The thread was meant to discuss whether Karizma has lost/is losing is appeal.
It was not to discuss whether my toy (a Karizma) is better or the neighbor's toy (something else)!

Whether the Karizma has 'lost' is appeal - Not completely yet.
Whether it is losing its appeal - Yes!

That's all. BTW, AswinPrakas, HyperRetard, Above_all; you should not try defending your possessions just for the sake of it.

I also own the same bike. I know its short comings and its capabilities.
Hence, I've learnt to live with it, but I won't fight for false reasons just because I own it.

      Please keep the discussion healthy.

I didnt know that was a bad thing.

Please allow me to quote few lines from my first post in this thread...

As individuals our perspectives, needs, requirements and expectations from the same product may very well differ, because obviously each person can have his own point of view. But society as a whole is driven by generally common needs, requirements and expectations. Let me put the mobile phone example differently -- there will be many individuals who would prefer a simplest of phones; they would be happy if the phone is outstanding at just making/taking calls and never drops a signal. For them it doesn't matter if the phone has android/iOS/windows or whatever! However, in general, we can safely assume that mobile phones with as many features are the way to go in the mobile phone industry. It doesn't mean that the simplest of phones are not preferred.

Not just in India, we can take examples from everywhere -- take Honda SuperBlackbird for instance. The Blackbird was the fastest and the best hypersports motorcycle that one could own more than a decade back. It was just wonderful, the handling was predictable that inspired confidence and it was just very easy to get on and ride fast. I have owned and ridden one few years back. But then came the Suzuki Hayabusa and soon Blackbird was not favorite anymore anymore among many biking enthusiasts. Though the Blackbird went on to be a legend. However, it was wanted from Honda that they will upgrade the Blackbird and challenge the Busa. But Honda didn't, they instead came out with VFR 1200 after a long time that is in a different class of its own. And now it's mainly Kawasaki and Suzuki slugging it out in the hypersports category. May be Honda doesn't care much and may be many motorcyclists don't care either; but we sure would love an all new SuperBlackbird that would again set some standards. This is what and how we should be trying to discuss it here instead of taking it personally.

May be thread should be renamed to discuss motorcycle upgrade in general rather than concentrating on one particular product in order to keep this thread alive.

The point is -- since technology and research continue to grow, it is quite natural to expect change in any product that we humans develop. This is the purpose of development.

There are even more examples. Take different riding modes that are now pretty common in many motorcycles. Some motorcycles still do not have it like the Fireblade even when other motorcycles in its class have them. May be Honda doesn't feel the need to do it now, but they sure cannot ignore it. Honestly I don't care! But I believe in order to remain competitive each competitor needs to up the game in some way or the other.

Please feel free to decide if we should keep the discussion going, but let's do it in a healthy way.

PS: I have owned karizma for 5 years before someone comes and shoot me!

If he didnt, he was outright stupid.

And No, the Karizma won't lose anything by what I suggested, except that good but largely unneeded low end push.
19 bhp with enough midrange and 6 speed box will only increase its highway touring capability.
And by footpegs moving back, I mean so only slightly. I didn't mention anything about the high handlebar or seat, just footpegs.

In other words, "touching the sky without leaving the earth" is what I'm suggesting. Was just explaining my idea of a "better tourer"... No offence though.
Well, nobody ever complained about the lack of another cog, you being the first one.
19 BHP! Now who wouldnt want that? But the problem is that there can be no more juice extracted from it, without making it unreliable. Like a Bajaj

And about the footpegs thingy, I dont mind them where they are. It would hamper its touring abilities.
And ZMA/ZMR were never meant to be corner hungry anyway.

At this point in time for an enthusiast buying a motorcycle the Karizma is not an option. Just look at the 'What bike?' section, no more P220 or Karizma threads. And the reason is simple there are more options at the price point and people want the best (relatively speaking) for the money spent. For that matter the P220 is loosing appeal after the P200ns has been announced.

As far as touring goes whilst it is still one of the best it isn't the only option. The pulsars, yamaha R15/Fz etc. have been doing touring duty for a long enough time.

However what is important is that the Karizma has not lost its RESPECT. The brand name is still strong and a better variant will be a solid contender I'm sure.
Maybe for you, but it is an option for most people.

        • Think we've had enough discussion on this topic.

It is going way out of its designated path. Time to close.
