In city = not sure (may be 55 - 60kmpl) (most of the time in 1st gear in heavy traffic)
    On Highway = 40kmpl (approx) = @ 90 - 105kmph (speedo indicated speeds)

    • Can Discover 100 DTs-si be fitted with the tachometer of discover 135 (analog)?

      Hi
I own a Discover 100Dts-si and have clocked 23702kms as on today. I love tachometers (especially the analog ones like in Old pulsar/ Apache etc)

I am confident that the console (speedometer+fuelmeter) on my bike is actually designed from the old Discover 135 (Speedo on left + Tacho on right + fuel indicator in middle) analog console.

CAN I REPLACE THE EXISTING CONSOLE WITH THAT OLD DISCOVER ONE?
      WILL IT WORK PROPERLY?
IF your answer is yes, please do suggest me a good mechanic/ garage where I can take my bike to get it done?

The Service Centre guy said, tacho cant be fitted on my bike!

      • Guys I own a Discover 125 V1. It was just parked in the garage for the past three years in my hometown as I was in college. Gave it for a major service yesterday. I want to install Amaron 9 Ah battery and convert the bike to full DC. Later on planning to upgrade to tubeless tyres, disc brakes and HID. Any good mechanics you know for this in Bangalore? or Chennai?

          • Hello Folks,

I have a Discover 135cc that I purchased in July 2007. An excellent bike overall. The tachometer, front disc brake and the open chain gives it a unique look. The only thing missing is a 5th gear!!

I have a query related to the idling RPM of the bike. The idling RPM as per the user's manual is 1400 +/- 100. When I start the bike in the morning, the tachometer indicates 1100 to 1200 RPM. When the engine warms up, it shows 1400 to 1500 RPM.

Now if I ride the bike in city conditions (normal to heavy traffic) for more than 10 kms, the idling RPM increases anywhere between 2000 to 2200 RPM. When the bike is parked say for 30-40 minutes, the idling RPM is again back to the 1400-1500 range.

What could be the reason for this huge variation in the idling RPM depending on the engine temperature? Is it a design problem? I also use vehicles like Access 125, Priya, Bajaj Super, but none of them showed these variations in the idling RPM. Experts, please advise.

            Regards,

            Rahul Waghmare.

            Solution:

Your bike have missing problem, you have to clean the connectors which are placed behind the front number plate.

After buying the KING, have neglected my Disco a lot. Before was cleaning the Disco every sunday, but now i use it hardly 100k/month
its been almost 2weeks i have parked it in garage, without starting/cleaning!

There was lot of acid leakage from the battery (local made) 1 yr back. had noticed white powderish substance wich was the paint and the metal (chasis) turning into powderish substance cause of the leakage.
So changed the battery to Exide bikers, after that there is no leakage from the battery and there was no acid spill also.

Today i noticed white powderish thing on the chasis\centre stand. check the attached pic.
Rubbed the powder with tooth brush and i could see almost 1-2cm of the chasis under the stand turn into powder

              Following are my concerns:
              1) There is no other leakage, i dont leave the bike wet after cleaning. Always wash with soft cloth after washing, haven ridden the bike in rain also in the past 6-7 months. Is this really cause of the battery leakage? coz battery terminals are well moisturized using vasolene, there is no leak from any part of the battery and yeah i use a cover even in garage!

              2) Is it enough to scrub the damaged part using good grade sand paper+paint it @ home. I0s it worth a DIY or a should I go for a pro painter and get it done?

What is cost of the Exide battery?

                • Bajaj Discover 125 DTSi

Im from Vasai, got my 1st bike, the Discover DTSi in 2006, was delivered to me instantly, a superb bike overall (especially fuel efficiency)
Regarding maintenance, it really had no hassles. Great for city roads, with the SNS suspension.
Sold the bike in 2010, planning to get a new one now, definitely a Bajaj, it has won my heart.

Install a tank cover mate. Easy solution. If you don't like the way it looks then you might have to do some jugaad.

                        • Tank cover generally covers it. But if you want a solution without the tank cover, then try to have a small plastic cover with you all times. When it is about to rain, open the tank lid, place the plastic cover over the fuel hole, close the lid. Hope you can visualize it. It is not the best solution but still your tank is water proof now!

thanks..but tank cover seems good option instead of carrying plastic.thanks once again for replying.

I have bought my bike Discover 135 analog meters and disc in July 2008.After a month when i rode with 2 guys (incl me), i had heard a noise like 'thud' from rear whenever i pass through a breaker or a mild pothole.

I enquired about this and came to know that this is general in almost all bikes with gas shocks.

Its not been discussed here so i want to know that is it a single problem or with many ??

Also please give of suggestions to overcome this.

                              engine oil - castrol (factory)
                              mileage-- 50-55kmpl
                              no mod done yet

                              Please help.
According to me the saree gaurd might be banging against the swing-arm.
Try holding your grab rail with one hand and pull the saree gaurd away from the bike.
                              This may eliminate the problem.

As for the tyres if you are planning to change, you can go for MRF.
I personally had changed my tyres to IRC.
My experience was awesome grip on all types of surface and excellent cornering ability.
But i experienced a lot of punctures on my IRC so won't recommend it.

If you want to switch your engine oil to some other brand then i would recommend you to try Motul.
If you want to stick with Castrol then you can try Castrol Activ. Its a semi-synthetic oil.

And since you mentioned that your bike is fitted with analog meters, I presume that you would be having an open chain cover.
So for the chain you can buy Motul chain lube, especially in the rains the chain will require special attention.

                              Enjoy your ride.
I hate being a pillion, iff the rider is senseless.
