A few days back on the Mum-Ahm Highway I saw a accident ( I mean I see one almost daily... sheesh!) but this one was different!

There was a traffic jam like hell! and loads and loads of glass peices lyin around!

I mean it was spread for a good 500 meters!!! I was so tensed as I was thinking that it would have been a HUGE pileup as the amount of glass was probably a 1000 (yes thousand times, thats right) times more than what you would expect when a Bus crashes to a Bus and all the windows break!!!

I was a bit low that day, so I was hoping that I dont see any bodies and all, as it looked like the accident had happened just a few minutes ago!

Then Finally I saw the accident vehicle....

It was a truck loaded with Glass.... it perhaps had a tyre burst and a lot of those glass sheets fell out of the truck, and so it lost its balance and crashed!!!

Luckily no one was around that vehicle (i think) else it would have been a helluva experience!

Oh and anybody wanting to post in this thread and dont have any material, and live around mumbai... have a ride in the Ghodbunder twisties.... you will enought to write about!

A new funny accident which my friend and his friend had a few days ago on NH6. They were going from Bhilai to Rajnandgaon riding a Passion at 70 kmph, suddenly a dog came from nowhere crossing the road they had a crash, both were hurt.
          What's so funny?
The dog was stuck in the spokes of the Alloy wheel of the Bike.

I am sorry, but perhaps my sense of humour is really not upto that level, thankfully! I seriously DO NOT see anything funny in that incident. Your friends got hurt, the poor dog perhaps must have been hurt as well, not to mention the damage to the..

This is about my accident that happend few months back (May 28th 2008)

This is my only accident till now in all the years of my biking, scootering and cycling experiences. It happened exactly one year after I bought my CBZ Xtreme and its Insurance was also renewed exactly two days back.

Time was around 10.00PM, I was in my office and was about to leave home. Got call from my friend lokesh who operates from another building of same company near to HITEC City(Hyderabad). He said that we will go and have Tikka's & Kebabs at a place which is around 15kms from my office. So even I was hungry and said Ok to him. With in 10mins I went to his office so that we both can go along. He rides a Avenger and me CBZ Xtreme. I was wearing a Helmet, Gloves and Sandals (No Shoes, Since it was Friday) and a half hand t-shirt.

So once we came to Cyber Gateways near to HITEC City, I had to fill petrol in my bike. So did that. My friend said that there is newly laid road which is about 1km long and is pretty smooth. I was driving at 60-70kmph since it was already 10.15pm and roads were open with out traffic. I saw a road open and pulled throttle of my bike to full and I was around 110kmph in no time. My friend was way behind me. Road was awesome and open.

But suddenly from no where, I see a sharp curve going right and damn there were no lights around and to my luck there was sand all over the road. And I was at speeds of 110kmph and a curve that I can’t take it at that speed. I applied both the brakes, by the time bike wud have come under control, it was already on sand and my bike started skidding on it.
From here, My mind went into retrospections, Remembering my parents, my best friends, and I was fixed that this was my last minute on the earth and I was regretting about my mistakes I have done and dint say good bye to my mom while going to office that morning. And I was ready to take the fall and left my bike's handle of just having a hope that I don’t come under it. All this happened in a second and yes our mind operates so fast that no super computer can match it in retrieving the deep lost memories. I decided that I am going to die now and people will be remembering me, the speed which I was on was merciless and I had no hope of escaping it.

Once I left handle of my bike, I remember me falling on right side and my bike went away in straight line and I was moving in other line with slight angled to my bike. Once I felt down I don’t know where my bike was, But I remember my taking 5 to 6 flips, later I can feel my helmet scratching on the sand and sand coming into my face, went into ears, mouth and nose too. After been dragged on sand for almost 15-20 meters, I came to rest and I was lying on my back. My eyes were closed, and thinking that, where would I have been placed? Is it Heaven or Hell???. I was not able to dare to open my eyes. But suddenly something went through my mind. I remembered that my friend lokesh was way behind me, and then I opened my eyes. I was not able to see properly because my helmet visor was scratched completely and some part of it was broken, but I can see my stars above in the sky. So a little ray of hope came that I was still on earth, did not have any relocation.
So I Sat, and looked around and I can see only rocks and mud and sand all around me. I turned back only to see that I am almost 15-20 meters away form the road. So I dint fell on the road as I fell down I came off the road on the Sand and Mud that was beside the roads which was thrown beside while digging the earth for the new road. I took out my helmet only to spit out the sand in my mouth, clear my ears of the sand and my nose too and on my hair also. Later removed my gloves and sand in them too.

I stood up, and I was not able to put pressure on my right leg, But dint feel any pain. So I limped slowly towards the road, and saw my friend cruising on his cruiser slowly around speeds of 50kmph. He dint noticed me since it was very dark and my friend was not expecting me to stand beside the road. I shouted "LOOOKESHHHHH". By this time, a guy whom I overtook at speeds of 110kmph stopped and came near to me and mean while my lokesh too stopped and came to me. Lokesh first question was.... "What are you doing here, We have still some distance to go and where is your bike?” Now I too had to ask this question to myself, "Where is my bike?” I searched around the place and found a light glowing, we three went near the light only to see that it was the LED glow of my bike's tail light and engine was off already. Lokesh was checking me out for any injuries, He said that I had injuries on my both elbows, but I was feeling pain even at my shoulder and my back. I was not able to straighten my left hand and was thinking that It would be a fracture, But my elbow was not swollen, So we made a conclusion that I dint had any fractures. And I was able to walk freely by that time and my limping was gone, but still me left hand was having problem. The other guy went off since he decided that I don’t have any serious injuries and Even I told him to leave saying him THANKS and we will take care.

Me and lokesh went towards my bike and were shocked to see whole front part of the bike is hanging on to the cables, Crash Guard gone inside the frame, front mud guard broken. Lokesh was not able to move it since the front fork had very bad bend and bike was in gear and gear rod was completely bent under the engine. Lokesh told me to first to get some first aid and let’s keep the bike here and pick it up next morning. But how can I leave my dear and lovely bike abandoned? I told lokesh to get an Auto trolley so that we can take my bike to showroom from where I bought it. So my friend left immediately to arrange a trolley. By that time I was waiting beside the road only to see people looking at me and my crashed bike and no one was having a thought of stopping by and helping a guy who had met with an accident, But this is selfish world and people are busy with their own life’s, Its not their mistake. I called up my colleague and friend Rajeev telling about the incident and told him to come the crash spot thinking that we may be needing the help. Rajeev said he will be there in 15mins. By this time Lokesh came with a trolley behind him, Lokesh and Trolley driver struggled for few minutes to load the a 145kg machine on the trolley, But they did it successfully, And we were ready to ride back to showroom which is around 15kms from the crash site. Trolley driver instructed me and lokesh to tell cops that I fell down and it was not any accident. I sat behind lokesh on his avenger with bruised elbows and big scratch on them and my shoulder was hurting badly.

Trolley was following us since driver does not know the route to the showroom. It was around 10.30PM, and passing through HITEC City with all Software Engineers, Project Managers, Trainees, CEO's were returning back from their office work. For almost a 5kms, My bike on a trolley was famous and people were expecting the rider to be dead looking at the condition of the bike, But that rider was busy taking pictures of his crashed bike.

Trolley driver avoided crowdy areas so that we don’t attract cops who will definitely stop us and will set up a enquiry commission. Almost after 45mins drive to showroom, where my colleague Rajeev too was following us but came in different route to the showroom. We paid 500/- to the trolley driver for his cargo service for 15kms. And I told Lokesh to leave as he has to go for farther distance and it was already 11.30PM. So lokesh left from the showroom and Rajeev was left with me. I told the watchman to keep an eye on bike for 2 days, since the next day was declared holiday as there were by-elections going on. I gave him 100/- to take care. And me with Rajeev left to a hospital for checking out any defects in my body after the crash. So we went to hospital, cleaned my injuries and applied tincture and cream on it and went to take X-ray of my left hand since I was not able to straighten it up. That X-Ray technician had a look at X-Ray and said that there is no fracture. I called up my home, my dad took the call and I told him not to tell to my mother and come to hospital. After 10mins my dad came to hospital with my mom (Its just 2kms from my home), who was already in tears, But she felt relaxed once she saw me only with minor injuries. And the doctor too said everything is fine, anyhow to check out with Orthopedic later.

So I told my parents to leave and I will be coming with Rajeev with medicines to buy. After 15mins, We both reached home and I was busy with my laptop already to check my office mails, Gmail and orkut of course. And I am back to normal. Rajeev left shortly as it was already 12.00am midnight.

I was lucky to get out of minor injuries even at that speed. Two days later I went to Showroom to see my bike was already placed in Showroom, Once I went to supervisor there and told what will be estimation for the repairs, He checked complete bike and said that I may cost around 5000-6000. So I told him to proceed with the bike repairs and will be collecting it in 2 days. But had to receive it after 3 days since they were not able to get Meter assembly skeleton.

I was happier to see my bike after crash that when I bought it. My mistakes were, I was speeding on a unknown road, I dint know where to speed and where to slow since I was riding for first time on it, Second, There weren’t street lights around.

Life gave me a second chance, God said that I have still few things to do in my life, I have still many responsibilities to take care of and I wont get any early exit until I do them. I need to feel those responsibilities and importance of my life to my parents and my friends.

Thanks to Lokesh for being with me and giving me care and support and Rajeev for taking his time out for me and staying with me.

Please wear a Full Face Good Quality Helmet, Dont go by Style or stature. They will be useless with out you.

I Agree with what youve written here, even ive experienced this, exactly what youve written here, all the things happened in our life comes in a flash, and the "time of flight" though is just a second or few milli seconds, but the duration feels very long. May be this is what people say "seeing life infront of eyes"

RIDE SAFE Ifnot You wont be Alive to say to others that:

*it wasnt your mistake, the truck came on wrong way(never trust anyone on road),

*You were driving safe, he hit me from back(rear view mirrors are used by uncles or very old uncles, i agree because if they didnt have used it even they would not have survived the indian road rash, so better have four eyes on road than two)

*I've blown horn/dipped lights before overtaking(many driver in india take it as a signal for blocking, if you blow horn or dip lights or even ask for side before overtaking)

*The road was four laned with divider so i was driving fast(dogs, villagers, cattle they never found any difference in between 2 lane road and divided 4 lane roads, infact 4 lanes=more space to roam on for them)

these are few things you would not be able to say once things go out of your hand.

I learned many things from my own experience...

                            Hi all,

I have faced 3 accidents and learnt many things from it .
                            1. I was abruptly stopped by an speeding maruti omni from slow lane at intersection. There was a speed maniac (on Shaolin) who wanted to overtake the car from Right and failed to do so, dived on the left of the car head on where I was waiting (rx100, 0kmph speed) for the car to pass by. Poor fellow took me down with 5 stiches on forehead .
Lesson Learnt: BLIND SPOT and its IMPORTANCE. I analyzed the situation and learnt that every vehicle has a blind spot we need to be expect the unexpected.

                            2. When a bus suddenly stopped in front of me. Now, busses have a property, no indicators, show stop lights which never work on braking, driver attitude of owning the road and sharp left turns whenever they feel like scratching. My bike (yamaha Libero) was head went under the bus and i could stop myself by both the hands on the bus.
Lesson Learnt: Need to practice hard braking and counter-steering. I also learnt that the brakes are not meant to stop you but just slow you down, and counter-steering is only possible when you are below 5kmph speed. Else need to use advanced method like shifting your weight inside the turn with your head upright (this is the last thing i want to do ).

                            3. When my libero slipped and i had head injuries. Very bad one, no bruises on body, only head injury with 7 stiches. Was unconcsious for 3 days and bed rest of 1 month.
Lesson Learnt: Bike need to have a weight and frame which will not go hay-wire & misbalanced in just 3 years. I upgraded to Bullet Electra 5s with a cool head gear.
Bullet, Nothing else will ever do...

first accident on my Zma last week when I was taking a curve , a truck came in the opposite direction and I had to get off the rd and crashed.Thankfully I am lucky with crashes and was not hurt and went on to complete the entire trip. The bikes fork is bent and the fairing has a crack ...got to get it replaced via insurance.Thankfully as I was wearing my Jerkin and gloves I was not hurt.
