is that really good advice for break in ???Originally posted by Galaxtus View PostThere is Not much like riding tips or something. If the bike is fairly new dont over run the RPM's above 4500. Do not or repeatedly rise the throtle, try to crusie in on a normal speed (ex: if travelling at a speed 60km/h maintain that or gradually increase do not lower down & again rise it). FZ maintains well in any speeds. I usually travel in high 80km/h to 100km/h. I am getting 40 city & 46 High way.
my understanding would be:
1. take the rpms every now and then above 4500 or so.
2. constantly vary the throttle and move through all the gears.
3. Never cruise at a constant speed / rpm on a new engine.
am i missing something here ??There once was a woman who was quite begat.
She had three babies named Nat, Pat, and Tat.
She said it was fun in the breeding,
But found it was hell in the feeding
When she saw there was no tit for Tat.

Jst follow the Run-in guide on the manual
i.e
for the first 500km
-keep the RPM Below 4500.
-Never ride long at a constant speed
-leave the clutch smoothly
for the next 500km the only diff. is you should keep the RPM below 6000
and never use Semi or Fully synthetic Oil while running-in period.Smoke rubber, not tobacco.

Hi All,
I am a new joinee to the xbhp family, but I have had an F16 for over a year. I am very happy with the performance, but right from day one, I have been hunting avenues of getting a disc on the rear. Recently saw a rear disc on the ninja250, and got the costing as it has the same shoes in the rear, but did not seem cost-effective.
Any advice from you guys will be appreciatted.
Regards,
Anup

Do you really think a rear disk is necessary on the FZ the rear drum or rather the overall braking is great on the FZ. Don't you think a rear disk would just be a very costly novelty?Originally posted by mc_anup View PostHi All,

Well, am not very pleased with the current braking power that I have in the rear, and so wanted to go in for discs.
Just did a thorough check-up of my FZ as it has done about 13,000 Kms. Found a lot of wear and tear in the chain, leakage in the oil seal near the clutch. Gotta get those fixed.
I was thinking of putting in a Karisma chain assembly, which has a bigger sprocket, open to advise.

i have raced with a P150 many times and from personal experience can tell you that P150's acc and top speed in not even near FZ's.... infact with you can easily keep up with the P180 only trick is that you will have to draft a little.... acceleration is almost the same for both of them although P180 scores in top speed thanks to its 180 c.c's....Originally posted by jd666 View Postthats what i remember reading in the FZ vs other 150cc shootout.. ill try gathering my facts again.. and post back..Timon: Orange Yamaha FZ16 2009

No you aren't. You are probably right. Variation in throttle is a must. Continuously riding a new bike at a constant rpm will have a danger of the piston being jammed I guess.Originally posted by hell_glider View Postis that really good advice for break in ???

am i missing something here ??From variable Bhps to a constant 17.6 Bhp.

Offtopic ~ but still wanted to share it here!!!!
Went to Pacer Bangalore today for giving FZ for a paid service and I reached early arnd 8.45 am. I entered the shop with the Mechs and supervisors etc. Saw a neatly rebuild Vespa and some old Vespa scooters lying in service center. When asked the supervisor he said its for Export to European countries like Italy, Germany etc... and the prices are around 1.2 lakhs. I knw there is a huge market for these oldies up there. Can someone throw more info abt this????
