    Golden Eggs..??

The Yamaha R15 and FZ16 has been nothing short of a breath of fresh air for the 'desi' bike enthusiast. I say this because the 150 cc (and above) segment in India was getting stale and crowded with look alike models with more or less same features, performance and dynamics.

The 'Distinct International Looks' has ensured that there were many who are ready to pay a premium for these bikes. Yamaha India has certainly managed to push the envelope of 'desi biking' in India.

Its clear that currently the the FZ is the Goose which is laying the proverbial Golden Eggs for Yamaha.. but what about the Fazer..?? Will it be another of those golden eggs..??

Just one point to ponder: It has been around a week since the Fazer has been launched officially, some xBhp-ian's have even taken its test ride.. but so far there has been no xBhp-ian who has stepped forward to book the Fazer.. Did we miss something here..??

      Apache series a failure

so from what does TVS owners earn the money to run that company
      hmmmm.....
a very strange and mysterious puzzle ... lets us all solve it and open companies and earn profits even if the products are loss or a failure
Hope is a good thing ,
may be the best of things and

Yeah, on iterates over the looks and the other over the performance.

How can a mere performance evolving company can compete with looks iterating company? Time has proven again and again this when HH kept selling their beauty queens in more number than rest combines .. so off course RTRs are failure .. but what can I do to my heart who just love them but alas people like me are just mad and can't see worth of cosmetic updates .. like how a crown can save you from direct hitting winds .. and how different color scheme can help in heat management and scatters some alien pheromones which can tame majority of social animals known as Indian bikers

P.S.>: All thoughts are my own imagination and not triggered by or targeted towards anyone, so please PEACE PEACE. No offense to anyone at all. Sincere apologies if someone gets offended.

Payeng sir i doubt Yamaha's strategy is to sell the Fazer by droves like the FZ16. The positioning of the product and the touring ad all scream niche product with emphasis on a niche segment in the market. As for the both of them selling it's hardly been days since the ads been out for both the Fazer and the RTR180 so i would give them both breathing space. Besides i believe marketing plays an important role in making or breaking a product. Both bikes have ads which will immensely appeal to people on Tbhp (i.e. why do i race and the Touring spirit ad) but it doubt it will connect with the majority of the "aam junta" who look at bikes as commuters. Unless that attitude changes i doubt a lot is going to change for us bikers since manufacturers will be reluctant to give us higher capacity bikes at lower prices.
Point to be noted that Bajaj is going back to the 100cc segment and i am pretty sure Yamaha will too.

Yamaha's strategy is foolproof considering the mentality of indian consumers otherwise where in this holy world you have the same machine being positioned both as a street bike as well as a touring bike with just a cosmetic makeover...Damn!!

..And i am not amongst those who sneak in their friends and relatives homes to see what bikes they are riding and then deciding upon those.I have my own mind, my own requirements and if a bike does provide bucketloads of what i anticipate then i dont give a damn to those sales figures.

I seriously doubt that positioning the product as a touring bike will get tourers to buy it. A zma/220/bull is a much better bet. I have no data to back this up, but i think that most of buyers of the new yamahas really don't buy it for its handling/performance but for the sheer poser value it gives(No offence, i respect what yamaha have been doing lately ). In that respect, the new fazer is quite a looker and it will definitely sell, even if it was positioned differently.

                        Well said sir !!
Coming to Fazer 150, Styling has nothing to do with touring, but I expect Yamaha to make it cruise at approx. 80 kmph at about 6K RPM to make the engine stress free and munch miles w/o that stress. I'm sure on long term this bike will be a hit. BTW, how many in India buy a bike exclusively for touring ? They will commute as well, so as a commuter/Tourer, Fazer is a good product.

Oh my God, a futile comparison between Indian and European equations.

By the same token, what is harmful if HH brings out a CD100, a 100 CD tourer with half fairing, a 100 CD Track tool () with full fairing to compete with impending R25, a CD 100 with low-slung chopper(to compete with impending HDs), a DC 100 for off-track use, a XXX-100 CD for fairer sex motorcyclists. Oh God. This is where you want us to head to. Just joking since I cannot be kidding.
