  • heh....its funny!

I guess some people are expecting quite too much out of GS150. Six gears are NOT going to make it cruise on 120kph comfortably...let's get real guys, its performance is going to be similar to CBZxtreme / Unicorn nothing more!!!

        1, Commuterish seating position
2, Heel-Toe gear shifter (it seems straight from last decade)
3, Alloy (Design seems pretty aftermarketish)
4, The rear of bike is not allevated enough which gives a very unsporty look.

and even if despite of all this you end up liking the bike you have to wait till nxt year to get the delivery.

          • @MG: No pics dude, nor have a camera neither a cam phone so..

Bike has a ram air kind of thing below the headlamp which looks okay from the side profile but it plain ugly from the front. I will say a opportunity is wasted. I feel a more focus approached should have been adopted, the bike seems unsure what it itntends to be, a sporty 150 cc, a 150 cc executive commuter, a sporty commuter, a touring bike?

                Bingo...

All the negatives u mentioned makes it a great commuter and semi tourer kind of bike... and that can possibly be the success propeller for this bike...

Stunner indeed is a good looking bike, but but ..... stunner is only a good looking bike thats all. I felt the engine is worst tuned and you will have a better engine feel on moped rather .
Compare it with Gladiator or Platina or Exceed (engine wise), its no where.

I will accept that but if Suzuki intends to target commuter or executive commuter than i feel that they havnt thought it out properly, my idea is that a commuter (read layman, conventional guy) on any given day will prefer a better brand (in indian context) like hero honda, honda or Hamara Bajaj. Result this new baby of suzuki seems to be in no man,s land.
On other hand i want this bike to achieve success as it might end up paving way for better (read bigger) bikes from suzuki stable.

                    • I think this bike suits persons like me. I am married, so I don't care about plastic muscles in my bike to improve chicks. I want a fuel economy that fits my pocket, and a bike which cruises happily once in a while. I don't want a white elephant to spend more time with it than with family.

The requirements are simple, I want a care free bike for commuting and occasional touring, which will be able to carry all the bags easily, with good sitting for me as well as pillion. And I think with 6 gears, full metal tank, covered chain, toe and heel shifter, some cool touches like digital meter n led taillamps, and upright sitting, gs150r may just be the perfect bike for this purpose.

The only gripes I have are 5Ah battery (not sure whether it will be enough for HID) and tyres (should be tubeless/puncture resistant like unicorn.)

                      • Last week i went to suzuki showroom and got a chance to look that bike. First i would like to point out some good things which i liked:

                        1. Digital speedo, it has a big dial for tacho and a display for gears also.
                        2. Headlight design is taken from the gixer family.
                        3. Bike is big like the Unicorn
                        4. I like the taillight(personal choice)

Acc to me it is good for daily commuting and i think it can return a good millege like the unicorn. But again as Bandhav said commuter (read layman, conventional guy) will prefer a better and known brand. And also this bike has no road presence like the stunner and FZ.

Firstly dealer told me that they have only one bike and for the test ride i have to wait till january. But during our discussion about the bike when i said no one can beat the silent and smooth engine of Unicorn he said it is too super smooth and if you waana try you can take the test ride Then i said i will try once i got the review of the bike.

                          • Suzuki GS 150 R

Had a chance to test ride Suzuki GS 150 R, last week in Bangalore. The Bike has Heel-Toe gear shifter but the tech specs are similar to toe shifter - the gear lever returns to the same position with rubber and spring mountings, some call it as returnable gear shifter which is evident in all toe shifter models. But the speaciality in this Bike is that the tech used is toe shifter type, but still it has a heel operator also for the gears.

The looks are a mixture of all the Bikes available currently. But in many aspects it is targeted at Unicorn - it is similar in many aspects. The Engine sounds similar to Unicorn and is smooth.

The main drawback, for a commuter bike customer from this Bike is its Kerb weight of 149 kgs. which is almost similar to ZMA.

Some one mentioned a few changes before the launch - If you get any information as to what would be the changes - You are welcome.
