Going by pricing, CBR150R and R15 too deserves a place in here.Going by cubic capacity, Pulsar 220F,Pulsar 200NS,Avenger 220 and Enfields can find a place too.Originally posted by princesirohi View Post^^ i think now we should exclude all these bikes from premium category.

All the above listed bikes do cost a premium to the average Indian biker and is a bit low on fuel efficiency for whatever cause- power or weight.
Going by your description, I used to commute on a premium bike before and I do it still now.
Upgraded from my GS150R to the Duke 200 for commuting purpose

What Nonsense!!! My Zma-R has got a "Premium" sticker on it. Hence a certified premium bikeOriginally posted by princesirohi View Post^^ i think now we should exclude all these bikes from premium category.

Ok. Jokes apart. Given today's motorcycle scenario, with big boys from Ducati, Honda, Harley, BMW, Yamaha, etc. I would redefine the tag "premium" for machines above 650cc only.
Yeah! mostly out of reach of most. Precisely the reason why they should be called premium. Anything less should come under small budget performance motorcycles or commuters and such. I sat side-by-side with other big bikes on my Zma in the traffic, and boy-oh-boy, the premium sticker certainly isn't convincing

well, i wanna differ here slightly, the criteria for premium according to me is price and exclusivity and the fact that price is "how much out of reach of general public"Originally posted by kaynmantis View PostWhat Nonsense!!! so i think if you go a little above R15 price, most ppl find it unaffordable and puts it in premium segment.
consider this if you say 650 cc and above, what about baby ninja, believe me it is way out of budget of most of the ppl. isn't it premium..??

I agree to Prince. Premium cannot be judged by cc. Premiumness in my opinion is a mix of quality and price. Higher quality than majority clubbed with a higher price is what is called true premium bike in my opinion. Its not always about speed.

WHAT THE?! A duke ur comparing with all these beasts? And if you have put a duke there then where in hell are pulsars and karizmas?! Money is not the only criteria! Look at the cc and performance too. Not just one factor. Royal enfield is not premium eh?Originally posted by princesirohi View Post^^ i think now we should exclude all these bikes from premium category.

Granted, there is valid points to your argument. However, the term 'premium' is often cheapen by manufacturers. If today, my Zma is still one of the top motorcycle in the country, I might humorously acknowledge the premium tag. However, this is no longer the case with so many 'actual' big premium bikes around that could make my ride or other 250s seem nothing much more than a toy.Originally posted by princesirohi View Postwell, i wanna differ here slightly, the criteria for premium according to me is price and exclusivity and the fact that price is "how much out of reach of general public"

Affordability should not be factored alone where a majority of the population are poor. What other motorcycles are available should also be factored in the equation. Besides, Like I said earlier. Sitting next to a Busa, Harley etc, the ground 'seems' to shake when they rev. That's oozing premium from all exhaust, leaving the small bikes putter with indignant. Even a total noob sees the difference.
After all i said. My ride did not qualify to make your list of premium bikes. But, at the end of the, I still swing my leg over my 'premium' ride (as per HH), and head home after work every evening. Life it seems is not without a sense of humor.
