My bad, I missed to update the current status in this thread.

I request everyone to read this thread first http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/general-...ouse-fz18.html

At least read the posts by @shv18, and if you need any clarifications, bug him! (Sorry mate for putting this on you, but no else has done such a thorough investigation )

And yes Prateek, I will edit the first post itself! People should directly read the FZ18 thread instead of this one

@sdhanush1 : Like I mentioned in that post, I am currently running on big bore and ported head (which I doubt any porting was done ). After I get the FFE chrome plated or painted etc I will mostly sell it off. FFE does have slightly better mid range and lesser vibes at higher rpms but the constant back firing is irritating & the fuel efficiency is also lesser! In fact stock exhaust note of RTR is still one of the best in India

But one undeniable advantage I had with the big bore is the reduction in vibes! This has definitely helped me and I guess it is safe to say, I was one of those lucky few who didnt get a faulty bore! I want to make it clear that I am in no way recommending the big bore esp after reading what is happening to majority of people who got it!

So the answer to your question is simple! "Dont go for those mods"!

Mate you are making me a knight in shining armour in the field of hot roding whereas i am just a mere enthusiast!!

I am happy to see that a lot of people are referring to my posts and in the end if we all are collectively able to save them tens and thousands of their hard earned cash... the job is done!! One should especially refer to the technical posts on that thread mentioned by senior riders like psr ji and many others.. will really give you a good insight about how an engine functions.

That Tooner is nothing but a parts supplier and a bad one too: knows nothing about how they work!

All i can say is spare yourself the misery and if one is still enthusiastic about hot roding connect with better tuning houses who know a thing or two about performance upgrades...

Cheers,

@ Adarsh BK..... you forgot to mention how you tuned the Bike yourself "Better than the "Tooner" could, and resulted in better Low to mid performance WITH INCREASED FE...Not only that you also helped another RTR 190 member ....
@ Shv18...I am merely trying to help out with what little knowledge I had acquired..All of you will acquire greater knowledge and will shine much better ,and will be much more helpful to the future generation.
Good luck to you all.

Of course the credit for all that goes to you! I will never forget the fact that you yourself had sent me a PM asking if I needed any assistance!! That says a lot about a person

Adarsh _BK......I knew what you were going through, and having the knowledge couldn't keep it to myself. Ultimately IT WAS YOU who did the TUNING of the RTR 190 successfully... I had been doing this for many years, and the Tooner must be thinking that his kit is all tuned and running nicely.....he cares only for your money, and with less than good knowledge , he cannot be expected to do anything properly...He is good at taking people for a ride, esp., those who trust him.....An RTR owner's BB kit became defective in 5~6 K Kms and owner reverted back to stock...after some time he went back again to Tooner and the Tooner without conscience again supplied the BB kit AT ADDITIONAL COST only...so the owner paid twice for the same mistake...needless to say the second one also went Kaput and he permanently reverted back to stock....our Tooner of course refuses to take responsibility for the failures.....such is the greed for MONEY.

Update from my side as well..

I am a noob at technical stuffs of biking world,so bear me if I sound silly.. This is my genuinely experience... I'm not here to praise or point fingers at anyone..

I've clocked 3k+ kms after getting the mods from race concepts.. The initial 1k kms were amazing.. My rtr had transformed in terms of performance.. Great initials.. But top end was lower than my stock bike could reach.. Contacted TOONER a lot of times.. Everytime he would respond, but only after 8-10 texts or 3-4 phone calls.. And everytime I go with expectations to his workshop that my issue would be sorted out,he would rather tune my carb and assure that my issue is sorted out.. I visited his workshop 5-6 times and the same thing repeats.. then I gave up.. One point I would want to mention, till date TOONER never rode my bike.. Even for a checking purpose.. Even the guys at svc take a ride before and after service..
FE was bad, at least for me, I used to get 42-45 on stock setup.. But after the mods, it dropped to 30-32..

After initial 1.5-2k kms, I started facing issues... Carb choking, cold starts and slowly I felt my bike performance was going down.. I sought help from experienced members here in Xbhp(psr,Adarsh).. I got hold of local mechanics and got my stock carb jetted, and shifted to stock air filter as well..
All carb related issues have been sorted out as of now.. FE is definitely improved.. But there is no RTR feel left in my bike anymore.. I'm extremely disappointed for the amount of money I've wasted.. :banghead:
I've even gone back to stock exhaust as the wool in FFE is exhausted and that makes it Unbearably loud.. Comparatively bike is peaceful now.. I regret going for the mods, I learnt it the hard way and I would never encourage these mods to anyone..

This is my current setup :
-BB kit
-Stock jetted carb
-Simolta filter
-Stock exhaust

@ Kirankj.....I still remember your PMs asking for help in tuning your RTR 190 with 33mm Carburetor....Initially I had directed you back to the Tooner since he had taken your money and is duty bound to get the tuning right...Later on when it became evident that he was unable to do so, I had tried to help...Credit here goes to Mr.Adarsh BK also for helping you out to get at least stock performance and FE...and You Did Learn more thanks to your initiative .
In the end it was YOU who made the Effort and Got the Result you wanted. Do keep learning , and don't let anyone dupe you..

I was one of those guys who was taken for a proper ride in the initial months. And yes, this is one of the perfect example of negative impacts of greed for money!

Most welcome buddy, glad that I could be of some help atleast.

Let me try to sort out tuning issues further,

I would suggest you to try this setup, BBkit + Stock carb (with higher(richer) carb needle setting) + stock air filter + stock exhaust. Let me know how this works out for you. I am running on this setup now with 15T front sprocket and the bike has no issues reaching 130 given a long stretch of highway. Riding at 70-90kmph gives you FE close to 40kmpl.

Changing the needle setting is a must if you feel jerks at around 4k rpm. It might have to do something with the head work done on my bike (I am assuming no head work was done in yours?)

I'm still running with Simota air filter , reason : it keeps my engine rev freely.. with my stock air filter installed , bike struggles to climb on the rev meter..
and i forgot to mention about the Head work done on my bike..
I've tried getting my bike tuned a lot of times with the setup you mentioned, but it performs way below a stock RTR can.. as mentioned, struggles to rev freely
hence shifted to Simota filter..
Frankly, i still feel there is a problem with my carb jetting.. and i don't have right mechanics here to get it done the right way..

Is the stock air filter clean? Try to get a new air filter (costs 120+ bucks) and try with it. Check the spark plugs and clean it/change it if it is too black. The bike is not supposed to be sluggish with stock filter but Simota does free up higher revs. Do remember that Simota is very poor interms of air filtration! It lets in a lot of dust into the engine. And a bigger jet is a must if you are using Simota which is difficult to source!

I feel the reason for the difference in behavior of engine with stock Air Filter is due to the Head flow being wrongly done ....
