Thanks Rajkumar.Originally posted by Rajkumar11 View Post@Joel- Great Effort
That is not an air temperature sensor on the intake manifold. What you are referring to is the MAP sensor (Manifold Absolute Pressure). It is basically a piezo-resistive diaphragm which converts the change in air pressure into electric signals and sends it to the ECU.
Yamaha chooses to call the same MAP sensor, intake air temp sensor. Thats all.sigpic

Yup. Its to sense the manifold pressure. They say its the air temp thats recorded to the ECU.Originally posted by Rajkumar11 View PostSuprising to see Yamaha make such a mistake. The sensor has nothing to do with temperature.sigpic

^ MAF arent generally used in simple alpha-n systems like the R15's, they're mostly used in more complex speed density systems. I'm pretty sure the sensor on the R15 is MAP
edit:
heres the diagram provided by yamaha, looks like there are 2 sensors so i could be wrong. Joel can you confirm if there are 2? i dont recall seeing 2 sensors at the intake

^This is exactly what I was saying. The R15 has an intake temp sensor and they do not call it MAP or MAF, which senses the air density and sends signals to the ECU. Its more of a MAP function than MAF however.
There is only one sensor at the intake. I've stripped the stuffs and havent seen anything around the intakes, except the lean angle sensor behind the airbox.
The only sensors from what I've seen and verified on the R15 are,
*lean angle sensor
*Crank angle sensor
*air temp sensor on manifold
*Engine temp sensor on cylinder head
The picture above points to the same object as intake temp sensor and intake manifold sensor. I feel its an integrated funtion then.sigpic

stupid question may be,,,,,,,,,
but whenever u see any engine,,,,,,,, u just away know what to do
i meant from ur experience
or you have to think on many aspects and like others
this R15 is also a product of long thinking,,,,,,,
one thing is for sure,,,,,,,,, that u have to decide for what purpose like u decided street friendly with race level performance
i meant what kinda thinking n in what procedure all your mods take place
if ur free to share
i am asking the ideology
Hope is a good thing ,
may be the best of things and
no good thing ever dies .

I hope you know what you talking.Originally posted by digislayer View PostJoel, did you shorten the connecting rod?
BTW, why does one need to change the connecting rod?
Many here on xbhp belive that by changing a connecting rod length means, changing the stroke length. God save them.
My bottom engine is bone-stock. Havent even removed the clutch and magnet cover till date on my engine.sigpic

Well, wat I thought was:
1)You say your cylinder is modded.
2)You say you didn't replace the piston
3)The bottom part seems to be grinded/polished in this pic:
(Check the encircled areas)
4)So, I thought grinding there also means that the cyl position might be slightly lowered, thus asking for a slightly shorter conrod(please excuse me if I'm talking nonsense)Last edited by digislayer; 05-29-2009, 05:10 PM.Sunny.
