  • Whats WRONG with PEOPLE??

I am pissed off big time on people commuting or walking on road especially 35+year group.

u wanna know why?? So this is what happened today-I am riding my bike at a speed of about 40-45kmph normal for our roads and mindin my own business. But suddenly an elder lady comes right in in front of me going wrong way on her kinetic

I dont know what to do cause she is just like 3-4 mts away from me so i slam the brakes, loose control and WHAM i go and get crashed in the old lady.

people come rushin pick us up and the vehicles and START BLAMING ME!!!

they said i was RASH DRIVING. Now guys wat was i supposed to do,these people think i am young and have speedy lookin bike SO THEY COME TO THE CONCLUSION OF ME BEING DRIVING LIKE CRAZY and that there is no fault of the lady who by the way was not wearin a helmet or gloves. it was me who was wearin the helmet and the gloves and what did people say I AM SHOWING OFF by wearin fancy lookin helmet and riding a fancy bike

i was like wtf is goin on here. I somehow managed not to loose control and apologised to the lady and came home entire way thinkin of whats up with people in India?

Relax dude, this is India after all. Happens to everybody, everyday. I (as a biker) am considered irresponsible because I ride a 220 instead of a splendor. Indian thinking is age=experience=responsibility. Nobody realizes that while driving age doesn't bring responsibility. skills and practice do. Unfortunately this mentality is the further supported by countless kids who ride their dad's bike, then crash and kill people. Kids who don't know left from right and dont know the difference between breaking and turning.

In this country biking is considered juvenile and a sign of immaturity. That is not about to change overnight. Best we can do is be the ebst biker we can be.

same thing happened to me but it was an old man on a splendour who dint bother to put on the indicator or show his hand and turned suddenly and i people said exactly the same thing to me all these dumb people are under the impression that if you own a faired bike you are always speeding and its always your fault even if your standing on the road and your bike parked next to you and some guy hits you its your fault thats it i hope you and your bike are fine

@Ashes: I understand your frustration with the way people drive.
However, you must realize that there is nothing you can do and least of all you cannot expect others to drive sanely. All you can do is try to enhance your own situational awareness when on the road. Expect people to cut across/slam brakes and do all sorts of things.

Getting frustrated with the crazy way people drive only results in our loss of concentration while driving.

What is wrong with people? - Getting license without giving test, riding without license, inability to think they are not Hulk, illusion that I am the king of the road...oh wait...that's not calling "being wrong". It is normal.

Jokes apart, shit happens bro. I have had many such incidents, one of them being reason for my thumb fracture which still pains at times. Well people are not expected to be right all the time. In your case it was an old lady. I am not sure how old but if she was like 35+ then it is normal for her to have a higher reaction time and hence not being able to comprehend the possibility of you coming from behind. Could be anything man. She might be thinking of something, you might be thinking of something, she thought you will brake, you thought she will brake and there goes a list of N permutations-combinations that we can have here.

Whatever has happened has happened. The question is what do we learn from this? At least I learned that I need to slow down on seeing a lady riding in front of me, especially an older one. It is my general rule to get extra-careful whenever there is a lady/girl/aunty riding/driving in front of me. And don't hurry to overtake them. Take your time, settle down the pace and then overtake. I might sound funny but can't help. There is nothing we can do. Talk about it for couple of days, learn something and move on. All the best .

dude if anything like this happens anywhere in the world
people have a tendency to have sympathy towards ladies and elderly people .... not a special trait in INDIA

happened with me also... TWICE.... due to one which still i am suffering
such small things have happened to many xBHPians who dont warm their couch and ride out there

now i feel its a part of biking here

atleast people picked u up and did not start hitting you ...
thank them and thank your luck
                  see positive aspect of things

PS : no offense from my side mate.... take it positively and if ur hurt from that accident ... get well soon

                  cheers
Hope is a good thing ,
may be the best of things and
no good thing ever dies .

We all know this happens when we see it happening to others, but when it really happens to us, we feel what the f*&#!
One piece of advice, when riding/driving in India, always expect the unexpected.
As OF Sir had written in one of his Hard Torques, we must tune our reflexes&mind to such an extent that it surpasses all these deterrents on our roads.
Take it in a positive way, we Indian bikers are faced with so many hurdles daily that our reflexes are the most superior!

dude.. from now on, make it a point not to go too close to a lady driver or an auto rickshaw wala..both are equally dangerous..everyone says that gals are much more safer drivers and the guys are rash n all that stuff...the fact i ve seen is that they are over careful that they forget whats happening around them... Even i had a similar incident recently and luckinly nothing happened as i was coming slowly....a 40+ lady just crossed the road near a blind curve without looking anywhere..
PS: no offence to any one here...there a few who drives well..that i know...but i am talking of the majority ..
Similarly these auto drivers think that it is their roads and can do what ever they want to..even i had an accident coz of one, who just turned without any signal n i rammed onto him...since it was his his fault nobody put the blame on me n i also didnt have any injuries.
Especially if any lady is involved in any accident, all the blame comes on the head of the male drivers involved in it. Nobody tends to hear or see what has happened and simply attack them..this is what i hate the most..

Bad ...... but its good that you didn't argue.

Masses in India are always like this. Even educated people will jump on the bandwagon whenever there is a commotion. They find it a good opportunity to give some "gyaan" to others.

                        Hopeless people.

LOL - yeah stay away from these :

                        1. Yellow boards - especially Indicabs.
                        2. Ladies - on 2wheels or 4wheels - the worst part is you can't argue with them and you can't scold them.
                        3. Old people and Middle Aged people - well you can't blame them, they are driving as quickly as they can - no use honking, just avoid.
                        4. Teenage "rossi's" - rash idiots without helmets doing wheelies et al on main roads. Recipe for disaster.

                          @OT prolly.

All these talks about lady riders brought back a funny memory. I and my friend were driving a sumo (2002 or sometime) and he was taking a reverse with the reverse sound on. And, this hottie from our area was on her newly bought scooty riding just behind us of which we had no clue. But we expected them to clear the way out since we were reversing (at a real slow speed)... it was only when we heard the thump sound we realised that she was right under the rear of the sumo. LoL, so much for lady drivers = safe riders.

Mate, sh!t happens. Just move on and be ULTRA cautious (bold it for extra stress if you may) when riding around or near lady riders or L'ed drivers.

This again shouts out for lane management by traffic board. It would only be better if they could provide a three or 2 1/2 (5) laned roads with that 1/2 a lane exclusive to bikers (0bhp too) and where possible a lane exclusive to HMV. Lane management and discipline should solve almost 80% of problems like jams and accidents.

In this kind of case i was lucky.
I was riding my friends Bullet Machismo with my truck driver as a pillion.
Going through a narrow lane i was not even at 35kmph the road was a little lower than some of the small workshop which had slopes.
A truck was parked at the side, the moment i cross the truck i see two kids sprinting on their bicycle from the workshop towrds the road, me too slammed the brake the bike ran side ways but managed not to fall neither the bike fell. I hit the Bicycle, when the things settle some people come shouting before i understand they are close to me but to my surprise they were shouting at the Kids (someone else's).
