          • Number plates

The government vehicles Most of them) in bangalore follow the dual number plate policy. (still you may find a few illegal ones)

Most of the Private Vehicles that use the regional language number plate do so illegally. Also some organisations conduct "Melas" & paint the number plates in regional language free of cost without thinking of the legal implications.

            • Today, on my way to office, I saw something really disturbing. On the Madhyakailash signal in Adayar, Chennai, Traffic cops were trying to catch helmet less and over speeding riders. Two students on a Discover 135, rider helmet less, tried to jump the signal. The cop standing on the road snatched the keys off the running bike. In the process the bike became unbalanced and fell. The last I saw the cops were playing catch with the key of the bike while the rider and the pillion were being helped up by the public.

It was really sad to see. We can crib all we want till our fingers are tired. However, the fact remains that we live in a country which corrupt up to the clouds. Every policy implemented is treated as a get rich quick scheme. People in India do not know the value of a helmet as they think it is a luxury for the people riding big bikes. Government (who are stupid enough to enlist super bikes as luxury items), instead of creating road awareness, just keeps making laws, which are seasonally implemented when the worthless police force runs out of pocket money. Hell, I have been harassed by the cops in Chennai just because I am a north Indian (This is a statement, not a cry for war).

People regardless of age and proper road sense drive on the roads, kids who do not understand the responsibility, young and middle-aged people who think two wheelers are easy to control and old people who cant even bear the weight of a two wheeler. Long story short, in this country, from the government to people, for everybody road safety is an alien concept, road rules are jokes and cops are people who are their to collect bribes.

              It can not be helped.

Anyone who's dumb enough to try such a thing needs to be punished. Traffic lights and helmets are no jokes.

Now, I don't want to defend these cops for such utter disregard for peoples safety.

But try to imagine being in the cops place. Day in, day out, you have to deal with people who try to run you down with their car or bike. They never stop when you tell them. If you do manage to stop them they will argue and likely threaten you with dire consequences. Some may even call their "government uncle".

Such is this place, on one side you have the cops with no regard for anything, probably more preoccupied with how to fill their pockets. However, on the other side you've got the general public who have no regard for anything at all. Not cops, not you and most certainly not their own life.

So there's no defending these guys for what they did, but as far as I can see it's just a result of the way things work here. There's no one side to blame, both sides are wrong. And I think it will be a while before people will realize that.

                • I adjusted myself for these conditions

Well guys thats a good topic. If there is a poll about the traffic rules and etiquettes on the road among some cities, i will choose Gurgaon, the worst city. I commute to Gurgaon frequently especially the railway road. There are no manners in the people, they dont know that how to drive on the road.

Whenever you travel to this area, you will find that a biker or car sudden come from at the T point without any Horn and this happen at every Tpoint or crossing. Once i had a really very close encounter with a car sudden comes in my way from another road. I braked heavily, almost stand up on the brake and end up with the 4 inch stops away from the car. Really what a furious moment it was.

Now i am get used to all of this stuff.

                  • If we try to argue with cops on a confident note, then they dont do any thing, this is what I have observed in my encounters with them.

Once, Me and my friend were going to get some cards, We both were wearing helmets, Have all the papers, Stopped before the stop line at traffic signal. the Traffic inspector sitting under the tree orders constable to get us to him. He says that you number plate is not in correct dimensions. (Only the rear number plate, the 4 numbers are always on bigger font on all my bikes) He says that the number is not in correct dimensions and I have to pay fine.

So, I asked him what are the correct dimensions? He was not able to answer. Then I said, THE NUMBER MUST BE READABLE and MUST BE IN CORRECT FONT. Nor my number is in wrong font and nor in smaller size than regular dimensions. Inspector takes out a paper which has prints of numbers and and font names and said ...see this is the format. I said, YOU DONT KNOW THE RULES OF NUMBERS ON NUMBER PLATE. HE silently let me go.

Second instance was, My R15 was on T/R and had travelled more than 100kms at that time. Traffic constable stops me and says that your bike has run more than 1000kms on T/R number and you have to pay fine. I said, we can run a bike on T/R for a month. As the T/R number is valid only for a month. I can ride even 1lac kms in that one month. he lets me go.

So, Just have a good idea about these rules and you can always avoid these guyz.

once a guy in cycle crossed a red signal i was honking like hell and think he would see me and and stop but he dint before i realised that it was too late.. i braked but hit him anyway.. he was wearing earphones !!! and people where like your the one on bike you should come slowly take out your license call the police.. i got so f#$k pissed i dint move off from the road, the police came they again shouted at me cause i was just 18 and my license was new !! the cyclist was bleeding everywhere and i guess broke a bone i dint give a shit told him you deserved it and thank god i dint carry money they just put there hands in my pocket and took out everything nothing valuable was there except a pen which some stole lol i showed the police the earphones and the radio running and rode off..!!

every other time it wont work, being rash/confident/arguing with the cops would get in a deep $hit, now,if u have some big FISH behind you its completely different, one phone call and he'll let you go
but being silent before cops means you are agreeing to what he says,we should argue, but not in that manner every time..these things works well with the constables and not with the big ones.

Indian thinking is age=experience=responsibility. Nobody realizes that while driving age doesn't bring responsibility. skills and practice do. Unfortunately this mentality is the further supported by countless kids who ride their dad's bike, then crash and kill people. Kids who don't know left from right and dont know the difference between breaking and turning.

In this country biking is considered juvenile and a sign of immaturity. That is not about to change overnight. Best we can do is be the ebst biker we can be.

+1 many indians consider few BIKES and their rider to be real Bad A**

In bangalore there are lot of incidents of chain snatching and the bike those bast**ds use happens to be either RX. shogun type 2 strokers and/or the new range of indian superbikes (read pulsar,r15, apache)

now tell how a rider can become bad coz of the bike he is riding or vice versa.

and no one listens to YOU when anything untowards happens... it is like BIKERS are the only breed to be blamed for any bad thing that happens on INDIAN roads

hmm, cant complain much, coz my dad tells the very same thing when he sees a fully dressed up rider do 80+ on the highway..

dad, hope u read this, highways are the ONLY place in india where a bike can do 80+ other roads are like 30+ u cant ride fast on most of the indian roads...

let this breed live happy and safe... else we all will go extinct
