Now,My story is I brought a RX 135 of KA 05 registration and I live in madurai, tamilnadu.I have recived the bike's RC book and Forms 30 or 31 where the previous owner has signed that he has sold the bike to me but not the N.O.C.
Now I am unable to transfer ownership without N.O.C. And my contacts in the local RTO office are telling me not to register the bike, its better to sell it off in bangalore,Because, while it can be done, the transfer alone would cost 8-10k and anywhere between 4-6months for completion.I would also have to pay the taxes from 2001 to current dateand life tax again. They advice to sell it to somebody in karnataka and buy a TN reg bike.Though the bike needs some cosmetics the engine and other parts are in good shape and its still in first owners name.I had the bike rebored and transported to madurai.I even spent money on mudguards and some other parts without realizing that could not ride it:banghead:

Gurus,Please help me find a way around this mess.Is there any other way out.I really can't spare 15-20k right now,as my savings is already standing in my garage covered,so i would not see it everyday and punch myself in the face.

as you do not have the NOC so getting the bike transferred to your name in TN will be difficult.

If you still in Bangalore get the bike transferred in your name with KA05 number. so legally you will be the owner of the bike in Bangalore. once the bike is transfered to your name you can apply for NOC for TN and take the bike with you.

In regards with the transfer process it should not take more then 15 days in Banglore.

          Hello Neelesh,
Thanks for your reply. But as i said,I have taken the bike to tamilnadu. Do i have to produce the bike at the rto office or is the papers enough? Can a friend do it for me,without me coming to bangalore? BTW do you have any idea about the cost involved. Sorry for the torrent of questions.Waiting for your reply.
          Again thanks Neelesh

Yes, as per the rule the bike has to be in Bangalore in case the RTO office demand to see the bike then it will be a hassle. However (Normally I do not suggest) if you take the help from an agent they might manage.
You need to produce your address proof , ID proof & if asked then Driving Licence in Bangalore and I doubt your friend will be able to do that.
Cost I would not be able comment as it vary from state wise. N.O.C. fees is about Rs.300. + Transfer fee + agent commission (if you assign an agent for work)

I would suggest take the Bike to Bangalore as it will ease the job for you.

Thanks neelesh. But i dont think you got it.I am not from bangalore and dont have any sort of proof or documents there. My brother bought the bike there when he was working there and took it with him when he moved to back to chennai.I got a RE classic 350 for him and took the rx for myself. He being the laziest fellow you could find was driving the bike after getting the insurance renewed as the previous owner(1st) didnt give the N.O.C. and he did not want to lose his weekend's sleep. He was actually riding it without any papers in chennai and just parked it for a year, when it wouldn't start.I didn't know there was no noc when i took it from him. It's in good condition cosmetically and in top condition regarding the engine. Its popping wheelies in 2nd gear

I think i would do better to sell the bike in bangalore. But i took to madurai in tamilnad. Now i have to ship it all the way back to bangalore:banghead:

                  Need some help here.
I purchased a 200NS in March in Bhubaneswar,my place of residence. However, since I have had to move to Bangalore for my studies, I have decided to get my bike over here via train by mid-October. What is the procedure needed in order to re-register it in Bangalore. Since I have to study here for the next 5 years,I am assuming the best course of action is to re-register it here. Is there any other alternative though?
                  Thanks in advance.

Can somebody throw some light on transferring vehicle ownership within Tamilnadu?
The bike I bought was registered at chidambaram and now it needs to be transferred to my name in chennai. Is NOC necessary? Information greatly appreciated.

Getting angry at somebody is the same as getting angry with a bike that just won't go. You should stop and start thinking.

Do you have Plans to settle down in Bangalore? if not then getting your bike registered is not necessary. Would suggest to just pay the ROAD TAX.

You can go for Road tax payment which will be ideally for life time for private vehicles (unless they allow you to pay the tax for 5 years only).

For Private vehicle (bike/CAR) you can go to the RTO in Bangalore with the proof of transportation of your bike, like receipt from Railways or from a transport Company that will show on which date your bike has landed in Bangalore.

Now the question arise is will it be costly? That will definitely be cheaper than getting the bike transferred as, that will involve NOC cost, Road Tax and re registration Fee.
So once you pay the Rod tax you are free for your life time to ride your bike in any city of Karnataka.

Documents required for Road Tax / Registration are as follows:
                      • You’re Driving Licence
                      • ID Proof of the person on whose name the Bike is purchased.
                      • Actual Invoice of the bike when purchased.
                      • Valid Insurance of the bike
                      • Local address Proof
                      • NOC from you RTO where the bike is currently registered Issued to Bangalore RTO (Only if you want to transfer the bile to Karnataka).

                            hello people,

I know this has been discussed a lot of times, but again just confirming.
I am planning to shift my Ninja 250r from chennai to kerala(thrissur) for a period of ONE year only.
This means I don't have to get an NOC from Chennai RTO right?
I just have to bring the bike to kerala and pay the tax at the Thrissur RTO for a year.
This will ensure I am not harassed by the police.. correct?

Please correct me if anything is wrong.
Also what is the amount of tax for one year? Its 2011 model vehicle.
