I think he's talking about what Thunder said. About who would believe the BS that Maxabout has put online about the RTR180.Originally posted by satyenpoojary View PostWhat is.... Did you post and remove something
Oh Please tell us!
As far as I know Joel here knows a lot more than what he can tell, and I've already tried probing him about. All we learned was that it's coming, and it may be over hyped somewhat. But also that it is most likely going to be a pretty darn good motorcycle, going beat the performance of the RTR160 by a good margin. (As that is their current offering, so they most definately have to better that.) So let's see, I'm hoping it's a slightly bigger bike with some nice features and decent looks. Aside from that I'm reserving judgment. (And jumping in some times when things get outrageous.

"Apparently" Harley Davidson is planning a 800-1000cc V-twin specifically for India at 3.75-4L. Indian superbike owners have participated in an opinion workshop and have come back very impressed and enthused. Now, if Harley can do a 800-1000cc twin for 3.75-4L, would expecting a 250 twin from TVS for under 2L be too much? Whoever said, it ain't possible and bad ROI and stuff. Mods please delete this post if it doesn't fit in here.

Well in that case the recent RTR180 might not be a fuel efficient oneOriginally posted by sai_ace View PostGuys the menace may be launched soon but for regular production, expect at least two more months. an yes, the Fi version is in pipeline. will be coming but not in the near future.Hell's Angel

A well tuned carb would return good fuel efficiency as well.. the Fuel Injection kit would only add to the cost.
From whatever I have gathered from this thread, the RTR would be priced around Rs. 77K-78K.. if a Fi fit is thrown into the equation, then the price might jump upto 84-85K (7-8K extra) .. which in all probablity might not make big numbers.
By the way a carb can be easily tuned for perfromance enhancing mods..

Can TVS do it that way?Originally posted by payeng View PostA well tuned carb would return good fuel efficiency as well.. the Fuel Injection kit would only add to the cost.

Going by example, which is more fuel efficient RTR160 or RTR160Fi?
same question @sai ace also.Hell's Angel

The fi is slightly more fuel efficient - i think. a negligible difference of say 4-6kmpl. Honestly, having ridden both the rtr and fi quite extensively, an rtr fi in my hands would be less fuel efficient than an rtr in my hands simply because of its willingness to rev much better.Originally posted by MACH50 View PostCan TVS do it that way?

Anyways, in the single cylinder bikes sold in our country under the performance banner fuel effiency is hardly mentioned. so yeah.
From what i gather developing a fi bike is still slightly more complicated than developing a similar carb bike - at least in TVS. That would probably explain the delay. Also, till the BS IV norms are enforced why not manufacture a carb bike at lower cost and sell it at a lower cost. Also by the time, fi technology should be more acceptable and cheaper hopefully.Originally posted by darkside_of_d_sun View PostThe BS IV emission standards getting implemented from 2010 would wipe out all carb bikes from India. I dont see a point TVS launching a new bike in 2009 with a carb only to discontinue it next year...but then I dont decide things at TVS.
