Kinda disappointed that BAL made both the bikes terribly short geared and eventually the CBR won on the top speed / highway cruise speed front.
Now is the perfect time for TVS to do something

I completely agree with your mobile comparisons. Great.
Do you mean Honda quality has gone down??

    Commendable job by Bajaj

The Brand is the Only difference between KTM and Pulsars, Do not compare Duke200 with Pulsar 200,,,,,,
    They are same
KTM is in India really to sell their Bigger Bikes so KTM 200 is only a Initial Version,,,, we will see KTM350 and 690 Dukes will hit this year,,,,
Bajaj will also release a 150CC versions of the Same KTM Technology Engines,,,, in this year,,,,,
Come on.. Bajaj has done a good job for a home grown company. Let us give a little credit to the R&D Team. Technology sharing is nothing new. In that case no one should give credit to Bugatti for Veyron as the best engineering feat of the century. You could always say they just bolted 2 engines and made a Veyron.

Kudos to Bajaj for doing this job. Much better than any other product in the sub 1 lakh range.

mods: can u confirm the headlight details of 35/35 watt, and when can we expect a full/semi-faired version with projector headlamps-60 watts. also is there a higher CC bike also in pipeline, may be 6 months or so or the entire pulsar range will now consist of only one bike.
A pulsar 350 will launch soon after 350 ktm does. The engine would be shared like they did with the 200cc.

    Bike looks good....

from my side i would love to Fi on the bike...that's only draw back i see...

and i think they should incorporate the Fi as engine and other parts are taken from KTM then they should have done it...

That's really a beautiful looking bike. Awesome work by bajaj. Seems a bit like ducati streetfighter tough, which is a good thing.
With the launch of this bajaj will be in dilemma whether to push the new pulsar 200NS or the orange KTM.

You are right, it was just 8k. But now, the carb costs more than fi.

You I am absolutely positively sure the difference was 15k. The reason is the following story . I still remember the day I went to PBK back in June 2009 to book the P220 Fi since it was my dream bike back then only to be told that it was discontinued . Shocked as I was, I asked there has to be a new version to which the showroom staff replied in the affirmative. So I asked them what was the price difference between the 2 versions. The guy gave me another shock by telling me the difference was 15k .

Since, at that time, the P220 Fi was priced at 93xxx, I safely assumed that the new one would be priced at 1.08 lac (same as R15 back then) and so as I didn't have enough money to make the purchase , disappointed I was leaving the place. As a final gesture, I turned around to the sales executive and casually asked him the OTR price only to be given another shock . The answer (Rs. 78,220/-) had me almost jumping with joy and I immediately paid the booking amount and left.

P.S.: All prices OTR Nasik. Introductory price of P220 DTSi OTR Pune was Rs.78,117.
P.P.S.: Some facts may have been twisted to make the narrative more enjoyable . The actual booking was done on 20-July-2009 as documented below.

Here in maharashtra.. we r not being given test rides yet for the beast due to non approval of RTO.. so .. having complete faith in the owners posting in this thread.. i finally made my decision.

For the record.. there is no clear delivery date given. The guy said.. maybe 1 month maybe less... So Lets hope for the "Less" bit...

And also.. the price was revised from Rs.78145 to Rs.78220 OTR here in Nasik post budget.

For me the overall package is fantastic. I am expecting the bike to be not more than 90k OTR Pune , thats a substantial savings of 40 k over duke with a little less power and more mileage.

@MG/Inflammable : is the exhaust note any better than KTM ? Any idea if its a better handler than KTM ?

This bike in yellow looks fantabulous.
Even though it looks like its an amalgam of many bikes, the design is neatly sorted. The power is equally good and justifies the look.6speed tranny and mono shock and the mileage are the most welcoming things.
Did BAL mention anything about gear ratios(is it a close ratio like duke200)?
Is BAL afraid of the sales of duke200 to launch this bike early or anything else?
Hope BAL will price this bike around 220's price(don't mind paying 90kOTR for this).
