Yes RG, you're right. But, maybe it's my inexperience. Having seen it for the first time rattled me.Originally posted by aargee View PostDidn't know you posted this
All this is like passing cloud, you feel low for the moment, but, on longer run, you'll gain your confidence again & start running the same show
Wise men learn from other's mistake, Normal people learn from their mistake & Fools never realize their mistake
Anyway, out of the gyan, we all know the fun & thrill lies in the risk, the risk of riding a motorcycle is far more than driving in a car or by bus. But still we do; but again, can anyone guarantee for safety by a car or bus? Heck no!!! Still we drive or even take a flight knowing the fact anything can happen. That's HOPE; a positive hope that we live to see tomorrow. Just fill yourself with positive hope & see the difference...cheer up
[Regarding this thread, I'd put up a separate one, but it was merged. So, maybe you missed it.]
Yeah. I'll putting in my best to overpower the fear and come back blazing soon. You guys simply rock! I'm already feeling better.Originally posted by Samarth 619 View Post+1 to aargee... If we travel, its a risk, no matter what vehicle you're in/ on.
@ Divya: Yeah... Cars' drivers can never be changed. They have power and impatience: a very dangerous combination.
Just stay focused, avoid cars by moving out of their way (I know how they are, having spent thousands of kms on Jaipur-Ajmer highway now), keep an eye on both RVM's, change lanes carefully, etc... And within a month or so, you'll be back at your full speed.
PS: for 6 years, I never had any accident expect on 3/8/2010 when some bike rider had his headlights off in pitch dark. Fractured. Even now, I have a steel rod in my right arm, but I have recovered well, even mentally. Now, I ride at my normal speeds and with full caution and confidence too.
Now, that happened when I faced the fracture, not seen anyone else face it. Even Prince, an Xbhp friend of ours, had some serious multiple fractures but he's back now.. And you have just seen it happen to someone... So, no worries. Everything will get back to normal with time...
Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Some observation...
1:22 - Instead of "But they could not ever see me" something like "For some strange reason, they seem to take no notice of me"
1:52 - The next song that start could've been faded well with the first so that before the end of first ends completely second could bring up to the tempo
2:31 - Couldn't really get on "Nothing more than the way I looked"
2:50 - Significance of CBR's speedo?
2:57 - Video really scares when ppl riding off so fast (I know the video is run fast)
Final message is on speed (noticed helmet in the left though), but, I'd rather insist on riding carefully, stick to law & wearing protective gears rather than insisting only on speeds.
OT - Thanks for your post here

ya thats true, but imagine riding on ahighway at say 100 kmph and a car is in front of you, you honk your horn, they will neither increse there speed nor give way. this is also a harsh reality.Originally posted by aargee View PostThat's what they say about people riding two-wheelers & truckers too; its all part of the game, each one blaming the other

I've seen that a lot of accidents are due to noobs (especially on 2-wheelers) riding rashly and banging onto others. When 2-wheeler bangs into a car, the car driver is held responsible.
This is what happened to a friend of mine. He was driving normally in his retro Maruti 800. 4 drunk buffaloes on a single bike, none of them wearing helmet moving on the wrong side of the road banged into his car. Windshield broke, one buffalo fell into the car at a high speed. 2 of the buffaloes severely injured, my friend several cuts. There was a big scene, with cops appearing and all that, but the report was written in favor of the buffaloes due to public sympathy. It did not mention that they were drunk or that there were riding quadruple. It said two guys were hit by my friend's 800. The buffaloes (sadly none of them died) sued my friend in court later, and my friend filed a counter-case. Finally due to sheer luck the legal system worked right and the verdict was declared in my friend's favor.
I think we should do what is often done these days in the US. People install cameras on the front and rear side of their cars. Some even on the sides. So that any accidents and the cams are there to say who was REALLY at fault and they can be used as evidence in court. I don't think such equipment should cost much. We *could* try installing removable cams on top of our helmets so that whatever we see gets recorded. At night clear the memory and recharge the battery so that we can record fresh footage while riding the next day. What say guys ? If something goes wrong, this cam is there to help you legally because India is (no offence) largely a lawless nation full of bribe seeking b@st@rds who milk those with money.Currently without a vehicle. Uber App and Bangalore Metro serving all my travel needs.

been doing that in our car, though the cam is not installed, it just sits in someone's hands (mostly my sister's) and records the view from windshield. And trying to have a mounting point for bike.Originally posted by MHG View PostI think we should do what is often done these days in the US. 1) always anticipate problems at gaps in dividers.
2) i dont know at what speed he was riding, but ungeared scooters generally havr a very poor stopping power. they cant stop like a bike. so rid carefully and slowly.
a few days ago i was going from aamby valley to pune when i saw a guy on a dio, and you won't belive he was on 80 kmph on a completely wet highway in night without helmet wearing slippers and criss crossing through traffic like anything. the must be high on something.
not to offend anyone, but guys ride carefully and always ride within your and your bike's capabilities. always anticipate obstacles and sudden problems. even if you see a dog on the side of road, prepare yourself for sudden braking an if possible slow down a bit, coz you can't control when that dog will fancy a jump ahead of your bike.
ride safe brothers. really safe.
hope you recover soon.
