I am new to this forum and seek help on the vehicle. New to 2-wheelers too, so kinda lost...

has anyone felt vibrations in the front even on smooth roads? My Wego's steering starts moving violently beyond 30 kmph but ok beyond 70kmph. Have started noticing this lately, having crossed 1.5kms. didnt use it much for initial months but since a month my daily commuting exceeds 40kms and im experiencing discomfort. the service centre just passed it off as less air in the tyres, but i came back home and felt the same on smooth roads. a local mechanic says front shock abs are tight and need to be loosened.

just a background on my Wego -
      - 6 months old, 1800 kms done
      - was dropped down flat by someone completely on the right side in the first 10 days (would that be causing this problem?havent faced any other problem in first 5 months)
      - front tyre tube was replaced with authentic TVS tube some 2 months back (didnt realise instantly that the front wheel was punctured, so the riding ended up damaging the tube)

any advice would be greatly appreciated. dont wana get ripped of by local mechanics/service centre guys. thanks
A little bit of vibrations in lower rpm's are expected.
But if its really tough to ride in that scenarios I suggest to check out
with service center guys rather than local mechanics mainly because its just 6months old and you are under free service period...and you can claim for these things to be done free of cost unless you dont mention them that your vehicle fell down and all those stuffs .. Also I dont think just because someone dropped your scooter when it was at stand still will cause problems... The forks can get damaged/misaligned if you skid and fall when you are on the move...Also check out if wheel alignment is fine but ofcourse that wont cause vibrations but it can cause wobbling in steerings, which I believe is your case because you had fixed the puncture recently and maybe the mechanic must have not taken care while fitting the tires back in correct position...

        Good points there.
Also check whether the tyre beading is properly aligned around the rim-this can cause wobbling too.

        Eliminate in the following order:
        1. Tyre beading
        2. Rim bend
        3. Shocker oil seals
        4. Shocker action (check action by compressing with front brake pressed)
        5. Fork bend (bike should go straight when hands left)

          thanks guys.

took a second opinion from another mechanic. word-to-word same diagnosis - front shock abs have an issue and fork is damaged (bike handle is a little tilted to one side, wasnt noticed or felt by any of my friends who rode my bike either)

will go to tvs showroom this weekend. they know about my bike's drop (it fell while in motion). had got some exteriors changed on insurance after the fall since i couldnt stand a new but scratched bike mechanic suggests that while fitting the exterior metal body, the shock abs may have been touched. any idea how much would i have to shell out? labour costs i guess will be there irrespective of the issue.

but must say, tvs after sales service is horrible. local mechanics know much better abt a wego than tvs guys themselves. pretty apprehensive to get the bike opened by people who claimed air pressure as the problem. i wonder if honda service is better...

@dipika: Which city are you in? Maybe one of us can help you. If in Hyd, I know some TVS guys. Similarly others will know in other cities.

mumbai... and i have shifted my preferred service centres too!

had bought from siddhivinayak tvs at goregaon west, their enthusiasm is limited to selling the vehicle, post that no interest.

got 2 servicings done from yash tvs at andheri east. nice people. have had a good experience so far. but like i mentioned above, inspite of repeated test drives, they confidently said the issue is low tyre pressure. doubt their credibility a bit.

lets see happens on saturday. hoping this wont be a costly affair.

Ok, Rachit (rachitkohli) should be able to help you there.
Is the steering now straight? How is the suspension action on checking the compression like I had suggested earlier?
Have you seen whether the bike goes in a straight line when you leave the handle?
Low tyre pressure will make you feel the front is heavy but does not cause wobbling.
Please have a check on the rims-if you have gone into a pothole at high speed, there is possibility of a minor bend. This used to happen with my Kinetic too.

                  Two month review of Wego

It's a little over 2 months since I got my Wego. 2 months is time in my opinion, where the initial euphoria about buying the bike has worn off and you start taking a more neutral look at the vehicle. Thankfully, the Wego still scores a very high +ve mark in my book, but with some caveats.

Firstly the good things about the bike
                  - Ride and handling: this still remains a marvel. We have a Honda Activa as well in our house and the difference is especially stark when I ride them back to back. The Activa feels like a lumbering elephant while the Wego feels like a nimble gazelle
                  - Engine smoothness: Before I bought the Wego, I had an original Pulsar 180. It was a 2003 model, that I would use every single day. On occasion, I would ride the Activa and was struck by how much smoother the Honda's engine was, compared to the Bajaj. I've since sold the Pulsar, but today, I can safely say that the difference between the Wego and the Activa is similar. Granted, the Honda is 7 years old, but its just done 25000 km and has been serviced regularly, so that speaks very highly of the Wego's smoothness

I won't go into all the +ves, many like the looks are as valid today as when I bought it. But, it hasn't been all roses.
                  - Storage: Or rather, the lack of storage. I'm really feeling this. The front glove box is a joke. The underseat storage is big, but very narrow, so my helmet does not fit and I had to buy another. In any case, once you fit in the helmet, there is very little else that fits
                  - Fuel tank: I find the 5L fuel tank a little too small. I wish it was a 8-10L capacity, so that I only fill in twice a month. Speaking of the fuel tank, there is a plastic part covering the fuel tank that went missing on my scooter. I had to wait a week for the part to arrive at the dealer. It is only 30 bucks, but feels very easy to remove.
                  - Size of the scooter: It's positioning notwithstanding, this is a small scooter, compared to the Activa. I think it slots somewhere between the Activa and the Scooty. I'm medium height (5'7") and I feel that it is a little on the smaller side.
                  - Seat fabric: I didn't go for a seat cover as I thought that TVS would've used goodquality material for the seat. I especially loved the white thread stitching and didn't want to cover it with an ugly seat cover. Unfortunately, I was proved wrong, the cover has already started to wear out. I'm planning to complain at the second service and will push them to get it replaced.

Please don't think that because I have more -ves than +ves, it is a bad scooter. It's more the opposite, I would definitely recommend this over the Activa anyday.

                    Thanks for the reference
But leaving the handle & trying on this gearless scooter can be little risky though

I think the problem could be the little bent handle probably. Else could be the front shocks as well. If you dont have trust in the TVS guys, get it checked from a local mechanic who is trust worthy.
Though my wego is done around 3 servicings so far. Its not used that much, as my sis is yet learning. So me & dad ride it sometimes. Done with just 1300kms so far. I regularly get my servicing done at TVS service centre at Airoli, New Mumbai as its near to my house.
I havent had any problem yet in the bike, so not thoroughly experienced the service yet.
But yes, wego is superb & can effortlessly ride at 80-85 with smoothness. Love it when have to do some shopping.

                        @rachitkohli

i love the bike too, but i guess i have been just unfortunate the bike turns so smooth, never skids.

first bike and hence i've been getting hyper and upset since day 1. learnt riding on this bike too, must have made mistakes like wrong riding technique. like Sarvajit rightly said, i have gone on potholes at high speed. i just cant brake every 10 secs, mumbai roads are a disaster. navi mumbai is heaven in comparison.

                        @Sarvajit

the bike does seem to go straight without holding handle (tried for few secs only) but the mechanics clearly showed me the tilted handle. so i have become conscious mechanics couldnt see a bend in the wheel.

im just waiting for sat. need to get the bike to ride smooth asap. its jumping way too much..

thanks guys for all the info. will update on sat.

A couple of points to add to my post yesterday.

                            - I solved the mystery of the seat cover. This morning I caught a cat napping on the seat. So, it is quite likely that its claws were destroying the seat.

Yesterday while riding, I had a revelation. I've had this feeling for a while that the Wego lacks power and doesn't respond well on roll-ons. Yesterday, I discovered why, when it wasn't going like I expected it to, I glanced at the speedo and saw that it was doing close to 70 kmph. But its handling is so sure-footed that I thought it was doing closer to 50 and was looking for it to respond as it would at that speed. That for me sums up the difference between the Wego and the Activa.

It has been almost 5 months since I got my Wego and have travelled almost 2000 km on it. So far, I've been very happy with the scooter. It is smooth, troublefree and as I mentioned earlier, the ride and handling is so confidence inspiring that it begs for a more powerful engine.

I'm getting close to 45 kmpl mostly in moderate city traffic with the occasional jams.

                              Some irritants
                              - Someone scratched the left panel and also removed the Wego sticker on that side
                              - The same person (presumably) also flicked the plastic piece that surrounds the petrol cap.
                              - The fuel indicator is not reliable. It moves from Full to Empty a little too rapidly, but when I go to refill again, I can barely fill in 4l. Since the capacity is 5L, I assume that there is still 1L of fuel available at the Empty mark. TVS needs to calibrate this better.
                              - And of course, the bloody cat in my apartment has left scuff marks all over the seat

Happy to see many Wego owners sharing their experiences. I was also in dilemma to pick up which scooter before picking up this "White Beauty".

Started searching for scooter during the May-Jun timeframe. Visited Honda dealer(still Honda is the darling of the masses) for booking Aviator. Got a test ride and was not impressed with it's rear suspension. Didn't think about Activa as I was aware of the waiting period.

Next to Suzuki dealers. Asked for a test ride and the dealer immediately turned down and also said "We are not taking any booking for Access currently".

With not much options left , went to TVS showroom. I know a friend of mine who was having Wego for nearly more than six months and he happy with the vehicle. Took a test ride and was thoroughly impressed the pickup and suspension. Liked some useful features like external fuel lid, Eazee Centre Stand, Under Seat Storage(having used Kinetic Honda is past, this feature was something new to me), 12 inch Alloy wheels, Telescopic Suspension. Without much hesitation booked White Colour Wego on a Saturday and got vehicle delivered on Monday which was my Birthday too. Pre-planned execution.

Not all vehicles look good in white color, but this scooter is a real treat to watch in white color. Honda twister in white looks really pathetic. Slowly started using Wego is place of my Pulsar 150cc(Need to own this vehicle to experience the power, an excellent value for money bike). Initially it was painful driving within the speed of 50KMPH till the first 1000KM's. Now that I have crossed nearly 2100 KM in speedo and thought of providing my review of this white beauty.

                                Pros :
Good pickup and also pulling power with adults is great.
Great mileage. Consistent between 43-47 KMPL.
External fuel lid, Ezee center stand, under seat storage, Rear suspension.
Very light kicker. Pretty easy to start. No Cold start problems.

                                Cons:
Lack of top speed. Easily goes to 65, struggles to reach 70 and above.
                                Front suspension not that great.
                                Useless front glove box.

Strictly for city use. I used to travel nearly 25KM's (to and fro) per day and I have started getting back pain and stiff neck. It's the same with all scooters. Scooters are meant for city use.

Overall to conclude , Wego is a great alternate to Honda Activa, You really can't go wrong with this scooter if maintained properly.

Happy riding and Thanks for reading.
