    2. Once I take my bike to BLR, do i have to take it to RTO immediately, or there is some buffer time for that available??
    3. Is there any way I can retain my MH number?? I bought a fancy number here in Pune. Wouldn't want to lose it now.

Thanks for the help in advance,
    Nilesh
    1. No you don't need to pay any sales/ octroi tax as you bike is more than 6months old. As per Motor Vehicles act.
    2. Once your bike reaches BLR you can ride your bike upto 1 year without paying road tax retaining MH number. But if you plan to settle there permanently then your bike has to be reregistered within a year.
    3. If you want to retain your MH number then everytime you need to hide from cops. If caught be smart clever and obviously there is a way to get out of it. (Nah not bribe, never do so)
    Always carry supporting documents.
Every state has different rules. So confirm. I know GJ and MH rules well.

      • Regarding bike tax in Chennai for KL registered bike

Hi I have searched extensively in this forum but am unable to find a solution...
I plan to take my KL registered FZ to Chennai for around 6 months. As bike is not in my name, it would be a bit of headache to get the NOC and all. I plan to pay the TN vehicle tax for 1 year. Can anybody please suggest if this is the best procedure? Or any other alternatives other than getting NOC?

        Please help...

Sumeet my Friend, Take NOC from the RTO you bike is regustered in, take the NOC with the bike to Indore RTO, submit your document(RC & NOC & local address proof),. make sure that the NOC should be in favour of RTO indore.

I am in a complex situation with my Bike. I bought my bike in Pune, and around 2 years back I came to Bangalore, I rode the bike to Bangalore and didn't bother about NOC or anything that time. Now to make the matter worst, I lost my original RC card. I settled in Bangalore, and I don't have a original RC nor I have NOC from Pune RTO. I tried to get a duplicate RC, but they need a Pune address proof, which no one is ready to give. What are the options I have and how should I go about it? Please advice.

                    Thanks,
                    Dipayan

                    • Is NOC needed for a short trip

Hey guys I rode from kolkata to chennai about 2 weeks back... now im facing problems with the police outside my grandmums place who stop me everyday and ask me for NOC... I have told them that I am not shifting to chennai but the cop was like if its 1 or 2 days then NOC is not required but more than that it is... im getting confused because I thought that NOC is only required if im planning to transfer my bike and change the address on the registration..

Its one month as per the latest ammendment by KA RTOs dated 27th Feb 2014. Soon, other states would follow suit!

Depends on how long you plan to stay. If >2 years, get KA reg plates. Makes sense. Else just pay the tax.

Edit - IIRC, tax should be 79% of 12% of bike's invoice amount.
