Of course there are bikes lighter than 145kg available in India. But none of those(minus the Duke) make any horsepower even remotely close to what the Mean Unfriendly Decepticon does.

@Prince Dont worry they will surely come up with a setup similar to the current P220 on the PuFS
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

            • Where is the "Saree guard" ??

The bike looks awesome from the front and side, but the rear seems to be a little disproportionate....May be tires are not doing justice(140 specs would have been better)
Atlast "Humaraa Bajaj" set to take on the world by storm....now bring on a Faired one as well, and kill R15/ZMR...
And always love Rajib Bajaj in those black tees, what ever the occasion may be...

If you read the zigwheels article on the engine + transmission here:

Engine and Transmission on the New 2012 Bajaj Pulsar Page - 2| Zigwheels.com

The cat con used in the PuNS is tiny as compared to the sizable one on the Duke. Smaller cat con = much cheaper to manufacture the exhaust = cost savings for both company and customer. What this also means is that the combustion efficiency achieved by the PuNS is much better than the Duke even though it doesn't use the more advanced Fi tech. Back in 2009, contrary to what happened today, the P220 Carb had to be introduced with a cat con whereas the P220 Fi did not have one though both were DTSi.

Just by ingeniously using a carb + triple spark-plug + SOHC + smaller cat con setup, BAL has easily saved costs in the tune of 20-25k. Add to it the comparatively thinner tyres, lack of the cast Aluminum swing arm, the thinner(but equally wide as the CBR) conventional forks saves another 20-25k. They can easily price the PuNS a good 50k less than the Duke and still make handsome margins + very well kill the competition (Come on! Why would you buy anything else if this sold for 75-80k OTR? Thats closer to FZ than to Zma). But considering how terribly overpriced the competition is, BAL can very well price this around 90-95k OTR (35-40k less than Duke) and still the general bike enthusiasts will be happy with the pricing.
This is the best post on this thread, without any doubt.

Today we have witnessed Pulsar mania, literally. Xbhp & Zigwheels were down for sometime. I don't think anybody heard of auto portals going down because of particular product launch.

People are really busy trying to compare this to all models out there and see what's common. But, most of them missed to spot what's different in this bike.

@antz.bin, you are spot on, Bajaj has come up with an ace in the form of triple spark plugs tech and eliminated the need for FI, which obviously brings down the cost considerably. The point you made on Catalytic converter is 100% spot on.. anybody can compare it with Duke 200's catalytic converter and see the difference.

So, if I go back and look at the threads where we speculated a lot, Bajaj has pretty much come up with everything 4-valves, liquid cooling, monoshock, discs on both wheels, save for the absence of FI.

Kudos to Bajaj for this outstanding effort. Look at the bike, I can't imagine a more tightly packed engine area than this.

Adding a Fairing would give this bike the unbeatable package. The reduced aerodynamic drag will help improve FE and top speeds further. The fairing will attract the Pojjher public, and the Projector Headlamps for best in class lighting.

I for one would still prefer a half fairing. Why carry all the bulk(and add costs) when half of it can perform almost as well. The price difference between the P220 F and the P220 S was just 2.5k. Thats an extremely small premium to pay for so many enhancements even if it comes with a 2 Kg weight penalty.

Saree Guard and Tyre hugger will be there once the bikes roll out.
You cannot kill R15 by simply bringing a Faired 200 NS.R15 is still a gem when comes to handling and performance.

                            • Once Pulsar has 100 spark plugs it won't need petrol any more because a single crank by all spark plugs will push piston just like that.
