Well, Pulsar 180 UG3 like many others ... ok?

I use it for commuting. Its' a great bike for city:-->

      1. It doesn't have that big wheelbase and heavy handlebar from 200's or 220's,
      2. Gear changing is not much required,
      3. seems lean-able enough within cities, with some knee scraping on flyovers. (The Dhola-bhata Flyover to be precise.)
      4. still has the damn performance to teach a newbie Karizma rider a lesson or two ... (Poser actually)

Lately it has been returning 35-40 as I push her a lot, up the tachometer. I have achieved 52 kmpl maximum.

Overall, for City, I can give it 9/10. It's powerful, but it never lost sense of practicality.

Features I'll appreciate are Rear Set Footpegs, but all commuters don't like it, so its okay.

@all Xbhpians over confusion of Premium bikes, lets 1st get it that we live in India and ask any of the major fours like HeroHonda,Bajaj,TVS,Yamaha India................they would show u the range I have mentioned.

I know that a Hayabusa is called Hyperbike and a Fireblade a Superbike.............so I wont have referred them as Premium sitting here in India.

Also, thanx to all for the suggestions and discussions..............it strengthens my decision for an RTR180.My decision was being divided between GS150R,RTR180 and FZ16.
So far I find that RTR is better in commuting and FE than others.Maybe more views would solidify the decision or alter it..................so some more suggestion please

So my R15 is premium bike .
Ok, I travel 10-15 Km on weekdays and weeknd it goes triple or more...May nt b a huge distance but in heart of blore city during office hr, its pathetic sometime. I am getting 40-42 per litre. As long as my machine is doing well I am not worried for it.
Its the only R15 in the whole office building. So it grabs loads of attention
          I do blog.

Well i used to commute on RTR160 before and now on the new P220

              I commute on these because
              1. I don't have any other bike
              2. Mileage is somehow OK for me
              3. I cant have any other bigger CC bike to commute (Excepts Enfields, which i dont like and other super bikes available in India)

Yes you are right. It was 32500 bucks. That's why I don't like the premium bikes.

I ride apache 150 for daily commuting of 20 to 30 kms.

                      City - 50 kmpl
                      Highway - 55 to 60 kmpl
                      B o D a C i O u S

                      Wander logue

Grand Southern Raid | Munnar | Yercaud | Ootacamund

The increase in performance is directly proportional to the size of the hole in your pocket :D

Funny to find so many bikes in the 'premium' list!
Anyways, I use my R15 for commuting to office to&fro about 25-30kms.everyday&of course for touring atleast 500kms.extra every month, which makes it a total of about 1500kms.a month. Mileage around 43 in city, have seen upto 48kmpl. on highways.
Initially I thought the riding posture would not support cutting through traffic, but when I realized I was riding quicker&doing things I could never do in the city itself, I realized what a wonder its handling is! Maintenance definitely more compared to other 150cc bikes, but so is the pleasure of riding it. Approx.yearly replacements of air filter, oil filter&spark plug are compulsory. Chain set, clutch plates maybe after a couple of years of purchase or more, depending on usage. Engine life should surely be much longer than any other bike made in India, considering the technology that has gone into it. So, even if I spent more in maintaining it, I would still be smiling long after other bikes engines have given up!
I still have my old bike Fiero F2 150cc which I use to take my Mom for shopping near my place, that does about 300kms. a month.
                        Quench my thirst with gasoline!

See, one can't say that RTR is better than others, in Commuting and FE. For Commuting, FZ16 would be ideal, not for mileage though. You can confirm RTR 180's mileage from their ownership thread.

Moreover, you should remember P180 UG4, with its previous niggles solved to a good extent.
Pulsar always had a reputation of good performance, Mileage, & Stock Tyres. Moreover, Bike India was very favourable about the new pulsar ...

If the confusion is between RTR 180 & FZ16 only, ask yourself what you want more - Straightline Favourable engine OR Ride Quality and Easyness. You'll get your answer...

For all-round performance, mileage and experience, I suggest P180 UG4 with no Mods OR RTR 180 with Tyres changed to Grippy ones ... Rest is your decision. I have test ridden all these bikes you mentioned.

I commute to office on my P180 ug3, To and fro comes around 62-63 kms and Monthly expense comes around 2000 for petrol (includes weekend rides to some nearby places). The bike has been extremely reliable and has not seen anything other than oil changes and filling petrol, The only expense incurred was when i lost a saree guard bolt and had to replace it - 15bucks and changed the rear brake shoes (180 change rupees) & replaced right mirror as it had scratches.

Gives me constant mileage of 44-46 kpl under mixed conditions, If ridden hard - Read redline shiftings and bursts of 115+kmph then it returns me 36kmpl
The max i've got under sedate riding is 54.6kmpl

All in all, A superb bike and super experience so far, 20k kms done and still hasnt lost its fire in the belly, even yesterday i touched 128 without the bike doing any drama..
                            Fun Starts at Redline!!!
