We go with the Wego!
Picked up the scooter yesterday late in the evening. Although I would've preferred picking up the scooter during daytime, it was pretty late by the time we finished work and got home. Since it was a new vehicle, we thought of taking it even if it was a little late.
Price (including accessories) came to Rs.54,560. The insurance did not mention the registration number of the vehicle but the salesman at the dealership said not to worry as it is a new vehicle and the vehicle number will be mentioned on the policy document only during the time of renewal of the policy. The document mentions the chassis and the engine numbers, so I am not worried about it. The insurance company is Bharathi Axa. I tried buying the insurance online from HDFC Ergo, but they don't have Wego in their dropdown list of vehicles, and Bajaj Allianz asks for registration number even though it is a new vehicle. So had to go the manual way.
The storage box in the front is very small compared to the Honda Activa and difficult to store even a bottle of water. It is just enough to store the toolkit/medical kit and a cleaning cloth. However, the small storage means increase in the leg space and easy to keep the backpack while on the way to the office. The underseat storage space is much larger than the Activa and can take in the Vega Boolean helmet that my wife is so fond of using. The mobile charger needs to be fixed at a nearby car accessories shop. The dealer says he doesn't do it.
Controls are neat but the high/low beam switches are reversely connected. Low beam switch seems to put the beam to high, and reverse for the high beam. Will need to check that over the weekend. The indicators are smooth and the button-press indicator cancel is easy to use. The indicator buzzer is weak, but I hate that anyway, so that's ok for with me. The horn is louder than the weak squeak of the Activa.
Big improvement over the older Activa are the shock absorbers. The telescopic front forks are very effective over bad undulations of the road and the rear ones also seem far more effective. The large 12" wheels make the scooter very nimble to use and causes lesser strain on the engine. The engine feels a little rough compared to the Activa, however, the comparison is unfair, as the Activa had run 15K kms while the Wego is still too new. The engine should smoothen out as the scooter runs more and more.
Will update more over the weekend with better pictures.

Any long term ownership report. The current on-road price in Bangalore as on 24-Apr-2011 was Rs.53,820 .Accessories are extra. This price is more than Honda Aviator STD model. Is it worthy to invest in WEGO? I am planning to buy for family use(Scooter will be handled by Ladies,Gents & Elderly persons).

Ashwin don't think, just go for it. It's the best ;-P I have one that's 2 months and 2000+ kms. old and I am very happy with it. Upto the first service, the fuel efficiency was around 38 to 40 kmpl, but after the first service it jumped to 50+ which, frankly, astonished me. Refinement is better than the Hondas and outright power is less only when compared to the Suzuki. Handling, again, is best-in-class. After-sales-service is also definitely better than Honda, but since I prefer to work on my bikes myself, that is not a consideration for me. Looks-wise too, I don't think it has the pizzaz of the Dio. I just bought it for the lovely engine and the amazing ride and handling.Who needs more than 70 bhp when you don't need to slow down for the corners?

Dude, better wait for some more time before putting money... Honda Activa is best according to me, while you wait, go to different showrooms and try longest possible TDs. If the scoot is for ladies/gents/elders you can try pleasure, faster delivery, highest mileage & HH peace of mind.Originally posted by ashwhin View PostAny long term ownership report. Any long term reports highlighting frequent problems if any. Cold start problem & varying mileage are the two problems I have heard about Wego. But these two problem exists with most of the vehicles & driving style of the rider.
Also I noticed a small hole near the right RVM.Does it serve any purpose. Will it not be problem during rainy days.

Another addition to the Wego club
I've been a motorcyclist all my life, having owned an Ind Suzuki, Bajaj 4S and Pulsar 180 over the last 20 years. Over the last few years, I've found my two wheeler usage limited to my office commute (8 km) and very occasional trips of around 15-20 km. I found my Pulsar to be a pain to ride with my laptop in a backpack. Add to it, a dodgy gearbox that was a pain in heavy traffic. The only logical decision, therefore, was to go for a scooter.
We already have an Activa in the family. It's been a good performer over the last 7 years, but I was quite frustrated with the lack of spares, our scooter was literally grounded for 2 months due to the non-availability of the rear shocks. So, my choice was the Suzuki Access.
But, as I started researching about the Access, I learnt more about the Wego and was very interested. I made a trip to the neighbourhood dealer, Kubera TVS and took a test ride. I was, to put it mildly, blown away. Having experienced the gulf in refinement between an Indian (Pulsar) and Japanese (Activa), I wasn't prepared for the refinement levels of the Wego. The 12" wheels and the suspension took the worst that Bangalore roads had to offer (27th Main in HSR Layout) with aplomb. My mind was made up then and there, but the fly in the ointment was the exchange price that the dealer offered. I wasn't satisfied and set about selling my bike on my own.
It took a good 3-4 weeks for me to sell my bike. I had to service it and spend around 3000 bucks, so in net, I ended up with what the dealer had offered. But that's another story. Once the bike was sold, I went ahead and booked the Wego. I was expecting delivery in 3-4 days, but the dealer surprised me by giving the delivery on the same day. It is a Cappucino Brown vehicle. Initially I didn't go for any accessories, but later fitted the armour guard. I hate it, but given the way that 2-wheelers are packed in my office, it is a much needed accessory.
The initial impressions have been positive, I will update with more after a couple of weeks.

The reason for lack of negative feedback is that the scooter really is good. Also, people don't use their scooters that much and TVS has a reputation for building vehicles that don't fall apart, that could also be a contributing factor.Originally posted by kunnu@cbz View PostLooking at the Wego for my Dad! Would appreciate any response!
Cheers!
For me, its been three weeks and I'm still in the honeymoon period. The +ves (smoothness, handling) are still there, but a few things irritate
- Front box space
- Seat has a slight incline, I am more comfortable now
I am getting 40+, primarily because I spend 30 minutes stuck in a jam outside my office every day. Maybe, I should just switch off the engine and push the scooter. I assume it will go up after first service.
