  • My Tuned R15

    ****Update specs as of 14/04/2010****
Its my 7 months old R15 with 12000kms on the odo and not stock anymore. Completed a performance build about 2 days ago.

Here are a few specs of the bike as of now. The specs are always due for changes as and when I desire.
This is purely a street build and not a race build. key is reliability, economy and rideability.

    Engine:
*Ported and polished cylinder head with altered port geometry
    *Custom designed valve springs
    *Stock Valve sizes
*Full Race camshaft with custom ground profile
    *High compression set-up
    *165cc
    *Fine tuning and set-up corrections
    *Max revs - 12500rpm
*Stock throttle body and intake tract

    Fuel management:
    *Stock Injector
    *ECU (under development)
    *Altered fuelling

    Gearing:
    *Stock sprockets
    *Stock Gearbox
    *Stock Clutch

    External:
    *Stock looks
*Hand crafted Tuned Free Flow exhaust
    *Full stock weight, no lightening

    Performance:
    V-box test
    My R15
    0-60kph - 3.2secs
    0-100kph - 8.5secs
    0-400mtrs - 16secs
    400mtrs - 132kph
    max speed achieved in 1km - 155kph

    Stock R15
    0-60kph - 4.6secs
    0-100kph - 13.65secs
    0-400mtrs - 18.5secs
    400mtrs - 114kph
Updated as per V-box tests on 21/06/2009

Top-speed – 140kmph (As tested on 24/15/2009 on GPS and Speedgun, with rev-limiter cutting off speeds @ 10000rpm)

The engine has higher low-end torque than a stock R15 untill 5000rpm and from then on, it gets into the powerband with a stronger pulse. The engine is very streetable and reliability is as much as stock. After being thrashed for over 200kms last afternoon and being pushing to top-speeds numerous times as part of my destructive tests, there was not a hitch in performance or engine NVH levels. The engine stills returns decent fuel efficiency for the power it generates. It’s approximately around 30-35kmpl.
Last afternoon, when we tested the bike, a stock R15 would clock 119 to a max of 125kmph on a hopelessly windy road (with multiple efforts) and at the same point my R15 clocked 131-138kmph. And recorded a max of 140kmph on a clear patch, with the rev-limiter kicking in @ 10000rpm.
I will also do a Dyno run and post results here.
Pictures and a video clip are with our boys. They should post up in a while now

A small video of the exhaust note and the rpm climbing.

Was expecting something along these lines when you posted up about the free-flow being developed and tested

I'd love to witness the V-Box tests. Will call you this week to check up on the schedule for the same. The awesomeness never seems to die down as concerns you, Joel !

Fabulous work sirjee...i had been keenly waiting for the update on your R15...thats an appreciable increase in top speed in windy conditions...

PS:-no plans for further weight reduction of the already light bike??

            CC is 149.
Power and torque bump will be proven on a dyno. No comments till then. I have clearly mentioned all the specs, its says...modified stock piston .

@rossiter - that was quick. Thanks

            @maverick - Thanks man.

A ported R15... can't imagine the performance... Even a stock R15 had satisfied my needs...

Is it full port or a semi-port engine???

@joel when can we expect the stage 2 or 3 mod .

Guys i got to rip joels bike and it would easily touch 140-142 on the Speedo . On the GPS it use to do a true 135 with ease with me riding it.The bike is really mind blowing. you got to ride it to believe it .

pics and video of the bike will be up shortly.
