limited Suzuki India Officials.

This post for any of the Suzuki India officials or anyone close to them if they ever come across this.Congrats for launch of GS150R.A very good bike but with some effective drawbacks. This bike is a tad too heavy for being a 150cc bike though it is coupled with 13.5hp power. It wud make this bike suffer like a Heart trauma patient if it is acelerated strongly in higher gears rather than living upto being a hard working bike.I think the weight of this bike rises due to the tank design and styling attributes and possibly it cant be changed but what could be definitely changed is that the power output can be increased to 15hp or 16hp.This wud give the bike a good power to weight thus aiding its acceleration properties.

If it is thought that detuning the power of the bike would make it India freindly then it is a dumb idea. With increasing Indian traffic-rapid pace and considerable power during overatkes and in city riding is appreciated. If the power figure is increased the torque figures can remain similar as they are now bcoz the GS150R engine has good potential, provided it is similar to Satria Fu 150 engine.Increased power and good torque would surely cope up with that massive weightIt would also make the bike fuel efficient. At that weight 225cc bikes are available in Indian markets with higher power outputs and torque!!!

If the Honda Unicorn or similar bkes are taken as the competition or for sampling let us know that all these bikes are lightweights and hence can do away with low power figures. Also Suzuki needs a massive presence in the market to convince consumers of how good their product is.It can be done with only making the bike more power happy and performance oreinted. That would be enough to attract younger commuters.Dealership wont be a worry if demand for the bike in the market increases.

I hope that the above mentioned points would be taken into considered when the bike would be realunched with few changes in January. All the Best.Thanks.

    • Bike India has mentioned the GS150R to have an oversquare engine and hence the mid and top end should be strong.... with the peak power at 8500 rpm and peak torque at 6000 rpm, and Suzuki advertising the XTP thing with this bike, this should be a good puller in the low end too... note that they start their flash ad with the word "Raw Power"...

The engine balancer ensures very low vibes... .now this shoul dbe a very good |bike for City and highway... not sure about the tracks and drags

BTW, does anyone have the GEAR RATIO's and BORE X STROKE numbers?

      • Today I test rode the bike at Somajuguda Showroom. I could not go much distance and above 3rd gear. The bike pulled easily with a pillon in economy mode. Switching to power mode gave a bit of extra pull. Cant comment any on the mid and top end. The build quality is very good as is the case with other bikes of Suzuki. The riding position is just like Karizma; one can happily tour.

One thing I noticed is a heel-and-toe shifter. I did not recognize this while I was riding, just rode like a toe shifter. After when I was examining the bike, only then I noticed it. The presense of heel part doesnt affect in any way the toe-only shifting. Actually, you can choose either toe-only or heel-and-toe shifting.

The digital odo is the best of indian bikes. Gear indicator is really nice. The power mode and economy mode can be selected with buttons in the instrument cluster.

The rear tail cluster is really good. The pilot lamps at the front are really good. Front looks okay.

The tail mud flap as an extra fit at the end (the mudguard is divided in to two). You can remove it and shorten the length of it. After it is removed, the rest just looked like an RTR mudflap (the V shape cut at the end).

Though the weight of the bike is 149 kgs, it is just 5 kg extra weight than an unicorn. Unicorn weighs 144 kgs. I do not think the xtra 5kg weight is going to make the bike very sluggish than an Unicorn.

Overall, a very good commute bike. Awaiting for full road test.

        • So then,can the bike perform like a FZ16?

If it does then kudos to Suzuki. There are no worries about the top speed.........Suzuki is always good at top speeds and I think the bike wud atleast cough up Hunk bettering 110kmph top speeds,(even Hunk is heavy at 145 kgs!!! few bikes are as good as the ApacheRTR though).Heavy weight wud make it sure that the bike stays put at above the ton mark and maintains its line.

Once again Suzuki is making it clear that they are experts at engine mapping. With those power and torque figures this bike wud be apparently be the leader if it really performs as has been said by Hydbiker and [email protected] it all is a magic of engine mapping.

Let's see what the January launch wud give us and wait for a trusted road tet.

                    • Awesome pictures.

Bike looks good, shape of wind shield could be better. Overall quality of materials is looking decent, same for fit & finish. Speedo consol is without doubt the best in India.

                      • Bike is undoubtedly good looking. Suzuki needs to hire good photographers, coz the photos show no beauty. In reality the bike is much good looking.

BTW Swargate suzuki has stopped giving test rides, don't know why. The price they tell is 67000 on road, which is bit baffling as Unicorn which has same ex showroom price costs around 65000. Also, the men there still don't know the feature of the bike. None could tell how to change the mode to Eco to power n vice versa, they were not aware of the gear change light, also no idea about the oil reservoir on the rear shock asborbers. Can someone throw light on these 3 features?

Its v.important how neatly a bike is maintained, if you are an average user and the bike is in a good condition, the returns should be good

Unicorn GP edition is a limited version with only 3500 in the whole of India (as per the report in most of the forums) and around 350 in Bengaluru (as per Honda showroom guyz) and trust me
you won't find it that easily for sure. Whereas GS150R will be in plenty...

Definition of Demand Vs Supply applies here too

positioning light generally refers to the pilot lamps doesnt it??

PS Love the alloys, simply awesome, wouldnt mind getting them for my bike..wonder if they are avalable

                              • I noticed few things with GS150, that I request clarification on:
                                1. The fuel knob is not like old passion/caliber. So how can we key-lock it? Is stealing petrol from the bike as easy as it is with other bikes? I have a key operated petrol knob in Caliber115, FYI.

                                2. If you see the rear shock absorber closely, you can see a rod in the middle, rather than the usual thick pipe. What's the benefit?

                                3. (The next few are repeat questions) How to change the mode from Eco to Power and vice versa?

                                4. What is the oil reservoir near the rear shock absorbers, that 'help cooling the oil' as per the company? As per the dealer, they are surely NOT gas filled.

Lastly, I researched this point, that as the battery is only 5AH, if we are to go for HID, we have to opt for 35W HID (which draws 3.3A current) rather than 55W (which requires more). However, 35W are longer lasting than 55W, and also less heat producing. The light will no doubt will be less than 55W, but anyway a HID lamp will be way too much better than stock halogen 35W.
