        • Variation in idling RPM of Discover 135

          Hello Folks,

I have a Discover 135cc that I purchased in July 2007. An excellent bike overall. The tachometer, front disc brake and the open chain gives it a unique look. The only thing missing is a 5th gear!!

I have a query related to the idling RPM of the bike. The idling RPM as per the user's manual is 1400 +/- 100. When I start the bike in the morning, the tachometer indicates 1100 to 1200 RPM. When the engine warms up, it shows 1400 to 1500 RPM.

Now if I ride the bike in city conditions (normal to heavy traffic) for more than 10 kms, the idling RPM increases anywhere between 2000 to 2200 RPM. When the bike is parked say for 30-40 minutes, the idling RPM is again back to the 1400-1500 range.

What could be the reason for this huge variation in the idling RPM depending on the engine temperature? Is it a design problem? I also use vehicles like Access 125, Priya, Bajaj Super, but none of them showed these variations in the idling RPM. Experts, please advise.

          Regards,

          Rahul Waghmare.

          • Noise in rear.

            Hello guys,

I have bought my bike Discover 135 analog meters and disc in July 2008.After a month when i rode with 2 guys (incl me), i had heard a noise like 'thud' from rear whenever i pass through a breaker or a mild pothole.

I enquired about this and came to know that this is general in almost all bikes with gas shocks.

Its not been discussed here so i want to know that is it a single problem or with many ??

Also please give of suggestions to overcome this.

            • That's mormal with 3 guys' weight. The suspension was bottoming out. Avoid riding with more than 1 pillion.
for heavy load, adjust the springs' pre-load.. both should match.
