That's right, anants, he wasn't serious.
Though I agree with svjhonda 's view. Speed up and narrowly miss them. http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/251733-post25.html

Since women are the main matter of discussion in this topic, I'd like to quote Dick Masterson :
Women on the road are more dangerous than cancer.
No cancer can hit you broadside at 60 miles per hour in a two thousand pound SUV.

I doubt ANYONE is so stupid. I mean, who would be so stupid to start running over people just because some random guy on a random biking forum said its okay to do so

So just chill, man. India's youth isn't THAT dumb

Last Week , i and my friends were on our way back from kari motors speedway after a practice session.. we had 6 R15s and i was on my Gixxer.. on our way back we were all crusing at a normal 60-70 kmph thru a village when suddenly a man and his pillion come out from a blind street in full speed on a moped and bang a maruti 800 which was ahead of us and have a massive fall... the car guy just slams the throttle and disappears... the first bike from our group was just some 10 ft behind the car so once he sees the guys fall off from the moped the biker slams the break to control and pulls to the right end of the road, has a skid and falls too.

Soon there are villagers who gather and start arguing and blaming us for the accident and then all our bikes were stopped and were dragged into a nearby house and locked.. soon the ambulance arrived and the two moped guys were rushed to the hospital where one who was riding expired and the other was in critical state.

As soon as the villagers came to know of the death they started to misbehave with us and started demanding 2 lac rupees from us.. we called up our family asked them to bring cops with them and soon surrendered ourselves to the cops and explained the whole truth.. after 2 days of investigations and catching hold of the car, our license and bikes were released.. We later found out that the guy who expired was totally drunk and so was the case with the 800 car guy.

After this incident we all have learned a lesson and have engraved it on our hearts & minds.. TO RIDE SLOW & SAFE AND TO RESPECT OTHER RIDERS ON THE ROAD. Show all your riding skills on a race track not on public roads. Even though it was not our fault but still a Guy who has a family and a sole bread earner lost his life, which can never be replaced.

          RIDE SAFE ALWAYS.

                  scary experience!
A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.

Always be ready (get geared) to fall and then think of sitting on the motorcycle.

I would also like to share my experience
Not long ago,i was riding on NH-2 from Kolkata to Durgapur,on my Pulsar 220,along with my friend .We were actually on our way back to Durgapur. We were already running late, and it was getting darker.I was a bit uneasy with the idea of riding while the sun is down, but had to get back to Durgapur anyways. Now the Kolkata-Durgapur Expressway is a 2-lane highway,so traffic is one-way only.Henceforth I never expected anybody to run into me.But thats exactly what happened.I was cruising at a speed of 70-75kmph,the road was clear, nothing to worry 'bout and then all of a sudden a cyclist just came from the opposite direction.Man u can't even imagine how fast these things happen until and unless u've been in a spot like this before!!He was on the road-side a second ago.And all of a sudden he thinks pehaps riding on the oneway road on the highway from opposite direction will be much better idea than being on the footpath, and lands infront of me.I didnt have much time after that ,it was so close that even slamming the brakes hard would not have saved me.I tried to dodge him .I tried going right closer to the divider. But that idiot panicked and he also kept coming to his own left (my right). At this point I slammed both the brakes as hard as possible. It slowed the bike a bit but i hit the cycle anyways as there was no more space in the right'coz the divider was there.Perhaps the wheels locked at this moment ,I don't remember exactly. The bike fell over the divider and we fell on the street.Lost conciousness, both of us,later taken to the hospital by the locals. The helmet turned out to be a real life-saver.

Both of us survived the accident.I had a fractured jaw, which took an operation to fix. Both of us were bruised up pretty badly. My friend had symptoms of temporary amnesia, though he recovered from it and doing quite well these days.He is still quite scared of bikes though. But that idiot cyclist was nowhere to be found.Ppl found his cycle, but he judging by the fact he was not there, I guess he escaped the accident rather unharmed.

I dunno what goes on the mind of these ppl that makes them think riding a cycle on the highway from opposite direction would be a pretty cool thing to do.By the way I always had a feeling that he was drunk at that moment.

It was a scary experience altogether.....

I do feel there is a lack of sense of responsibility and awareness among a large mass of population, which should be addressed properly.

And to add to this there are ppl out there who try to gain even from situations like this!!!
My backpack was stolen, had some important papers in it.My wrist watch, mobile phones, credit card, around 8000 rupees in hard cash, all stolen. Some bastards even tried to claim the bike which was kept by a restaurent owner nearby ,but failed. But,those ppl who stole the credit card managed to buy 2 mobile phones using it the very next morning before my father was able to lock it.The thieves went untraced and the police seemed too reluctant to find them.

chill guys... This is India and that's why all of them are alive. If such a thing happens elsewhere there would've been more loss of life for sure.

                        .
It was a very bad thing to happen to you and many others... but we as literate citizens should understand the fact that there is a large population who lack even the basic road / traffic sense. We have to be more careful and responsible while on wheels and try to safeguard our life as well as others.

Using safety gears would surely be a lot helpful. These things happen when they have to happen but at least we can try and avoid such accidents by being a bot more alert on the roads. Luck is not going to be with us for ever... sometimes we would run out of it and in such cases imagine the loss

RIDE SLOW / SAFE / RESPONSIBLY ALWAYS.

this is outrageously ridiculous.....i personally feel that we should unite and do something about it. After all Xbhp is not just about sitting on our computers and blabbering online. AT least i am not willing to pay for anyone else's stupidity. If someone is drunk and meets with an accident then its their fault and fate. Nyways, just my opinion.
