  • Thanks for the report Gaurab

So, that still makes it a very good city bike and a good tourer.

Yeah.. he knew you aren't gonna buy that... no point bluffing!

But wouldn't weight make it a bit uncomfortable to maneuver in a city traffic situation?

      • MG, did you bother to check whether you have ridden the bike in power mode or economy mode? 4th gear 100 is very impressive with two more cops left. I guess it can do 130 kmph in sixth gear.

You can take off half the portion of the tail and it looks similar to the tail of RTR.

        • GS150 - 149
          Uni - 146
          Hunk - 146
          CBZX - 143
          Acheiver - 138
          P150 - 137
          FZ16 - 137
          RTR - 136

I guess all of them are kerb weights and not dry as I couldn't get clear info everywhere. FZ16 is the only bike that feels very light how ever you try to handle it

Now, from the list above, most common of the bikes (the hondas) are there at similar weight. (may be they use thicker metal... like Fiat's!). We are speaking about 3-10 kilos weight difference here... but in real world the bikes weight can change based on how much petrol is in the tank and how much the great human riding the bike weighs... most of us vary be a good 25 KG margin if you knock out the extremes....

well, I am not trying to prove something here but just FYI... Suzuki would have considered this... so would have Honda and they'd have built it like that... not for performance... on the other hand you see the FZ16 build to perform and weighs far less!

Yes .. these are all kerb weights.
You are absolutely right that these weights differ by 13kg max and if we discount fuel tank size than it is around 10kg difference max or +/-5kg from the average, but still some bikes feel heavier than others. That is mainly due to weight proportioning of the bike.
I find RTR to be the most flickable of all the bikes in the list and feel FZ to be ultra light because of broad handle which makes turning effort very less and I suppose it has the lightest front part i.e. handle, headlight assembly and so on(I could be terribly wrong in this).

Considering that it had few drops of petrol left it felt pretty heavy.

Very early to say that.Need a pretty long ride to comment but its definitely less flickable than RTR.

Asked the showroom guy about it but he was completely clueless about it.Thought that I will do one round in power mode and another one in economy mode but ran out of petrol after the first round itself. The first round was done on power mode.

Even if it reaches 130(I have my doubts) it will take a long long time to reach there.

              • I will second MG on the top speed front, 130 sounds quite ambitious, with a kerb weight on higher side, max power output on the lower side.

Sixth overdrive gear will surely make the high speed cruising effortless.

                • The GSR 150 must do around 115kmph as a max speed! Speedo indicated is 118.

Why don't you go across to one of the showrooms? You can get the brochure, see the vehicle in the flesh too. Maybe you can even get a test ride so we know whats behind the Power Economy thing!

Thanks man... I know there's nothing much but wanted to get what they wrote in there... as such, there's not much info else where either!

The CG of the bike plays an important part. If the CG of the bike is lower, you won't feel the weight so much as you twist and turn in traffic in low speed. If the CG is higher then you will definitely feel it. FZ 16 CG is based low, compared to most bikes.

                            • GS150R is heavy, and makes its weight felt, but the engine runs superbly. In fact, I was very bored while test riding Unicorn just after the test ride of GS150R. Suzuki had me smiling widely after the test ride, even with a showroom person as a pillion the bike showed its worth, but Unicorn failed to impress even when I was allowed to test ride it alone. There is something in GS150 which urges you to go faster. The exhaust note is smooth, but not mute. Horn is good, I was honking it just to hear the electric-ish sound again! Couldn't test the lights, but I remember I didn't feel the wind even when I crossed 80kmph, so maybe the high positioning of headlamp is actually good for blocking/diverting direct windflow onto the rider.

I hope this bike turns up good. I am already saving up money to buy it in near future.

Main puchtaa hoon, Is bike ka fal-safa kya hai bhai??

Is it a tourer, commuter or what? If you ask me, it "seems" like a mix match of all traits, at afford-ability.

BTW Why are we guys so interested in this, after owning ZMAs, P220s, R15, etc...?
