  • do anyone knows its weight................kerb weight in kgs? Alot depends on the power to weight ratio when it comes to power city rides.GS150R is a power city and a touring ride.

      • Kerb = dry weight right? That zigzag.com review mentions it is some 138kg.

        • Dry weight is without fuel / engine oil. Kerb weight is with engine oil and fuel.

zigzag might have mentioned the dry weight

            Sounds funny.

This feature is similar to my Casio Digi watch which says support for 12 International languages for calendar ...

Just any TDH can start posting on a blog... moreover the link provided by you doesn't have any proof in the form of official statement link to support this claim..

                • true payeng : but then, even ur blog used to claim so many things and members here posted ur blog as a source. Even you did.

Anyways my point is, i saw the link and posted it here. Plus, Indiabike is a trustworthy source. they were the first to post the pictures of the Maruti DZire (which were later used by various blogs / sites)

Mods : why has the Ninja 250R topic been closed?

Ah... but there has always been a major difference. Whenever I used to post something I ALWAYS made it a point to provide the original link/source to the story.

In case it was just a figment of my imagination, I always made it a point to point that out too along with proper DISCLAIMERS.

And more more point, I have never remained Anonymous.

Hmm, i got two completely different answers... which one is correct people???

now the mph/kph one would be useful sometimes when the american spirits have gotten into you...

as for that economy thingy - if it starts blinking at 4krevs, its pretty much useless... however if it waits till say 8k, then it would actually be a nice tool when dragging... see the blink and shift..

                      • I ride a suzuki zeus.

Though the bike has a 125cc engine it puts out around 8.5bhp. The torque figure(i forgot it) is alos not so great number, but the bike does not stall at low rpms(i guess the torque is available right from the beginning). On can ride this bike in 5th gear at 2000 to 2500 rpm(around 25kmph) without the engine knocking nor with the clutch lever depressed.
At these rpms, the bike doesn't have any acceleration. But its interesting to know the bike surges ahead around 3500 to 4000 rpm and the engine becomes smoother and the rpm meter just climbs all the way till 7000 rpm with ease(with the throttle only at half) for the first four gears. Wait for some more time it will hit the 8000 mark with just a little more throttle. But to cross the 8500 rpm mark you have to give more throttle and the meter reading would go up 9500 to 10000 rpm(red line)
But an interesting thing one has to notice, the acceleration is not great. I felt, any 125cc bike can defeat this one in acceleration or as a matter of fact a good 100/110cc bike can give some good competition till 70 kmph. The good thing this bike has is the bike is not stressed(or it doesn't feel) till 80kmph and then it goes to 90kmph with some extra throttle and then to 100 at full throttle(provided you have done the acceleration/gear changes properly). The highest I ever achieved was 105Kmph.

All the above readings might be having some error. The above mentioned readings were from the stock console.

Regarding the economy part, the bike delivers depending on how you ride. When I rode it like a 100cc bike it gave me 68 to 72 kmpl. When I rode it like a 110 cc bike it gave me around 65, Ride it like a 125cc bike it gives around 60kmpl and ride it like a 150cc bike it gave around 50kmpl. The least I got was 48kmpl(reserve to reserve) and I was doing 80 to 100kmph continuously and covered 90km in 90 minutes including a quick break for the nature call and slowed down once to set the fuel tank to reserve.

Why all this in a thread for a 150cc bike??
Because both the bikes are from suzuki and I expect similar characteristics for the GS150R.
So, if GS150R has same characteristics as the Zeus then that econo mode is not an additional feature it just depends on the way you ride. Its the torque availability which matters.

BTW, I should say the bike looks plane from the side but individual features/parts are stunning.

                        Raj.

                        • GS150R ... quite nice bike. Good looking and best speedo.
Could'nt go for test ride coz of time shortage.... but overall I like it and felt confident when sat on it. I think it would serve the purpose quite well for suzuki.

                          • raj : u r spot-on. i have ridden the zeus too, and it might not be the fastest 125cc around but its ability to ponder in traffic in higher gairs is phenomenal. also, the gear-shift is silky smooth. i actually like the bike a lot.
the gs150r might not be the best looking 150cc around but comes loaded with great features! i hope it does good in this segment

I only hope that this bike(GS150R) accelerates storngly and smoothly in any gears. That wud make it the ultimate urbane vehicle. No vibrations and topnotch suspension is expected.I dont know how it will be good with 149kgs of kerb and only 13.5 hp power........bad power to weight I think??????!!!!! Atleast it should ride like a FZ16 even though it might not look as good.
Many bikers are not fans of looks.................like myself. As for example the Busa or Vmax does not look too good but has that performance to tear a bit off earths mantle.Similar is expected of GS150R,being a 150cc.

                              • Here are some pics of the GSR 150 taken at a showroom at Malad in Mumbai.
The bike on display didn't have the battery connected so i asked the sales person to kick start it for me. The start up of the console looks cool with all the display parameters flashing (may be its the self test thingy we see in the pulsars, not sure though). The engine i must say is refined and the throttle felt ultra smooth. On revving the engine felt pretty responsive and smoother than my friends Unicorn, just my opinion..no wars please!. The bike will be on sale only in Jan 2009 with some few changes as also told by the sales person before it hits the market.
