Honestly, we will never have orderly traffic. Unless you have patience on par with a yogi, riding/driving is impossible. We feel so obliged to be politically correct, oh gender has no effect and all that equality, empowerment talk.
This is a country were 6-8-xxx lane roads are bulit and bullock carts are allowed to ply.
This is a country were bicycles are allowed to move on the wrongside on the flyover.
This is a country were autos, buses and just about every other street urchin enjoys the status of VIP among the police.
Empowerment, equality, inclusive society, etc etc. It should be reflected on our roads also right? So, if you have a R1 shut up and tail gate a BMTC bus or better still a bicycle on Hebbal flyover
Coz the bicyclist is also a human and has as much right to use the road

This happened recently i was coming from chennai about 10 Kms from sriperambattur was cruising @60Km/hr.Suddenly this old man jumps in the middle of the road and started dancing. He was Drunk and it was getting dark it took me a couple of second's to realize what was happening and i slammed both my brakes as hard as i could. The rear wheel lifted off the ground(My first stoppie) and i rammed into the old man.The next thing i felt my crotch was Hurting badly and i could not stand up.Auto drivers who saw all this helped me and the old man.Luckily the old man survived with no bodily harm and to my surprise the hard gearshift problem i had vanished

When in doubt, better stop!
As all of us has learned, either through our own experience or others, riding is not always the most joyious of experiences. Its always better to be safe and late and depressed than to be in a hospital feeling sorry for yourself.
My version of defensive riding is "When in doubt, better stop!". Well, atleast slow down to the point where you are sure you can stop right where you want to.
On my way to office, I have to take city roads and highway. While inside city I have to be careful of other bikers, cycles, children, old ppl... what not. But then, once on the highway, its always the cars and buses that are speeding, on the wrong side of the road. They dont even care if you have enough space to give way to them...but they just come thundering down on you. Many a times have I sped out of the road, into gutters, embankments, once even a tree - all to save my life. And then, ppl who see you, blame us. The time when I went into the tree - it was at a curve, I was riding within the speed limit, and lo - this fast passenger bus comes speeding by, overtaking a slow moving truck. That guy did not even sound his horn or slow down, or do anything what-so-ever. I twisted the throttle, swerved out of the road and managed to just miss the bus, and almost climbed the tree. You know what the people who gathered there said.... that I was speeding, lost control, and rammed into the tree...People!!!

Lijo

Wear a helmet
Hi all, Yesterday me and my friend where riding through our city on his Shine, We both were wearing lids.I was the pillion. After sometime a guy in a CT100 with loud local exhaust n green handle grips(he too was wearing a thrashed roadside helmet) overtook us frm the left side at high speed, reminds me of our "Poser diaries" thread. From that moment I was thinking of him, what is he doing??
After sometime I saw that this guy again overtook another motorcyclist and hardly missed a bus. Holy sh*t. Again I was thinkin of him. Later I saw him at the next intersection, with his bike parked on the roadside. Dont know for what. We moved ahead, at the next junction a bus which was going in front of us stopped for picking up passengers, and we stopped behind the bus. After few seconds, i heard a loud exhaust fart from behind. I knew it was him...
At the very next moment, something has hit behind our bike with full force, Our bike is being pushed under the rear end of the bus, Fortunately we didnt fall. Only our bike was fallen. but I realized that there's something had hit behind my head badly. I can feel the force of the impact. But it was ok coz of my lid. When I turned back I found the guy in CT 100 lying under his bike on the road, with his bike almost totaled. The bike's front end has damaged very badly, nothing left everything gone. But he is ok.. He was drunk. He couldnt even hold his bike. He was out of his mind. Stupid..
Later I found our bike lying under the bus's rear end. I thought everything is gone. People lifted our bike. After checking the whole bike we found that there's nothing happened to our bike. There's no problem for any part of the bike except a small scratch in the crash guard.
And we wonder, where the heck the CT100 hit on the Shine.. There's nothing broken. Still we cant believe this, coz after the crash, the bike is being pushed 2 meters in to the bus and it landed under the bus's rear end. How can it happen?? we still cant figure out that the CT100 hit which part of the Shine.
And its a miracle that I am alive. Coz ,there's something had hit badly behind my head. WHAT IF I HAD NO LID?? I still can feel the impact,
later I had severe headache. now its ok.
Hopefully there was no problem for us or our bike. The problem was for him, he was drunk, he was speeding, now he totaled his bike. Some started abusing us by saying, we are the reason for his crash coz we braked hard infront of him and he crashed. WTF
?
Damn!! what is happening with these people? I think they said this because both of us were wearing lids with some decals, shoes, our bike had decals like, K&n, HRC, 46, THE DOCTOR, Ohlins etc. Everybody staring at us like we did something wrong, I dont know why, Actually we didnt even crossed 55 mark on the speedo. But we're blamed for this. But after a while few people who were behind us stopped and supported us, We left the scene coz we had no injuries or damage.
But when will this change???Use your brain to save your brain. WEAR A HELMET!

Damn!! what is happening with these people?
But when will this change???[/QUOTE]
Yesterday 2 more bikers lost their lifes in Bangalore. I am a rider as well as a driver. I have noticed some peculiar habits of Bangalore Bikers. I am talking about the 90% of the bikers not the 10% who follows the rules and ride carefully.I mean no offence to any one.
1) When you are driving a car and you leave about 20" gap on your side, most of the bikers try to squeeze through the gap whether the vehicle is moving or still at a signal. In that process scratch the side of the car or knock off your side view mirrors. (I have lost Side view mirrors a few times.)
2) If you leave the same gap in front of your car then these guys will squeeze through your left side or the right side ( whichever is applicable )and then squeeze through you front to the other side. Ok when one guy does it then others follows him. Possible damage to your front bumper + damage to the Rear bumper of the car in front of you.
In both the above cases leave enough space on the sides and front or none at all.
3) I have seen riders screaming away carrying a helmet, not on their heads but on the handle bar.
4) At the traffic signals, if there is no space on the left side of the road, they casually climb the foot path and ride away.
( But the exceptions are RE Bullets and the choppers. I have never seen any of these riders following the above 4 practices. )
And the funny thing is that you will meet most of these guys at the next Traffic Signal.
5) They don't wait for the light to turn green, when the count down timer reaches 8 0r 7 Secs. they will start moving forward / start honking from behind you.( This is so with some 4-wheeler drivers also).
6) You wait for the Light to change to green at a traffic signal, well behind the Zebra Crossing. These guys within no time will squeeze/crawl through the other vehicles and occupy the entire Zebra Crossing as if the Zebra Crossings are ment for 2-Wheelers only.
7) You will see some them riding on a one way street in the opposite direction with the headlight on in broad day light ( and some time in the night even without lights) because the are too impatient and lazy to go a couple of 100 feets further and cross over to the other side.
Does these factors also contribute to the 2-wheeler accidents in Bangalore?
Some of you may agree with me but some may not.
These are my observations on the 2-wheeler riders.
What happens to all the traffic rules and regulations one learns while getting a licence.?
About Transport Busses? Will write later.

I've also had similar kind of experience. I was riding my bike at around 40-50 kmph on a two lane road in the right lane (left lane supposedly used for slow, wrong side drivers and more over its kind of one and a half lane). A cab takes a sudden dive into the right lane without giving any indication neither by indicator nor by hand signal. Still that was ok. And once he enters the right lane hi slams the brakes all of a sudden. Just due to that i also had to put the brakes and my bike lost control as the distance between the cab and bike was very less as the cab jumped in all of a sudden. I broke my left elbow's tip and had to under go surgery for that.Originally posted by varun_r15 View PostIt is india 85% people in my city rides like an insane rider without proper riding gear..
i remember few days before i was riding at 35 -40km/hr..
one milkman was coming, he was looking back and was riding with to heavy milk filled utencils hung around his bike, he was'nt knoing anything how he was riding as he was looking back and suddenly he came to wrong side i.e. to my lane and he must be riding at 45-50 km/hr with no lid
..
i was continuously blowing horn but he dint even noticed, i too was confused what shoud i do also that time it was not very possible to completely stop the bike, by the time his one milk ki tanki hit my R15's indicator and i slipped..
Nothing happed to me, thanks to helmet but my clutch lever broked and got some scratches on fairings..
now the main point comes, that milkman was shouting on me that i dont know how to ride WTF
, that time i was so frustated that i gave one on his cheek, by the time my friends were crossing from there, they came and scolded that milkman.I would have noted his bike's no. but there was'nt any no. plate.
within mins he rushed....
MORAL- please be careful, nowdays anyone can collide with you even you are riding at correct lane with nominal speed
Just due to the non-sensical driving without any road sense i lost my bike and the cab driver went away unscathed.
Had he given any indication i would have slowed down and distanced my self more to accommodate him in the same lane. He just switched-slammed brakes-rushed off immediately.
There are many incidents of these kind happening every day but just don't know when people will develop a road sense that is actually required to take care of yourself and others who are riding/driving around you.My thoughts...
