I would also like to share my experience
I was going to the nearby market on my scooty and i was at speed of 40-45 kmph, while driving i saw an elderly guy crossing the road,so i honked so that he knows a vehicle is coming and he might get away from the way but to my horror he just froze there in the middle of the road staring right at me.he didnt even try to move a muscle. Finally i had to jam my brakes to avoid an accident and when i stopped people nearby started saying that "see that guy trying to show off by skidding in the middle of the road" or "look he almost killed the elderly".
i want to ask how in the hell was I wrong .

What happened to me was I was coming on this road at like 45-50 enjoying my music.. n saw this elderly guy attempting to cross the road a few meters ahead.. he had just turned to cross the road n not started actually crossing... as soon as he heard my bike dunno wat came into him ... he started jogging to cross quickly n i slammed on my brakes and swerved but touched him on the side ... couldnt stop quickly enough.. n he fell down... but before he could start shouting... i started yelling at him ... 'uncle kar kya rahe ho .. road cross bacche bhaag ke karte hain ... n blah blah ..
anyway ... a pcr as it turns out had been behind me ...(hadnt noticed it earlier) ... he stopped alongside and asked me to go on ... n leave it at that ..

So my funda ... unke kuch bolne se pehle hi unhe daant laga do ...
Never be a part of the crowd !!!

While most of you are ranting about female drivers on the road and the sympathy they undeservingly get, lemme add a twist -

Firstly, why bother about what passers-by on the road say? How does it matter one bit?

What really matters is yourself, the other party and the law.

I know a lady who used to ride a scoot. She drove... well... ladylike. I know this as I'v myself seen her drive. She frequently had accidents. Once, she had an accident with some man on a bike. It turned out that the guy was a tough nut. Looking at her driving, I'm pretty sure must have been her fault.... but yes, she did come out of it with a broken arm, collar bone, etc., and damage to the scoot. The guy apparently was not significantly hurt. Now the best part was that this guy did not make any issue on the road itself. But everyday after the accident, he would come to the lady's house with few other guys who looked kinda like goons, and demanded monetary compensation for the accident. The lady initially resisted, but on repeated and increasing pressure from the goons, the family finally relented and had to pay for the guy's damages. Not absolutely sure, but the lady almost gave up riding since.

So I would really suggest you guys not to bother too much about the morons on the road. If you are in the right, just be smart and take down all kinds of details about the offender. You should really be demanding compensation where the incident itself took place (if the time/situation is right) or you can persue it later. You can also lodge a complaint. In the very least, if you are claiming insurance, ask the offender to cough up the no-claim bonus.

If you really want to make an impression with the crowd, start accusing the person who was at fault very forcefully and logically before anybody else starts opining... It can work, depending on the situation.

Thats good or follow the mumbai's principle

            "
In case of an accident whoever starts yelling or starts fighting first is always the right person"
Reminds me of an incident that happened to me a few years ago.Was waiting in a junction signal in my car with my father.A man comes to me(i was at the wheel) taps my window. He says my cars rear tyre went through his friend's foot.I said WTF .He points out to a person who was sitting down and rubbing his knee. Now why was a person rubbing his knee if my rear tyre went over his foot?.By that time a small crowd started to get collected. He started demanding money for medical aid.I said i wont pay but i will take him to a hospital and later pay some money afterwards. .i made them sit in my car and straight away drove to the police station. The A.S.I was my friends father.Rest........no mentioning required, all i could hear was some one yelping for help.later came to know they used to con people like this

err???? ''get out slick smooth'' ,,man, if this is something happened to u then u are a lucky chap,,i mean at one point u can convince the lady but wot about the oncoming people, will u serve ur explanation to each one of them untill the police arrive,,damn, this can happen to u at ur place but here in mumbai people look out for such stuffs to occur so as to vent out thier own frustrations,,so the simple logic is raise your own voice before anyone else could, whether it be a woman or anyone,, just for the sake to come out unscathed from the wrath of people ,,,, (u konw why i say so ,because a man on his machine is alwayz held responsible for such nuisances)
Never heard a music more soulful than that of a superbike machine

I am sorry but now after such incidents repeatedly occurring i have taken a liking to running people over when they are at fault and dont get out of the way . its not my responsibility to save their sorry ass if they plan to jump in front of me unexpectedly .

                            rear -ending

i think, if some one hits a vehicle from behind then it is his/her fault.
(i am not condoning people who make abrupt stops/cut lanes, but just that
it is the responsibility of the person who is behind to maintain safe breaking distance.)

@ashes : can empathise with you. it is really frustrating when such incidents occur.

                              WOW buddy
                              you're awesome i assume.
There are people with disabilities, people with problems, someone's son might have died in the morning and so on and maybe they did not pay attention and unfortunately you beared he grunt of the situation.
And if you have been "running people over" i really dunno what to say !

AND if xbhpians talk like this then im sure very soon motorcycling will lose whatever respect it has gained over a couple of years.

dude i dont think he was serious.. it was meant in a lighter vein. I do agree with you, but i also identify with the "run them over" sentiment. Sometimes, its good to vent
