  • Its for all the bike lovers i got to know that yamaha is working on two new variants of r15 these will be with 220cc single cylinder engine and will be launched in march 2010. and a 300cc+ variant with twin cylinder. And this is not a joke. My friend did his training in yamaha plant and he told me lots of thing of yamaha. one of the thing is that yamaha was initially planning to launch r15 bellow 80k but as Indian vendors denied to manufacture the r15 engine( some commercial or technical issue) so now they are importing R15 engine from Indonesia as cbu thats why price of bike is so high. May be with the launch of their 220cc varient they might reduce the price of r15 also.

As my friend said 220cc will be named may be R12 as they want to maintain the R series looks. but i dont think so that it will be. But one thing is sure it will hit the indian roads next year in march but nothing sure about 300+. I dont want to start any debate on this. Only thing is the person from where i got this info is very reliable. while training he saw the yamaha plan for india.

And guys no one can deny from tha fact that yamaha is soon going to enter the 200+ cc segment.

If you want, you can share more information on current R15 up gradation. I would like to know more news on that.

      • well all i know i already told you. About r15 i know those things now which are all ready reveled. Like initially when the production of r15 was started in noida plant they manufactured first 15 bikes and sent them to japan for testing thats why there was no spy pics or kind of stuff after auto expo. yamaha is very strict regarding there designs and upcomming models.

If we can trust the source, this is a great news.

                          • Yamaha needa enter 200+ segement to cope up with the other players like bajaj/HH...

now what bike they are goina give us is the question ?

What we want is a screamer/track tool...if they launch 200+ avatar of r15 and fz that would be fine

                            • i think they will also be doing some cosmetic changes like broader rear tires a bit increased wheel base. and it is necessary what do you think?????

                              • No offence mate but in "marketing" speak renaming the next iteration of the R series R12 would be akin to suicide. Besides i don't think Yamaha will dribble in filler products like 200-220. Imho the most logical thing for them to do would be get a 250cc bike.
