Karizma ZMR ride report and first impressions

    i want to ask 1 quiestion that in uk u can get a ninja250 in 3500-4000 usd but in india it is 3 lack (nearly 7000-7500 usd) ...why is the difference is this big in india and uk ???? this sad thing for most people becase most indian people waited for ninja and expected the price under 2 lack..

    so zmr and r15 is the best indian bikes today
    ZMR in no way is the best indian bike.do you know about the 110% customs on the importing of a vehicle from abroad to India? Also if u say that ninja is not worth the price tag,and R15 is worth the 1 LAKH+ tag then compare both the bikes,the NINJA has almost double the power of the ZMR & R15.Also for your kind information ZMR has no LIQUID COOLING which is utmost important for a full faired bike,HERO HONDA has just made some cosmetics changes to this machine,and i really dont understand how is the ZMR "ABOVE THE SAID & DONE",cause all the SO-CALLED technology it uses have been used in the past by GLAMOUR-PGM-FI,220 FI &DTS-I,R15! So have a clear picture about ZMR.
    when the strech is empty, my bike tells me to wring its throttle and give my commands!

        i own the pulsar 220 dts-i,and trust me even then i dont say its THE BEST,if you actually see, the crown has to go to the all new BULLET CLASSIC 500 FI.careful people i was asked the best BIKE without any particular category,so dont pounce on me saying its 500 cc,its different and stuff!

          I can see that there are 2 p220 DTSi and 1 p 220 DtsFi which were also dragged along with you . As you written you were on their tale till 95 ok fine.
          What happened after 95? did Zmr overtook P 220s ? by the way P220 has more top speed than ZMR right? so if the P220s were not restricted by the Road or Lack of driving skills it is very unlikely to happen . Can you just elucidate a little bit more on that ?

          By the way dont forget to write a trip log . We are eagerly waiting for that .

          In our drag, Vs the ZMA, i could not keep with the ZMA till 50-60 kph and with the 220 till 95-100 kph..!!
          After that vs the 220, ZMR overtook the 220 n raced till its top speed ( which for me was around 126 kph on the speedo..).. It took around 7 secs for the 220 to match the top end n catchup n later overtake..!!

          One correction.. The true top speed of 220 is 132.5 kph... and that of ZMR is 126 kph... Source - Bike india
          And in our tests too, when i was at 120, the 220 showed 138 kph..!!

          About driving skills I dont know..!! But those two 220 riders used to ride local dirt races n all and have been bikers for around 5 years now...

          And during the ride, every bike was interchanged except mine, which i gave for no one since it was new..!!
          Also some were scared, if at all by some chance the bike crashes, the cost for repair would be huge..!! So i dint have to refuse... hehe

          Plus about the driving skills.. Would it really be that..??
          Because if those 220s could stay ahead of me till 100 kph, which is when all the shifting till top gear is done, whats left is just to keep the throttle to its max till it tops out right..??? So i dont think its that..!! There is one more 220 dtsi left in our gang... Will try out a drag with that and will post the results soon.. Me too expecting 220 to finish ahead of me anyway..
          But actually i expected them to smoke me by some distance..!! Now that i am certain that, it would never happen..!! Maybe they will beat me, but not by quite a lot of distance..!!

          I did not mention one of the biggest things which amazed me.. The design of the windsheild that is.. At around 100 kph when the speedo started getting sluggish, i tucked in ma head fully behind the visor, and the way it started surging ahead was amazing..!! Beyond a certain level of crouching, the windshield directs all the air perfectly above your helmet..!! That really helps..!!

            • Hero Honda has increased the prices of Karizma ZMR by 1,699 here in Bangalore. Not sure if this is done across India.

                      First of all a stock Karizma-R cannot do 150 km/hour on a normal road(other wise it should have a steep slope) .r .Stock Karizma-R can do maximum 140 km /hour if all conditions are favorable (like engine in top notch conditon , airflter , sprak plug , Tyres ,Sprokets and chain and all in top notch condition , Unadultered petrol , Engine not over heat ,No Cross wind ).Other wise the top speed may be limited to 130-135 km /hour or sometimes even 120 km/hour. But if you modify the Kariza-R with cutom made sprockets , Larger jet and airfilters we can make it touch slighlty more than the stock top speed but at the cost of engine life .

                      Second point all bikes (excpet ZMR) have a huge speedo error. So if an old karizma is doing 140 km /hour in its speedo ,the ture speed of the bike will be around 125-126 km /hour.

                      The new ZMR can do true 126 km /hour (translated to 140-145 on Karizma-R or Pulsar 220 Dtsi speedo). Few of the ZMR users were able to hit 126 km/hour.

                          hey man thanks for the explanation as i used to hear a lot about the zma series doing 150/160 km speeds from some of the hero honda mechanics and i was like is it true or false.

                              Yup i meesd the airpressure thing. It is also a critical factor. If the airpressure is low the bike wont hit proper top speeds. Another thing i missed is the climat. The top speed of all bikes (except Closed Fi bikes , eg:ZMR) depends on the weather of that day. For Closed Fi bike they will automatically adjust with the changing atmospheric conditions with the help of varios sensors (like O2 senors and all ).

                              • I've been waiting for more than 2 months for my bike, but whenever I ask the showroom people about the booking status, they have the same old reply: "We still didn't get the lot, nor it has been dispatched from Delhi Sir, We'll inform you as soon as we get some news".

                                If I try to question anything to them then lo, one more reply goes : "Sir, Even the people who have booked in October are still waiting".

                                So today I lost my cool on the phone with the guy and threatened to go to consumer court on this matter (as they assured me 1 month approx time while booking).

                                "What should we do sir, if the company is not sending the bikes."

                                To which I replied, "you people represent such a respected company but you cannot provide your customers with any details or any time frame as such? I'd like to speak to any of the company officials and I'll be at the showroom tomorow."

                                So, just waiting for tomorrow to eat their brains out.

                                Anybody from Hyderabad with similar situation?
                                From variable Bhps to a constant 17.6 Bhp.
